Looking back, I think it was by the Madly in Anger tour (2003-2004) when Jaymz made the switch from pretending to be that larger than life character fans expected him to be back in the 90s to being the man, the human, the person. And I have liked that ever since, it made Metallica look like poeple rather than gods which is an attitude from some fans that I have always disliked. It made me feel more conected to the band than before. The human touch/side.
Lars needs to tether himself to Rob more and his drum skills may get more enhanced. Drums and bass gotta be one unit especially in metal . That being said who am I to say that . Metallica does what it wants and it's worked for em. But still gotta say it. I'd just like to see what would happen if Lars and Rob got more attached and James and Kirk worked together more without Lars's input on the riffs and solos.
Rob is the most skillful bassist. no disrespect to Cliff n Jason. Rob is the perfect session bassist. Theres a video of him playing bass with a japanese jazzkeyboardist. highly technical stuff. bet Cliff cant play that let alone Jason
You are off your rocker dude. Both Jason and Rob are perfect "session bassists". Just watch Year and A Half In The Life Of Metallica to how close of attention Jason paid to the whole process. He was in it to win it.
Rob is indeed the best all round bass player Metallica has had. Jason was/is the best frontman suppot guy and he created that connection with fans that Jaymz could not (he was also on point in the studio. Cliff was the best song writer of the 3 (I dont Ron was ever given the chance to write anyhting). but we could always wonder how adaptable he would have been though, it is all conjecture at this point. They all have/had their strenghts and improvement areas. We know people put Cliff on a god altar cause he's gone,. He was so good and fun to watch, but we know his legendary was posthumously-optioned-sadly as everybody wish he was still around incluing his future replacements.

Thanks for posting, this is awesome 👍👍
I've always wondered how he gets that massive bass sound at the start of The Day that Never Comes. Hearing it live it's almost an explosion
I remember Rob playing with Black Label Society. Rob is a beast on the bass.
I've always been comfortable in front of a crowd. It's the one on one I've always had anxiety with.

Well, Cliff can't play nothing at all....ya know....cuz he's dead?..
Who cares about the technicality? Dude hasn't written a single memorable Metallica song, unlike Cliff and Jason.
Cliff could play the side of a fire truck and make it sound insanely good. What u talking about dude lol

Metallica is now shirts on the TikTok crowd.
Is Rob playing Master of Puppets differently than Cliff?
Hetfeld in a bad mood? Nah 😂
Like to see Jason then Rob
They all look sooo sad
oh boy, stop telling us what you think we want to hear… Kirk is a virgin 🤣 and that tooth pick😒
