- I spent the last week creating a haunting spider goblin diorama gaming base - using mostly garbage and household items! Enjoy!
The Goblin came from the Greenskull Castle kickstarter running now:

You could do the entrance to the Spiders nest for the last base ... would probably look really awesome with that spider serum 🤔
Once again, your creation has rendered me speechless Squidmar! It's stunning!
Thank you so much!
Lisa
Hi Emil, I doubt you remember but a few months ago I posted a comment saying how your tips had allowed me to complete a high-level project, potentially landing me a place at University?
I have since been accepted to study at my 1st choice University, and will be going this Sunday (6 days as of writing this)
Thank you so much for what you do for this community, and thanks for teaching me amazing skills that have allowed me to go to University!!
Guy
THATS AWESOME!
I’ve been waiting so long for you to come back! I think I commented on your og post and I’m so happy for you.
Congratz dude!
@@SquidmarMiniatures I know!! I'm super excited!
@@baku2575 Thanky you so much!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn... Beautiful piece Emil. And hot dangit, never seen that airbrush spiderwebby stuff before! That stuff looks amazing
Green Stuff World makes some legit terrain effect stuff, their blood effect looks life like, seen someone get it on their hands and looks like they cut it wide open, and their snow and water looks really good too.
@@cody180sx Yeah, absolutely swear by their snow. It's brilliant.
Love to see more quality diorama basing videos. We need more content like this.
"Random household items ... garbage ... "
Puts full castle wall on the table
... okay
haha, exactly what i was thinking :-D
and all the plastic plants he has in the bin
A really simple technique I used for sculpting miliput to look more like rocks was to scrunch up a foil ball then press the ball into the miliput in different ways. The texture worked really well and I got a good result
It's easy to forget about the free stuff/garbage/nature materials that really look good on bases! It's quicker to simply buy premade pieces or specific materials marketed for hobbying.... but this is so creative and unique!
My sister and her husband live on a farm, and during our last visit I saw plenty of branches and the like that I thought might do for crafting. (That, and a whole heap of cardboard from floor tile boxes). Alas, we have to drive for 8-10 hours to get back home from there, so I couldn't justify packing the cars full of "garbage". Maybe some other time.
I have been wanting to see more of this army, it is so epic! Can't wait to see it all completed and the journey to get there
The paintjob is absolutely stunning! I really like how it ties together and isn't just a green piece. Keep up the good work Emil!
Your diorama bases have always been inspiring, and this one is no exception. Always seem to learn something new. Thanks!
Wow. Just wow. I love the colors and the throne and the river bottom rocks seen through the epoxy poor. It is just amazing!
using garbage? by garbage do you mean premium basing materials? ''plastic plants that have been in the bin'' was the best!
Thank you for this awesome video!
I am excited to start my first basing project to warm up to landscape dioramas.
I've always painted my minis, and left my bases alone since for playing games the environment changes but I've wanted to make my bases look real, and not just painted so I'm feeling extra inspired now :)
Really enjoyed this one. Thank you for sharing!
This is the type of hobby video I love - not a gimmick video, just pure hobby
That spider is the stuff of nightmares. Thus, it's perfect. Loved how all the colours popped out on the scenery when hit with the UV light. Well done, Emil.
The other big spider video you did is the video of yours I have watched the most times. This video is just as incredible. Seeing you perform such magic on these bases makes me want to go out and buy a big monster model so I can play about too. Incredible stuff as always!
Great job you have given me a wind of energy to finish my spider now!
That is the coolest and most amazingly painted base I have ever seen. I'm not just saying that. Wow!
Wow, just wow!
That spray spider-web stuff is interesting, I've not seen it before.
These mini diorama vids are prob my favourites your style of painting and building is incredible. I'd love to see what you could do on a larger scale. 1x2 foot for example.
That’s one of the best miniatures I’ve ever seen. The story is amazing!!
I love these kinds of videos from you, Emil. Keep up the creative work!!
