Nice! Glad I found someone who also records multiple "official" takes of his acoustic guitar to create a wide sound, instead of using 2 mics! Keep up the good work!
Your mixing technique videos are such a wealth of knowledge, please keep it up. I’ve learned so much everything that you went over in this channel has all been super useful. Great advice for these genres. Bring on the knowledge.
Thank you for making this video. Recording and Mixing acoustic guitar is so difficult I will definitely use these tips. Your songs are very nice I follow you on Spotify. I’m glad I discovered your channel
My best friend has been playing acoustic guitar since we were kids. We used to go to the local Boys and Girls Club on fridays for their open mic nights, and really thats where we met and got so close. And to this day, his playing, voicing , delivery, is so passionate that it actually makes me a little envious. I'm a better rapper and music engineer, but NOTHING compares to a passionate acoustic player's singing and strumming while they feel that lightning coursing through them. This is going to help so much in bringing his ideas that I've seen manifest for the last ten years, come to life.
It's kinda funny how close the human voice and acoustic guitar behave when being processed. The human voice is uniquely broad across the whole spectrum, in the same way an acoustic guitar is. Maybe that's why pitch perfect people resonate so heavily with acoustic guitars. Just beautiful. I love music.
Good video! , I tend to add a tiny bit of compression too and maybe group buss compression , but I think saturation add slight compression to them too, I could be wrong.
Thank you! Compression can certainly be a good move for acoustic. I do that plenty but it just depends on the song. And you’re right about saturation. It’s a form of compression. Sometimes saturation does the job on its own.
Do you have any tips for recording (clean) electric guitars into studio one? I hooked mine up to my interface, and played it, but the sound sounded like a cheap guitar vst when I played it back
Are you only using the direct sound through the interface? Or are you also running some plugins like an Amp sim (like Ampire in Studio One) & plugins like saturation through the track as well?
Hmm. The only thing I can think of is maybe you’re clipping by having too much gain on the input on your interface. Other than that, a basic DI sound is supposed to sound pretty lifeless if there’s nothing on it.

Fully agree with you on using just 1 mic my man. That's all I do & then just duplicate and pan.
Can you please make a video on "How to Produce vocals like Thom Yorke" - New albums
The haunting feel that Thom adds to his vocals...
Solid. The only reason I'd consider two mics.. is Jimmy Page. Admittedly not there as an engineer yet so totally agree with you.
Thank you!!!

@@theindiemusiclab I have plugins on my track, but the initial guitar sound doesn't sound good when I record it in.
