2022 TF - Arcadia Invite - 3200 (Boys Invitational)

- Here in the Southern Section, we are witnessing a golden era of high school distance running. This 3200 will be one of the races from this iconic era that you will watch over and over. 26 guys from around the country came to the Arcadia Invitational to compete against this Newbury Park army of 5. The pace is so brisk that 24 men end up breaking 9 minutes. Eight of them under 8:50. And, two of them under 8:40. Those two just a hair off the national record. All in the heart of the Southern Section. When will that happen again?
And, who else to call the race but the iconic voice of Tim "Here We GO" O'Rourke? He may have mixed up the twins but who doesn't?
This 3200 Meters Invitational race was held on April 9, 2022 at Arcadia High School in Arcadia, California.

I recall a scoreboard that listed 'L Young' as the second place finisher in a race, and 'L Young' as the 3rd place finisher, and it was correct.

Newbury Parks 4th runner ran a 8:52 and their coach didn't even acknowledge him. Sheesh.

that's leo young, his pr is like around 8:35, he was sick and still ran which is why his time was so bad comparably

I feel so sorry for Zane. He lives just a few miles from me. If not for Newbury Park he'd be a national sports hero. As is, he's forever coming in 3rd or 4th place, just another also-ran.
Same story here, I actually got the opportunity to train with him and the Niwot team last winter and he's a super nice guy

It is so weird when the camera is in front of them, it looks like they are jogging and then when it on the side view they are flying.

The boy in the gold and green is from Catawba ridge in South Carolina, it’s a three a school and this guy is crazy, he’s going to notre dame for track and tracked all the way to California

The summary. They didn't listen to their coach, so they didn't run as fast as they might have and broken the national record. But it didn't really matter, because they are Newbury Park, and completely crushed the competition anyway.

Am I the only one who notices that in most track meets, the field starts a bit quickly? For example, here's the last guy to complete each lap:

He's running at Colorado in Boulder. Doing very well. Couple of sub-4:00 miles and a 3:41 1500 this past season.

Imagine running the hardest race of your life and tryna rest with your team and having every camera in a mile jammed in your face… we love the content but that’s not necessary… they’re in HIGH SCHOOL.
Appreciate the feedback, and sorry you took the post race coverage in a negative light. Our intention is to show the amazing effort these elite high school athletes expend in achieving their times, and the support fellow competitors show one another post competition. It is part of the sport of distance running, and we're definitely not showing exhausted athletes to denigrate them. The whole purpose of our channel is to promote the sports of Track & Field and Cross Country, and lift up the athletes that choose to compete and give their best efforts.
Firstly, these are very talented young athletes and I wish them a good future. BUT... they are not "Men" or else they would be running in an adult recognised race distance instead of High School "Boys" races, essentially for children. These races are not recognised anywhere in the world except in the United States. (I'm talking 1600m and 3200m races). It's a real shame when it would be so easy to change to official race distances ie: 1500m or the old Imperial Mile distance of 1609m.