Huzzah! Because of videos like this , i have wholly went in to Gloomspite Gitz - Spiderfang Army. Thank you thank you!
This is the most awesome video I watch in a long time, the whole scene looks insane Emil. Absolutely amazing 🤩
Very cool video! Will definitely try out some of these ideas for future projects!
Beautiful!
Wow!!! That reveal was epic!
This is seriously awesome! Makes me want to try something out for my Stormcast Eternals. Just got into the hobby, and you're a great inspiration Emil! My first minatures were rather good dare I say because Ive watched you and some other "how to" videos first. Still got a long way to go, but I wouldn't be shy of showing them off and bringing them to the table! Cheers.
I absolutely love these videos. They are by far my favourite. Also can we see it beside your other spider.
It’s insane! Great details and highlights!
Nice looking diorama, I like all the plant details in particular
Spider Serum?! This is new for me, I need this in my life.
Great video! I've really missed videos like this on your channel.
Master of bases man. Insaneeeee
this looks fantastic!
SPIDER SERUM OMFG!!! awesome!!
so f*cking amazing...the Spidernet "Colour" killed my Imagination...even im not into Warhammer or anything else of Tabletop Stuff, your Vids make me wanna do it by myself... Great Job...speechless...
Greetings from Germoney
13:01 I searched google but can't for the life of me find anything related to "Polar Twist" (if that's indeed what you're saying here). Edit: For those looking, it's spelled "Polertwist".
Learned a lot! Thanks!!
It looks incredible!!!
My god! You are sooo talented! Amazing!
Amazing work Emil.
awesome I love your work !! So inspirating !
Holy Moly. That is incredible.
Wonderful diaporama !
Goblins are great, and you make them look amazing! As a fellow Goblin collector, it's nice to see someone who shares my passion for these weird little green fellas :P
Amazing job !
Magnificent ! It blew my mind OO
Best video for a while man.
Love it, this is why I am here.
What an amazing job!!
Nice jumper
what an amazing miniature and base
My god this is incredible. Very inspiring work!
Pretty sure Das weighs less than milliput after drying, its paper clay. But milliput would look better.. I dont feel as bad about my bits/trash stash now 🤣 Epic work Emil!
I think I saw some Das (or a similar brand of air dry clay) at my local dollar store.
Simply amazing.
That is spiderific! Using UV resin to seal the dam before pouring the two-part resin was a clever idea.
Amazing work! Love to see more videos about basing :)
Very cool diorama
maaan that s awesome !!
Amazing!!! 😍
What?? I need that Spider Serum! It's awesome!
Looks awesome, wouldn't mind seeing more diorama stuff :D
this army has been the driving force for me learning how to airbrush and also starting my AoS army
Bro! You made my dreammmmms come true. I am invredibly excited to see these Spider Goblins come together. And theres a possibility to have a 3rd and final spider and goblin master come up?! Sign me up.
If you could take those old spider sculpts and come up with an epic gloom army... Man dude. Really I can think of no pro wargamer painting channels that cover this particular army.
Good Work! The goblin even looks like an old GW forest goblin!
holy crap that spider serum is cool af
Amazing diorama.
Great job, I now have a new favourite Squidmar video :D
Soooo nice
Looking around for Milliput I've found it on Amazon for as low as 4€ a box. I ended up buying terracotta colored Milliput last time because it was cheapest, but I'm going to paint over it 95% of the time so I usually use that and save the white and black for special cases.
Nice job
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Dude this is insane and im so inspired to hobby when i get home lol
This IS the best miniature ever made! Well done bro!
Thank you so much 😀
Killin it Emil!💥💥💥
Galet atmosfäriskt!
Amazing!
amazing
Awesome job as usual. And that's a great idea blocking off with UV resin first. I'm sure many of us had experienced leakage with our pour. But I have to confess, my favorite part is when Mr. Subscribe came to call. I actually laughed out loud. No joke. I was expecting some special part arriving from one sponsor or another. So I was totally caught off guard. Thanks for the laugh. :-)
Ha, those Ikea coasters are awesome... sooo much cheaper than buying cork at the craft store and just as good. I always have a stack of them.
