After having my Mercury stolen (man I loved that board) I replaced it with the Outerspace living purely for cost reasons. Have just finished one of my best weeks of riding ever. We had all conditions over the week and this board can do anything. Bang on with the review, perfect for an intermediate progressive all mountain freestyle rider, like me!
hows the chatter/dampness of it? I rode the mercury and it was awesome but a tad bit too stiff. Hower it dampened almost any small vibrations, wondering if the OSL does this too
Thanks for the great review!
You said this board is a little soft, but for someone who's a smaller dude. (120lbs - 165lbs) It's the perfect amount of stiffness, even on huge jumps!
The board itself is pretty light, making it easy for rotations, and it has really good pop, too!
I'm 5'8" 140lbs. Board size 154
Definitely recommend this board!
how do you compare this to DOA? Have you ridden a doa?
First time snowboarder here. This is the board I went with since last year model with the skulls wasn’t available. Thanks for the video.
Now at the age of 31 , i will start snowboarding and i got this snowboard as my first snowboard. I hope i dont have any issues with this board. i loved the part where you said "you can get weird with this board" :D thats exacly what i want, to get weird :D i dont like going super fast and curving super hard, but i love just some chill rides, riding some switch maybe, doing newbie butters and riding power. nice review, im glad i found you on youtube!
Hi do y have any feedback for us after trying the board? I'm thinking of taking it too as a first board, but some say it's for intermediate raiders
@@marcopenso5854 Hello, all i can say is that i love that board, i really got 0 regrets. its really forgiving, i noticed many times that when i would normaly catch an edge, the board was like " not today buddy, i got you" :D , i mean, it lets you know when you do something that you didnt, without panishing you (if that makes sense). From my prespective, its really easy turning board, lightweight and i did some low speed carving also with no issues, i really didnt find anything negative for the board. 10/10 totaly recommend it.
@@Destector. that sounds great. thank y so much for these useful information
I own the older model with the astronauts on it and forgot the year. This review sounds like it remains unchanged except for the graphic. Solid board to progress on and does leave you wanting more when riding through icy conditions.
2020. I got the same one 🔥 looking to upgrade but still shopping around
Bought this board. Really like it as an all mountain board. Does not hit big kickers good at all. Performs decent in the park. Noticed it’s harder to throw 360s. Really enjoyed powder days tho. Overall 7.5/10
I also think that is harder to throw 360's. At least harder then my DOA.
Thanks for the in-depth review!
I chose this board this winter to get back into snowboarding after 15 years break. I have not tried it yet but I am hoping for a mix of good agility and reasonable stability for relaxed riding with friends. Mainly interested in doing low risk small jumps and flat tricks once I get the hang of the basics again. All rails and big jumps are out of the question, even for the years to come. I wanted a board that is symmetrical because getting very good at riding switch is high on my priority as well. Based on your review this board sounds pretty good for my purposes.
Just bought this for my first snowboard. Sick of using rentals. Not wanting a total beginner board. Hopefully I won't kill myself on this board, or maybe I will and it will be entertaining. Lol. J/K. See you on the mountain.
If you die that’s one less person in the lift line.
This thing sounds fun!
Just got one. Only used it at big snow ( indoor slope) so far it’s good. Want to test it on the mountain soon
Ayyy! I was just there this weekend I rented a board. Now I’m looking to buy one. Was looking at a mercury but I also have to spend money on the boots lol so I’m looking at packages and this one is decent binding and boots for 700
I was blown away by how well it performed in powder and still don’t quite understand why it did
I agree 100%. Really solid in powder surprisingly.
did you put your bindings all the way back for pow? I got this board and I want to try that.
Thank you!
Intermediate snowboarder, for Asian snow conditions (mostly resort - groomers and green/blue/red/black lines), that is tired of rental gear, thinking of buying this boad. Used a Mercury before, it was great however it seemed to feel better when being aggressive. Would this board be good to get as only board instead? It seems it will be bit softer. 6", 200lb, 10-10.5 shoe thinking of getting a 158
Maybe
@@AngrySnowboarder is the maybe for the size or the board? If for board, any suggestions on other boards? I looked at your reviews of the Bataleon Thunderstorm and K2 Gateway Pop as alternatives.
i prefered doa 2023 , i dont know why :) what you think about this? :)
I think there's a review right here about this board.
