Trying a new variable length introduction instead of the standard length ones. This way, if I say 'shit' at let's say 6 seconds into the video, I just put 10 seconds of intro in and then I say shit at 16 seconds and that avoids the video being entirely demonetised. I also think it'll help solve the cratering retention from people clicking off to watch other sites, while that's good for those sites when UA-cam sees that they stop recommending the video altogether even to the rest of my UA-cam subscribers. It's that or I start adding a "DON'T FORGET TO RING THE BELL GUYS" message to each video. thanks youtube, you're a real youtube.

It's awesome to watch Rimmy and friends showcasing a game they're enjoying. Looking forward to more like this! I would also ask if ramming is a thing in this game - I assume it is - but given how lethal combat seems to be, I don't think most ships survive long enough to try.

That story about a American sub "getting it's periscope stuck, and accidently flying a Japanese flag", while it sunk merchant ships sounds like a cover up. Real UA-cam situation
I'm imagining a game on the scale of Stellaris, with all the same systems and open-endedness, where campaigns can go on for weeks, months or sometimes years... *But with this depth of combat. This, or Homeworld's combat. A mix of the two, maybe.* And now that I've imagined it, I'm gonna go cry for a while about the fact that such a game might never exist.
There's some mad lad out there who managed to mate the gameplay of Europa Universalis and Total War, so it might not be entirely impossible. But i can imagine the fps dropping to shit after one thousand steerable missiles entered the void between five hundred corvettes jousting at flank speed to death.
The next major update is going to be adding a new micro grand strategy gamemode to the game called Conquest (solar system scale). Though there's not going to be much focus on civillian infrastructure or diplomacy and the such.
Missiles in this game are way to expensive in my opinion, here’s an example, one large six missile battery filled with 6 size three missiles can cost up 600+ points, for reference, thats as much as much as a maxed out corvette, and one of my beam destroyers costs 900 something.
The ships travel through space at very high speeds so once they near their destination they flip around and use their engines to slow down. The front facing engines are not nearly powerful enough to do this.
I'm garbage with designing missiles. At least I think I am. I rely on the Thunderheads (the vanilla version) and a ship-killer size that I haven't had success with. How's the Tempest type work out for you (if you made it vs it being default)?
For the Lunar class, you can build a Lineship like the one Rimmy is using and strap mass drivers meant for use as spinal weapons for smaller ships into its broadsides. Marine combat boarding is going to be added eventually. If you mean the aesthetic though, yeah you're going to need to wait for a modder to make Imperium inspired hulls. At least you can give your ships Imperial insignia and gothic names though.
Fun fact: In most games, plasma is an elite weapon found in big ships. In Neb, its pretty much the equivalent of a molatov cocktail gun since the Protectorate are just revolutionary's led by an old navy commander.
In an even more literal sense than you might think - most games have plasma weapons fire big globs of self-sustaining plasmoids (which are actually physically impossible, sorry). In Neb, it's just a magnetic bottle containing plasma that breaks open when it crashes against the side of a ship.
@@taco5225 There are a lot of reasons why those would not work in space over the distances needed for long distance warfare. In any case, this game still has somewhat unrealistic plasma. Plasma (if it's feasible) ought to be an even more specialized knife fight weapon, or even a PD weapon similar to chaff. Alternatively you might have cause to load it onto a drone or missile platform and have it as either part of the warhead or as an engagement tool during transit. Alternatively, plasma only exists as a weaponized drive plume. A lot of short range things are feasible on a missile or drone, and remote systems are underutilized from what I've seen so far. (For an example of what could be done-missiles with PD guns! Missiles with missiles! Drones with missiles that are themselves missiles! Missiles that produce chaff in front of an enemy, so that their own missiles explode early!)