Another trick that works well for covering corkboard is paper mache
All you need for that is glue and toilert paper. Very cheap, but super messy.
That squidmar baseball cap is awesome
This is so good
As a French viewer, I really enjoyed this warhammer video. This game is the best
Dude... casually painting that giant spider, all the hand painted rocks at the bottom of the creek, using that awesome green stuff world spider webbing (those people are actual magicians how does that even work), and adding a whole extra mini to the already complex diorama project. This video has it all
we need more spider related content . definitely
The COLOURS!!! 💖
Holy shit this is freaking awesome !
Nice!
Favourite video for a while, really interesting and I learnt new modelling techniques. Classic Squidmar.
Misleading title though, vast majority of what was used the average person would need to purchase. Miliput, steel wire, cork, dried sticks, these are just modelling materials…loved this channel when it was pretty much just a guy and his camera. It helped me get back into the hobby properly again. I remember sincerely thanking you for sharing your enthusiasm and you replying.
This is a minor offence really, but indicative of the way a few other vids have been over the last 6 months, you really don’t need these UA-cam tricks mate.
Well, I don't think the point is to use the exact materials Emil used, but to look around and see what you can find. I'd say the only "real" modelling material is the Milliput, and he did provide an explanation to that.
One of my favourite materials is the bark chips that can be found in playgrounds/outdoor gyms :)
@@manne000 the definition of garbage is rubbish, waste, worthless. 90% of the items he used don’t meet that definition. It’s not the correct word for materials used. My local hobby store sells bark, cork, wire, miliput, dried sticks, they are all well known basing materials, not exactly worthless.
You would expect the items used to be tin cans, bottle caps, plastic packaging, scrap cardboard etc. Genuine rubbish, It’s click baiting. The title wasn’t “making a base from left over items from my hobby cupboard and garage”
One man's trash is another man's treasure :) He literally said the broken ruins were being thrown away by a friend, the broken cork coasters could easily have been destroyed by his kids, the bark and stick were found cleaning the garden, and it's not uncommon to throw away wire if you're organizing your garage. Just because you can buy this stuff in the store doesn't mean it can't be garbage.
@@manne000 Everything you are saying confirms my point. Garbage isn’t “I found this in the garden”, garbage isn’t “wire I no longer want, that I found in the garage”. Garbage most certainly isn’t cork coasters he implied were bought for basing (which seems far more likely as he suggested purchasing them for that purpose, than inserting an explanation about his kids). it definitely isn’t miliput. It’s not what the word means, everything apart from the stick carried indicative value as a resource, and even the stick isn’t garbage, it’s a stick. No native English speaker would call a stick garbage. It’s not what the word means 🤷♂️
It might be a language issue then. I'm not a native English speaker (native Swedish as Emil), and would refer to all those things as the Swedish word for garbage 😅
Also, the reason for my example is that we actually have cork coasters like this at home, at least 2 of which have been destroyed by my kids and thrown away as garbage 😄 After watching this video, I might have put them in my storage instead of throwing them away, which I think is one of the points he wants to make!
Nice diorama.
You do not sound like the Swedish Chef 99% of the time. When you said plague-bearer and fiftay-fiftay mix I lost it. What a build! Amazing! The way you painted the leaves on the fake plants turned out extra cool. Reminds me of prehistoric dinosaur vegetation or just wild fantasy plants I guess.
Damn, love it. Especially the Colour scheme for the spider. Is there a tutorial on how you painted the whole spider?
Wow very nice Work ! I really like everything about it, but meeen dat base is...... and also I dont get why people dislike this kind of content.
Squidmar you are so good at forest scenes! I'm new to warhammer. Starting my sylvaneth army, I was wondering if you would ever paint some sylvaneth minis? I've noticed a real lack of content around them and I'm having a hard time getting detailed wood effect on them without it looking flat l.
Cool
13:16 Forbidden Pad Thai noddles
Because it’s all about that base 😍😎
