    This drill is good, but the best drill for this application would be the Flex 24v Hammer Drill from Lowes. Make sure it's their most powerful one. It has a turbo mode that brings it to 2800rpm and peak torque comes in at 117ft lbs or 1400 inch lbs.

      But the noise will piss off all life underwater. Consider other things than enjoyment

      @@1979Spica You do realize the alternative is a gas engine, right? The idea of a drill powered propeller would be an alternative to a small dinghy engine. Otherwise, most people would go buy an old smokey Tohatsu 2.5hp 2 stroke that sounds like a 70s moped. The drill is a lightweight, portable alternative to an outboard. Also, small outboard motors peak at 5000-6000rpm. 2800rpm in comparison is slow (like a diesel). However, the 2000rpm peak speed that most drills have is ridiculously slow. 2800rpm will at least get you to jogging speed instead of walking speed.

      @@1979Spica But yes, if you think a drill will disturb the fish, I'll just use a 2 cycle outboard motor. That's fine with me. Can't beat an ol screamin 2 stroke.

      Metabo kills flex and metabo is water proof

    • @Detroit6V92TA
      @Detroit6V92TA 5 місяців тому

      @@grimthreeper4112 Metabo does have slightly more torque, but only tops out at 2100rpm. Flex still has a 700rpm advantage, which is a 33% higher redline. It's a tiny boat. You don't need a ton of torque, just more revs.

    After spending several hours watching UA-cam videos all about small outboards - 2.5 to 3.5 hp and comparing them to electric motors for my Intex Mariner 4, I happen upon your video. But I'm in Canada, so the exact same rig on Amazon up here is $600.
    Fortunately, my daughter lives in Florida, and we're vacationing in Naples FL this winter, so I'll be buying it Stateside.

      I live in Ontario Canada and I just looked up the exact same item on Amazon Canada and it's listed at $163.58 with free delivery. I don't know where in Canada you are but it definitely isn't $600 now.

    I built my own boat out of foamular sheets, and I'm tired of paddling already. I'm going to have to give this a look I already have the drill and I have four of the jumbo batteries. I'm glad I ran into this

    • @greyscout01
      @greyscout01 Рік тому

      I'm going to figure that out. I've got the folding Tucktec Kayak, which isn't set up for a trolling motor... but this I can see filling that gap perfectly! Thanks

      @@greyscout01 Those things are sinking time bomb. They are very dangerous in the winter time even heard of some people drowning from hypothermia because they all collapse at one point. They collapse at the seams. I was super close to buying one until i read the horror stories on reddit. I went with a different vessel one that i will showcase on my channel. It's better than a foldable kayak in every single way, and it fits in my backpack. From what i can tell they start to collapse at around 24-40 uses.

    • @greyscout01
      @greyscout01 6 місяців тому

      @freshandsaltyjohnny Haven't heard those stories. Can't imagine how they'd just collapse. Once they are locked into position, they are solid. No less than your average budget kayak. I've had mine a couple of years and a couple of dozen uses . Don't see anything like that happening. Naturally, anything man-made can fail, but using mine, and inspecting closely how they're built, it just doesn't seem plausible.

  • @freshandsaltyjohnny
    @freshandsaltyjohnny 6 місяців тому

    If you're in construction and already own various drills and loads of battery's sure this can work if you just bought the prop and shaft piece. Otherwise just get a trolling motor and a lithium battery.

    • @HaasGrotesk
      @HaasGrotesk Рік тому +2

      @@TightlineTV It's not about you making other content. It's about continuity. I think people are annoyed because you jump back and forth. That's the case with me at least. If you start the bass cat then finish the bass cat and move on to something else and that would've been fine. But you keep jumping back and fort between boat build and clickbait content and that's annoying. You also might want to look at who your audience is. A lot of people subscribed to you because you seemed like a pretty serious channel with good content about boat building and upgrading but then you went with "amazon challenge" where you buy cheap BS from Amazon to test. That might be cool with the younger audience that like brainless stuff but your audience seems to be more serious people wanting to learn stuff that you show them. I can say that you inspired me to buy EVA flooring for my boat and the result turned out amazing. The upgrade made my boat a million times better. That's what I at least subscribed for and if your goal was to inspire someone to make something that you make then you succeeded with me. But if your goal is to have clickbait videos about buying cheap stuff then I unfortunately am not the audience for that. I have a very limited time where I can watch videos on youtube because I have work and I like to spend my free time in the real world and not on a computer so I am very picky about who I give my time to. If the content is not for me then I respectfully thank for the time and I move on. Just like I did with you. I hope my critique was constructive enough and not just random ramble.
