The Royal family group actually asked MJ not to perform this song but Diana said this was her favorite song, it just shows how Diana and the Royal family had different ideas
I love what you said about how he never uses his voice but his whole body. Its so true!! He literally becomes the music. He doesnt miss a single note or beat. For every single song. Even the slow songs he cant stay still. Its mind blowing but its what made him above everyone else!
One of my favorite songs,I’m actually named after Michael Jackson in tribute to my oldest sister who died 3 months before I was born and that shaped my life because I actually remember the nightmares my mom had when I was still in the womb so I was born a bit messed up and then life gave me many more problems, but I always loved MJ especially when he went rock
6:58 im so glad you said this as I have been saying this since 1982 as an 11 years old. He is a HUMAN INSTRUMENT and when he used to say he feels the music I believe him. You see his chest and hips and shoulders when he sings and really gets into it. The music is what drove him and where he was his happiest.
The guitarist is the excellent Jennifer Batten, who toured with Jackson for a few years. After Beat It on the Thriller album (with its Eddie Van Helen solo) and then Dirty Diana on Bad (with brilliant guitar work from Steve Stevens), Jackson needed a rock virtuoso to tour with and make a key part of those songs live.
I don’t know how I missed this...but YES. This is one of my favourite MJ songs (the video, which looks very much like the live performance, is super sexy) and this is one of those songs where the emotion just seeps out of every pore of his body. Gives me chills every time. LOVE IT! Miss you MJ! ❤️
Michael met Princess Diana briefly before the show, and she told him not to exclude the song from the list cause she love it! And why youtube not promote this vid ?
There is a video of Michael meeting Lady Diana and Prince Charles prior to this concert. He told her that out of respect he didn't plan including this song. She said No, no! I love this song! You must do it! So he did. I am sure he was secretly pleased that she too was a fan. As far as performing with his body, mind, heart, and soul, one of his back up dancers selected for "This is It" once said that Michael changed his whole way of looking at dance. He said if a deaf person was watching Michael dance, they would able to see the music flowing through body. Meaning not just memorizing routines perfectly but allowing every part of you to express the music. 100% each and every time. Unbelievable 🎶
Only I find it: Fantastic, wonderful, unique, incredible, unrepeatable the genius to take to the stars ???? I LOVE YOU MICHAEL since I was 16 I am 63 and now I will never stop !!! Thanks Valerie for the beautiful videos and the beautiful words for Michael. If he really "GONE" TOO SOON !!!!
Lovely reaction as always :D Just one thing though, it's not an auditorium. It's Wembley Stadium in front of 72 000 people! And I agree with the comment below here, his vocal performance in New York at Madison Square Garden was alot better. Much earlier in the tour, that was in early March and this, as you said, was in July. An thank you so very much for doing these reactions to Michael! Always enjoyable and insightful!
Michael is so amazing, seeing his concert is breathtaking, I love it when you get his reaction. sorry if there is a mistake in the words I am from Brazil, I am not fluent. haha ha
Actually, before the concert Princess Diana (a HUGE fan!!!) asked to meet him. When she did, she asked if he was gonna do "Dirty Diana". MJ had already taken it out of the show out of respect for her. Diana said "NO!" "I want you do it, do the song!" Then she said "It was an honor to meet you." Michael said "It's and honor to meet you!" That is really cool...I honestly can see why Di loves this song! It is one of my favorites!!! P.S. The acapella version on UA-cam is absolutely amazing, and he actually is crying at one point, it actually gives me goose bumps!!!💯❤❤❤
I remember at the time, silly folk trying to say the song was about Diana Ross, because they were also close. There’s even a clip, maybe around 1981 or ‘82, of her interviewing Michael & she says, ‘I always knew you would be great, but what I didn’t know was how sexy you would become….’, of course he was totally embarrassed. It’s interesting this being totally live, because the original video is done from live footage but is also highly produced, so technically is amazing, catching more dance moves & camera angles, etc., but this one has the guitarist be much more active & to actually spice up the raw live energy. Please react to Michael’s performance of his original song, ‘Your Were There’, which he sang to a tribute event for Sammy Davis Jr. in his later days. On another note, your impromptu vocal reference to Super Freak was absolutely priceless! 😅😂🤣👍
Michael Jackson and Prince…we shall never see their like again. Both were once in a trillinium artists, singers, writers, composers and performers. To think, they existed at the same time too. Weren’t we the lucky ones to have actually been alive and aware during their live era, and heard this incredible music as it was brand new? I was a kid when they ruled the world, and their music was everything, to everyone. Including me. They are part of the soundtrack of my life. So very, very lucky.
