    *Great little trolling motor **enjoyable.fishing** recommend had it hooked up to my 15 foot old town canoe and it pushed it pretty good with me and my son (220 pounds each).*

    Love it.. So simple yet not obvious. I think I'll be making one of these soon. I've been experimenting with alternative trolling motor sources since conventional trolling units draw so many amps.
    Could also hold the propeller in place by driving a spiked washer into the plastic if someone doesn't want to drill a hole in the all thread for the pin that holds the propeller.

    What a great instructive video. I have a fishing kayak, and have been looking for some kind of propulsion system. This is great. I built one ! Was pretty easy to do too. Thankyou for doing this video !! The slight change I made was making the pool noodle a bit longer on the high (drill) end - this allows me to rest the device on more kayak surface area. Thanks again !!

    I've modified a couple of things to make this work better. Video to come soon. There are lockdowns now in my city...so I have to wait to test the new and improved diy drill paddle.

    My boat is made out of 4x8 ft folded coreplast.
    Fits hanging out of car trunk.
    I need to order prop.
    May buy 2-300 watt solar panels to run it around Shuswap lake BC Canada

    Thanks for the vid. I'm putting a trolling motor on my kayak with a home built pwm. I'm wanting to take some type of back up until I'm sure everything works ok. haha

    I have an inflatable sea eagle packfish 7 and this would be perfect for it. Something that can be taken apart and stored on a small fishing raft and I won't have to get worn out on the Wabash river

    Something like this might work for the boat I'm building in Liloan, I want a reverse drive for my boat because you can't get marine gearbox here so boats only have forward, no neutral or reverse.

    As the developer of the DP, and patent holder, I appreciate your engineering!
    I also understand your dilemma with shipping costs and availability of this product!
    We are currently sold out and expecting another shipment soon.
    Please reach out when you try it out?
    I may send you a DRILL PADDLE!
    Thanks

      I'd love it if you could send me an original Drill Paddle when you get the new batch in. Please contact me via email at Michael.d.kaylor@gmail.com. I can do a series of reviews on the Drill Paddle and compare it with DIY models. Please keep in contact.

    Thanks for the informative video. I made one pretty much as you described. I have an 8' Creek Boat, so I used a 6' all thread rod. I'm using a 20V Black and Decker Cordless Drill. It was difficult to guide the cigar shaped boat, the boat wanted to go sideways. I had better results when I laid the assembly on the Bow of the boat and ran it in Reverse. Can you possibly record a video of your paddle in operation?
    Thanks again.

      Yes. I do have a video with me using it. Check my channel. I have a 12.5 ft inflatable kayak. Once you figure out how to hold it an steer it, it goes pretty straight.

    Any idea if using these woukd be considered "adding a motor" to a craft? I'm trying to figure out if I would have to register my craft if I use this. In Texas anything below 14 feet, and all rubber inflatables are exempt unless you add a motor, electric or gas. I just need to figure out what adding means in this context. If it's not attached to the boat, have you added it to it?

    • @mikesyoutubechannel6367
      @mikesyoutubechannel6367  2 роки тому +1

      The rules suck for that in the US now. I had to register everything when I lived in Florida. Now I'm in the Philippines. No need to register the srill paddle here.

      Sure, use 30 of these to power a yacht or speedboat with no reg.
      Shouldn't be a problem.

    I think your vidéo is very helpfull to me.
    Could you please tell me where I can find this propeller with the accessories.
    I'd like to make it for my float tube.

    That's looking pretty good.
    But wouldn't the threaded rod eat up the PVC end caps? I imagine the fiction will might also generate enough heat to sort of melt those end caps.

    • @robhill4352
      @robhill4352 3 роки тому

      My thought but you need the threads. Maybe put a steel grommet or something in the holes and oil them. Id pack strips of the noodle foam inside the tube for stability and to keep it from filling with water. The threads would make their own path then stop cutting the foam if it was too tight in places i think. I wanna do this

    • @mikesyoutubechannel6367
      @mikesyoutubechannel6367  3 роки тому

      I thought about that...and I put washers held by nuts on either side inside the PVC shaft so that the threaded rod stays centered. It's worked great so far. I'll make one with an aluminum rod if I could find one in my area.

    Put a second nut on top of the other one and tighten them against each other. Better than a lock nut.

    I want to do this so bad but I'm just curious is it super dangerous to have a drill near possibly soaked in water?

    • @mikesyoutubechannel6367
      @mikesyoutubechannel6367  3 роки тому +1

      It's only dangerous to your drill if you drop it in the water. So don't drop your drill in the water. Lol That's why I bout a cheap Chinese knock off drill...just in case.

      It all depends on the model of drill you use and how many mah your battery is. I bought a cheap China knock off drill with 2 batteries. 1 battery lasts for about 15 minutes. You can't run it continuously, though.
