Man I hate re-sealing tanks! I may just have to do one soon though as my vintage metal frame 20 gallons old silicone seems to be coming off in spots. Someone re-sealed it without removing the old school black colored silicone/tar ?....they just put silicone over it. Video is right on time for me Cleve...thanks bro!
It seems so easy, but if I'm being honest I have thrown away a tank or two when they leaked because i was scared to try and re-seal it, maybe if i run into that problem again I might actually try and re-seal it. Thanks for the video brother.
I recognize those shit aqueon tanks, lol. Buying those tanks at Petco during their dollar a gallon days is the reason I had to learn how to reseal tanks.
This is not really safe to use for aquariums. You’ll see you at the very bottom. It says do not use on aquariums overtime. It will kill sensitive fish.🙀🙀
@ it’s not 100% accurate!!! you only made the video because everyone else is using it you have to use aquarium safe silicone not just for the safety but because it last and keeps your tanks from leaking which is the main issue….
This is the last time I’m going to say this. After that, I’m ignoring you. It’s 100% aquarium safe, I’ve been using it for years. Silicone GE 1 is fish safe and lasts. Do your Fuqn research. ✌🏾
So I find after scraping all the silicone I prefer to use Acetone to clean the glass it works well removing those last little bits and evaporates really fast. So I edited out my part about the 7 minutes as I misunderstood your title. I thought you meant you can do it in 7 minutes my bad. 😢 But I hope we can agree to disagree with me, but personally I would have sealed the entire tank. I say that because new fresh silicone on old cured silicone can still leak over time with water pressure. With a small tank probably not an issue but with a large tank it for sure could be an issue better safe than for me. Rather have a fresh bead everywhere and cured all together just my opinion.
I would never put acetone in my aquariums but that’s just me. I’m also not ruining perfectly good silicone. No need to do all sides when clearly the leak came from one section. Again, that’s just me. And obviously the 7 mins was the video. Not everything that happened behind the scenes. Sounds like you’re leaving some shade on my light. Have a blessed day.

I love that you are straight to the point and only relevant information without a lot of fluff. Perfect and thank you for this video
Thank you. I appreciate that.

@@TheFishCorner I hear you Cleve,and I will,I just hate re-sealing tanks!!
Doing a lot of maintainance today, but I`ll get to it this week.
PEACE!!

is there a difference between silicone and aquarium sealant from the pet store?
Aquarium sealant is for aquariums and silicone that’s GE silicone 1 is safe. All others shouldn’t be used for aquariums.
Any thing labelled for aquarium use is marked up 400%. 100% Silicone Sealant is what you want from either the fish store or a home improvement store.
Where did you get that scraper? thanks
Home Depot
I like the black silicon as the clear silicon never stays clean looking for long.
Cool.
Cleveland, where would I buy a scraper like that one?
Home Depot.
@@TheFishCorner Appreciate it.....thanks!!
I did not see you do the vertical sides of the tank. Why not?
I didn’t need to. The leak was on the bottom.

nice video
Thank you.
Your welcome anytime
TIL that some caulk guns have tip cutters....
As far as I know, all of the have cutters at this point.
You really have to reseal the entire tank if its just one corner that is leaking?
No but if you feel like you want that peace of mind. You should.
