So while i will say Arkham Jason’s backstory is way more fucked up than the classic Under the Red Hood one, I dont see how Batman treated him so wrong. I can totally see why Jason hates Bruce tho as he was replaced much quicker than in the comics and also he never died, bro was genuinely being tortured for like 3 years 😢

Here is something Jason Todd fans don’t understand.
Ya’ll give credit to him for something he never did. He is all about “killing people that deserve it” but Jason will never canonically kill any major villain that matters for the same reason why the Gotham Government never kills the joker or why Batman never kills the joker.
At least Batman is consistent and never kills anyone. While Jason only kills unimportant henchmen that are just doing their jobs and never someone that matters.
@@Indigo_1001 he literally killed black mask in this universe what are you on about. He also killed the joker in death in the family
This just sounds ridiculous, that Batman would never think to check Arkham for him. Really do think they dropped the ball with this one, everyone saw the (bad) Arkham Knight twist coming from a mile away.
You weren’t paying attention were you? Nobody would even think to check there. For all Batman knows, Jason could be anywhere. Everyone seeing the Arkham Knight twist coming doesn’t mean it’s bad. The fact rocksteady lied and said it’s a new character is a flimsy excuse for hating it because it’s an external factor and has nothing to do with the twist itself. People just can’t criticize this game correctly.

The fact that Redhood hasn't killed Joker or Harley yet, kinda proves the futility of his endeavors. IMO.
Joker was already dead. Harley Quinn was practically a mubling mess. It was Batman he was looking for.
@@burgerbandit3646 I mean in general, not just the Arkham universe.
@@burgerbandit3646Joker wasn't dead yet. Jason escaped on the night that Arkham Asylum took place, Joker died at the end of Arkham City which that game took place a year after Asylum. So Jason could have killed him if he wanted to but Joker messed with his mind so much that he hated Batman more than Joker.
Cause remember Jason was brainwashed to think that Batman was the true enemy. He only cared about eventually killing Batman. Plus he probably knew that Joker was dying already.
@@holymoly-ii6of Agreed! Finally someone gets it. Yeah I have a lot of respect for the character too. But like you say he doesn't fit in the vanilla Gotham continuity. He would be the perfect character to do a one-off story with. Like DC zombies or, _x_ Kills the DC universe.
I Feel like the dynamic between Slade And Jason is the best, Not only their ruthless but they also have strong determination and that's what I like in a character, just to have all that confidence to destroy Batman is insane.
People antagonize them, Ignoring that in the comics Jason & Slade have a pretty good relationship, & they're even family since Jason & Rose wilson end up together in most continuities
so technically batman is deathstroke step brother since jason basically bruice adopted son... crazy to think about
I don't know what comic you're reading but Jason and Slade are definitely NOT FRIENDS.
You're thinking of elseworld continuities. In the main continuity the writers force Jason and Slade to be enemies, regardless of how nonsensical it is. "Deathstroke vs. Red Hood" is a very popular matchup in comics.
Well, not in the Arkhamverse
that comic was the only reason i liked jason in Arkham Knight. I get why many fans were kinda not ok with it when they didnt read the comic cause they assumed it was the same backstory as in the regular comics.

Bleh... Don't think I'll read this one.
I feel like the idea that Jason would need to be systematically brainwashed by the Joker in order to end up hating Batman does a serious disservice to what he went through. I think just being tortured for more than a year, going through every day hoping that Batman will come save him, only to have him NOT show up, day after day, week after week, month after month... That would be enough for him to reject Batman. The pain of being left alone to suffer would be enough, even without the Joker's influence.
Plus, I don't like seeing Harley cheerfully torturing someone. I like my Harley to be bad, but not too bad.
This is tame compared to what Harley has done in other comics though 💀
@@IronLordEXO I heard she tried to blow up a group of children in one, and made a boyfriend wear the Joker's face while they made out in another. Eugh. 🤢

I guess it's a good thing you can just kind of pick and choose whichever version makes the most sense to you, since there are so many writers. Like, I liked how in The Dark Prince Charming she has an agreement with the Joker that they don't hurt kids or little old grannies.
One thing I hate about Batman is how he always tries to make out that Harley's just "another one of Joker's victims" when she's doing shit like this. Nah, fuck that
@@thehumblepotatoreborn9313 In both cases the writers are attributing too much to Joker's power and not enough to the person's own feelings and motivations.
Harley is based on women who fall in love with serial killers. People who have a bizarre positive draw to serial killers are like that in part because they associate power with violence. It's safe to say when Harley does crimes with Joker, it's not just to please him, but because she, too, gets a thrill out of wielding that kind of power over people, and sees the Joker as an integral means to accessing it.

