    "... Solid position for the middlegame every time."
    That's the reason I use it. It had also made it so that I preferred playing black, as this opening has made white formulaic. Now I play the French.
    Ben you magnificent bastard.
    Also I play the Advanced variation so your argument doesn't apply.

    • @harrymills2770
      @harrymills2770 3 роки тому

      If I were an e4 player, which I'm not, and my opponent opened with the French, I would feel very good about my chances. I'm just a punter, though, so one reading of "My System" and "Blockade" and Nimzo had me thinkin' Black might as well resign after 1. e4 e6.

      By the way, once you get into the London system you can find that it's actually a bit intricate. You can turn it into a queen's gambit, go for a fried liver and according to the situation, if they offer you a bishop trade you can take it with the knight(not always). Not to mention the London system kind of has a different structure against the king's Indian.

    Your b2 pawn is the weakness of this opening. (normally threatened by the queen)
    Be prepared. Either defend it or sacrifice it to either trap the queen or advance the c knight in order to ultimately make a check fork and get something more valuable. (normally the a rook)
    Good video on this on YT by Eric Rosen. (not on his channel tho, it's an 40-something min video on a chess club channel)

    • @The_Jovian
      @The_Jovian 3 роки тому

      Refute the Queen attack by blocking with Qb3 to tempt a queen trade. Recapture with axb3 and you have an open file for your rook

    • @MusicPlaylistsChannel
      @MusicPlaylistsChannel 3 роки тому

      @@The_Jovian
      Yes that's an option as well.
      But for those who prefer keeping their queens, they should go for one of the other 2 options. (also, all these options only work in certain circumstances, like trapping the queen, you need to know how to do it)

    i picked up the london and climbed from 900 to 1200 in rapid/blitz/bullet and plateaued. i proceeded to lose my mind as i stagnated at mediocrity. the game lost its magic. there was no fun in seeing the exact same position hundreds of times. i have since transitioned from queen's pawn to king's pawn openings. don't fall down the rabbit hole of d4. it will do horrible things to you, after making you feel an empty sense of accomplishment for gaining a few hundred rating points by learning nothing.
