I know that Gulp smelt minnows are really good but they got bad and turn dark if exposed to open air in the bag and they dry up without the bag. I know that the best frogs are LunkerHunt and R2Sea. I know that there's the other plastic one that have those paddle legs for topwater. I know where you can get cheap hatchery dust. I know what a through-blade is. I know what a hare's ear is. I know what SAGE makes. I know what Southern Pro stingers are. If you can have one lure, it should be a hog.

I miss the olden days of fishing big baits before it became a trend. We were a select few and we were blessed with select fish. Now swimbaits are treated like a commodity and every little kid is throwing some type of big bait
this is lake casitas but it doesent mean this bait works all year around every day they were there right after a heavy trout stock and they knew where the fish were and why and how to catch them u can throw a swimbait or a top water lunker like that all day and not catch anything
Hard to get a straight answer about rods because there are so many models but you need something heavy or xtra heavy seven and a half to 8 foot to throw at least 20 lb mono or 40-80 lb braid on, something with a longer handle that feels comfortable to you, throwing these things all day is taxing and you need something comfortable so try different ones out. My personal rod is a Loomis gl2 957c. Those numbers mean it's 95 inches long and a 7 power blank! It gets it done! Good luck!

I personally use a Dobyns 805C for the 6in and 8 in models and the Dobyns 766SS for the 6 in punkers