This comic makes the story for Arkham Knight better, however it also kinda takes a sledgehammer to the continuity of all the previous games. And also botches everyone's character, aide from giving Jason some subsistence outside of edgy. More edge.

The Arkham Knight comics, while enjoyable, overall they don't make a lot of narrative sense in the context of the games and aren't really canon.
I couldn't care less if it's canon or not as long as the story is good.
It does add more context to the game even if it isn't 100% canon. For example, it explains how Jason allied with Deathstroke, when he escaped Arkham Asylum, etc.
@@joaquincasascortes624 It also shows Jason killing Bane which doesn't line up with the games where it is explained that Bane goes back to reclaim Santa Prisca.
@@The_Phantasm What events are and aren't canon are up to the interpretation of the reader.

Asylum, City & Knight happen over the course of two years? Wow
Everyone wondering why jason was in arkham knight, it’s pretty obvious.
Jason’s armor protected him from the gunshot. Then joker continued to torture him for a year until arkham asylum. Then during the titan joker vs batman boss fight jason tried to escape. Then deathstroke shot him in the shoulder explaining that joker paid him to kill Jason, and jason told him joker was going to be taken out and slade wouldn’t be paid and told him that he’d triple the amount to help him escape. So basically no joker did not let jason escape and he didn’t die and get revived by the lazarus pit. Deathstroke helped him escape and worked for jason then on, that’s why he took over for jason after the arkham knight disappeared
Now i get spoiled that Jason Todd is the Arkham Knight..... i thought it was batman ..... thanks a lot

And people act like Harley Quinn is just a little misunderstood.
Nah the Harley Quinn from the Arkham Universe is out for fucking blood. Unlike her Batman TAS iteration which, while still evil, she still had a chance of being redeemed, and basically only followed Joker because she had given up everything else in her life and basically only had him, or modern comics Harley which has basically become an Anti hero at this point since she realised how horrible Joker actually is and made sure to leave him when she could, Arkham Harley is straight up sadistic, she only cares about the joker and is just as crazy as him, she takes any opportunity she can to torture or threaten Joker's goons, doesn't show even a hint of regret for her actions, and there's not even one moment where she shows any slight possibility of being redeemed (besides in Assault on Arkham, I guess, but Harley in that movie was clearly written to be more similar to the Harley of the main continuity, so I don't really count it) and even after Joker died she literally continued his legacy, and kept up literally doing horrible stuff just to "honor" him.
She's meant to be irredeemable in this universe.
@@thefollower2933 Injustice Harley helped killed a lot of people. So did New 52. She’s not “misunderstood” she’s evil, and everyone treats her like she’s “quirky”. Lol this is exactly what I've been saying. No excuses for her actions! Yet the fan base will do mental gymnastics to excuse the fact that Harley has brutally killed and tortured innocent people. They do the same thing for Jinx from Arcane, she blows up a police station and still feel sorry for her
@@thegeneral2000 Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this way. There’s been a weird shift in comics since the 80s - 90s where being directly involved in mass homicide is seen as “quirky”. A lot of my favorite characters are part of the 2nd chance club. But there’s no redeeming her.
@@NotALiberalSoSkipTheScriptThat is pretty hateful. If we are being practical, Harley is mentally ill. She has done bad, sure. But tbh, so have some gray anti heros who were in more stable mental faculties then her. It is also usually at the behest of Joker she does those things. I mean, come on? I understand if you dont like her, but this is comics. Good and Evil are themselves the constructs. And if Harley is evil, just because she mostly following a madman and has been shown in other universes to be ‘okay’, I am sure she is only evil because of the Joker. And the writers who happen to work with the Joker but beside the point.
That all said, I don’t think she deserves to be offed. No, seriously. That is just cruel. Honestly, that itself seems evil. Evil for evil is just one eye for an eye makes the world blind kind of thing. And yeah, I kind of think she can be evil, but she doesnt ‘have’ to be. Like how Batman can be good, but doesnt have to be (Owlman exists.)
Edit: Lol, bringing up Vegeta is also hilarious. Redemption is impossible and irrelevant. Otherwise, by your strict moral standard, evil can never be undone even if a magical dragon fixes it.