I had rly good deal on union force bindings 2021 (99$ brand new bindings, damaged box), so I bought them. Will they be good match to the CAPITA Outerspace living? I am a beginner stepping into intermediate space, my riding is solid both normal stance and switch and I will be trying more aggressive carves and some jumps this season.
You’re good.
Are you planning to review the 23 mercury? :)
Didn't get one but from my understanding not enough of a change to warrant doing a new review.
Hi Angry,
Been mostly freeride the past 10 years. K2 Alchemist pow and charging.
Looking to get something more mellow to improve park, jumps and switch.
Would something directional like this/Warden be a good combo? Or something like Ride Zero/Yes Dicey?
I don’t really spend much time in the park… but feel like I’m missing out on a lot of riding not giving it a serious go this season!
You can do any of those for what you’re looking for and they’ll help you get into park.
great review! will you have review for the new Capita Spring Break Powder Racer 2023 ?
Nope, didn't get one.
Hey man I'm 155 5'4 I was looking at the 2023 Capita DoA I have a k2 party platter 147 from 2022. Is this good true twin board, pretty much want it to be my daily, mainly into small/medium jumps sidehits, some carving and getting into park.
You plan on reviewing the Capita Scott Stevens 23’?
Thanks for the awesome review! I have a good deal for 18/19 outer spaceliving that have sintered base. Can I ask if there's any difference between this year's with the 18/19 OSL? Thanks in advance!
Search is hard: www.angrysnowboarder.com/tag/outerspace-living-snowboard-review/
Hi angry, I did saw that. But mines the next year’s one. So I’m guessing it’s the 2019, the full black Outerspace which had a different construction to the 2018. Would like to seek your advise on 2019 vs 2022/23. Thanks again!
@@dpj9421 graphics change from year to year. It's the same board as in the video. Avran usually doesn't ride the same board year after year if nothing has actually changed about the board. Are you one of those people that think a certain colour will make you somehow go faster or slower?
@Zeon you’re either illiterate or thick in the head. If between the 18/19 and the 22/23 board doesn’t have any difference besides the graphics then Avran wouldn’t have different reviews between them. Also, if you look at capita’s website, the two boards have changed in terms of construction as well as set back. Yes it might be minor but it’s a change. Thus asking an experience and respected rider like Avran but not you, illiterate individual, turd.
@@dpj9421 hahaha. Searching is hard:

Hey Angry - venturing into my first board after riding rentals for years. Moved to CO this year and hope to see you around Copper sometime!
I'm early/mid intermediate and mostly carve blues and some blacks, but wants to be able to get into park and do some butters. In other words, enough flex to have some fun, but enough stability and grip to really rip it as I progress.
For these purposes, would you recommend the OSL or the Ride Shadowban?
I'm going to throw a wildcard at you Rome Warden.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks for the reply man, checking you review on it and it looks great for me.
It's the perfect Copper do everything intermediate level rider board.
Hi there, wondering which size board should I get? I'm 165lbs, 5 ft 11 inches with size 11 boots.
157W probably if you don’t want any toe drag with the size 11 boots
@@grantcalvin thanks. Was deciding on 157W, 158 or 159W. But given the waist width of the 158, that leaves me with 157W or 159W then. I'm assuming 159W be too long for my weight/height?
@@migsmagsy yea I mean not too much but more than you need. The wider boards have more swing weight so shorter will be better for maneuverability. Not much of a difference but better to go shorter since you have the option.
I actually just picked up a 159w the other day with the sales. 6’3” 210. If you prefer one base color over the other you can always decide based on that if you really wanted to
Howdy, are green Burton Cartels still good--if the heelcup screw is stripped--and I can't turn it to be parallel with the board?
Drill it out and put a new screw in.