You just earned a new subscriber! I love all your Michael Jackson reactions. He was my first musical love from ages 4-8, and then I hid from Michael until the media stopped harassing him. I waited until the craziness settled down, and I was going to follow him on what would have been his last tour, but sadly, that never happened. 13 years after he left us, I am slowly starting to come back to Michael, his music, and his concerts among other things. I am just discovering his solo music for the first time and re-discovering his music with the Jackson 5, as an adult in my 30's and I'm glad that UA-cam has videos of him offstage as well so I can get to know him as a person even though he's not physically here with us anymore. Keep up the reactions to Michael! I can't wait to see what other artists you can do, like The Beatles or something. I only listen to old-school music, not today's boring stuff! LOL! My father was the one who introduced me to The King Of Pop and would play "Off The Wall" over and over in college. Now I'm in college and do the same thing. Michael Jackson was and always will be my first musical love and my childhood crush, LOL! I love the way how he sings and dances on stage too!
Acyually, she wasn't in the audience for this show, but she did attend another one. She met Michael before the show and asked if he would perform it that night and said he had taken it out in respect of her, and she was a bit saddened by that as it was her favourite song, but it was too late to put it back in again by then, as it was literal minutes before taking stage and he was in costume and everything, had given her and Charles tour jackets to give Harry and William and ended up remaining friends with Diana from then, but yeah...never got a chance to perform the song for her, sadly.
Great reaction! Dirty Diana is one of my favourites off Bad, and is usually the song I think of when I think of the Bad album🙂 You should react to Man in the mirror moonwalker version. You’ll see the true power of MJ’s impact, might make you tear up possibly.
Diana wasn't in the audience for this performance, Michael took the song out of the show as a sign of respect for her. She was quoted as saying it was her favourite song to Michael, who said it was too late to put the song back into the show.
He didn't sing the song when she was there. She asked him to do it before the concert but he said they couldn't change the Playlist. This is from a later date.
The story behind this song though, he wrote it about the women/girls who would show up backstage when he was younger and sleep with his brothers and his dad even, ruining his parents relationship, brothers relationship, scared it would tear their group apart,,,ruin what they'd worked so hard for all their lives...the girls that would try and do the same with him, but because of what he witnessed as a kid with his family, it just repulsed him, so he was writing the song, focussed on all that.
It’s interesting how he kind of speeds up some songs live. Fun fact: diana ross started entering some of her concerts to this song. MJ was a child star and probably had to deal with groupies from a young age. He’s said to have been made sad as a kid to see young girls kind of pursue the band & his brothers
P.S. Michael's last #1 hit was in 1995 (over 25 years after his first #1 hit!!!), and had 17 in his career. That is only 3 less than the Beatles. No band, no legendary song writers, legendary, musicians, and no real collaborations, although he would use his favorite guitarists for some of his songs and Quincy to produce many! Only "Rock with you", "Thriller", "Human Nature", and "You are not alone" were written by someone else! So he wrote 9 of his own #1 hits (4 were by Jackson 5 and Deke Richards from Motown wrote them, and Diana Ross').
I don't think I remember this one from MJ. I know one thing though, the guitar player was killing it right along side of Michael. Today, you won't see a guitar lead being so prominent throughout a song. That wouldn't be excepted in today's producers. Foolish thinking by them IMO. If it works let it happen. Michael could do anything. He was a true entertainer, similar to Elvis Presley. I know of only a few front men and singers today, actually 2 that I know of who can entertain an audience this way. I recently mentioned them in another reaction video you did of Liliac. And Melody is one of them. Courtney is the other.
Self written self composed self produced self performed. This is the real deal
