I see a lot of bands going at music like they're in the Olympics. I dig a lot of super fast bands or bands w crazy writing, but first and foremost I need to feel like it was created as what they want to play, not just to push bpms and notes on the guitar/bass. At that point, it becomes soulless and forgettable to me.

LOL he played in one of "those" bands for most of his career. Time changes that served no purpose other than to show the band could do them... SMH
But at least he's maturing out of that.