Own 156. Yes Sir, it's gonna be great.
same here 🙌🙌
Trying to decide between this board and the DOA
which board did you go with? I'm on the same dilema
Is this a better board for a progressing low intermediate than the Craft and the Raygun?
I wouldn't necessarily say it's better just different. The sidecut is better than the Craft but flexwise they're all real similar.
Can you do a review of the 2024? Or is it basically the same board different graphic?
Same board.
@@AngrySnowboarder k thanks 🙏🏼
Would you say that this board+union str bindings for 520 bucks is a good deal for an intermediate rider who wants to do a bit of everything or are there better options out there within this price range? Thanks
Hell yeah it is.
Yea I just got that set up for 700
Hi Avran! How does this compare to the Yes Basic?
Little less snap and doesn't have the same underfoot edge grip.
My son been riding few yrs but still a beginner. Do u suggest this over a pathfinder so there's room to progress?
If it's been a few years and he's still a beginner I'd suggest some more lessons.
@@AngrySnowboarder 10-4 👌🏼 He's only been out 10x or so.. been tough getting on our Mtn. during pandemic. Was able to snag passes this year tho so we'll be up 2-3x/wk.
It’s for beginners or for already expert snowboarders?
Beginner to Intermediate.
Can we ride this straight from factory or is 1st waxing needed?
Go shred.
Would the nidecker supermatics be a bad fit for this board?
No
This might be asking too much for a “perfect” board, but I figured I’d ask for your angry opinion.
I’m getting back into riding after 5ish years of not, and wanting to get a new setup since what I have is old and hand-me-downs (145 Forum Youngblood, 2006 model). Probably 40lbs heavier than I was then (180lbs~ now) at 5’6-5’7, 9-10 boots.
I’m looking for something that is good for some chill cruising and park with the buddies, but has stability and handling for some quick sends down the mountain. Been leaning towards the Indoor Survival in 154, but also have DOA, OSL, Huck Knife, and Shadowban as other considerations, in around the 154~ size. Do you have any input or other recommendations, mr angry, sir?
Shadowban all day then DOA if it’s not available. Welcome back!
@@AngrySnowboarder Wich binding would you recommend on the DOA ?
DOD or Vice or Strata or Atlas ?
Or Flux XF
@@AngrySnowboarder would you still recommend the Ride C6 binding for my riding style? Or maybe the C8 or Rome DOD?
@@AngrySnowboarder evo has a couple Shadowban packages, one that comes with the C4 and one that comes with the A4, are either of those a good match?
Thanks for the review. I cant choose between the Yes Basic and the Capita Outerspace Living for my first board. Im past the inital stage and can make linked turns without falling at decent speed. Which one would you advice between those two? Goal is to playful ride/cruise groomers with little jumps, tricks, etc. Here and there some powder occasionally. No carving or high speeds (50+ mph) yet.
You know you don't have to leave a comment on every review right?
@@AngrySnowboarder not necessarily for you to answer both ofcourse, but also really curious for other viewers' opinions. Thanks in advance for answering once of those!
Between this and the typo which do you prefer and why do you prefer that one?
Are we buying a board for me or for you?
@@AngrySnowboarder well me I guess lol. I’m sure you’d be looking for higher tier boards. They seem to be similar in camber profile and what terrain they’re targeting. Just wondering if one is “better” over the other.
OSL is closer to the Basic than the Typo. You're comparing a crab apple to a Fuji.
@@AngrySnowboarder hahaha alright. That actually answers my question. I thought they were more on par with each other.
@@AngrySnowboarder which do you think is better for a low end intermediate on the east coast?
Yes Typo or this one?
Sure.
Yo, can you please do a review on the spring break powder twin?!
Searching is so hard ugh! ua-cam.com/video/TGX7qMjbIeI/v-deo.html&feature=emb_title
My fault, thank you sir. Should I buy one with my proform?
First rule of proform club is we don't talk about proform club. Now you know the first rule as you have broken the first rule.
@@AngrySnowboarder understood, I apologize, thank you for explaining that rule.
the slim profile of the old indoor survival? slim like the old indoor survival ... boot out deck
