For anyone struggling with the conversion to polygons at the end not showing, make sure you take in to account the scale of your scene (how big it is supposed to be) and adjust nParticleShape1 > Particle Size > Radius to a higher value (depending on your scene scale) - thanks for the video, super helpful!

Thanks so much, lots of well explained info. Ive been looking for so long for a way to have snow particles build up on text.

omg! It's again something that I needed for my project :) I would love to see how you do a winter terrain with some trees and mountains :)

Hi it would depend on the viewing distance for me. For a close up I would consider laying on some snow geometry but for something far I would probably just give it a color like in the River tutorial. However your own project may have specific needs.

it might be a 2023 issue but when i convert my particles to geo, its tries to re-render the particles again, my mesh disapears and no matter how much forum surfing i do, i cant find a fix :(((

Many thanks! That worked very well and saved me a lot of time

    Thanks for the tuto !
But I have a problem, when I run the simulation, there is a space between the modeling and the snow, a few centimeters.
Do you know why ? And how can I fix it please ?
And the snow is very too big...

With a bit of addition work you can make a simple uv map instead of using multiple materials and make basic 4 coloured tile map as texture then align shells to coresponding colours, it helps you save some resources and allows you to modify textures easier and model will use less materials which also matters in game dev

Yes I agree. In these tutorials I just throw on some quick materials to change it up for presentation. For a scene in a game I would definitely go with a texture atlas. I tend not to create my texture atlases though too early as I prefer to keep the materials separate in the beginning so that I can test it with lighting and get the colors that I want. Once I am happy and have gotten it close then I would create the atlas.

my particles just stop falling at some point and I can never get them to collide with anything...

Can you please do a modelling lava tutorial next, your videos are cool!

Lava could be a fun one. Maybe see what's out there for now cause I don't think I will get to it any time soon. I have some other projects I need to finish up first.

Is there a way to do the converting from nParticles to polygons to create a mesh full of quads instead of triangles? Or would you recommend just hitting it with a retopology op afterwards? My Uni prof ... tolerates triangles in our assignments, at best. Thank you so much for the video, you've helped me a ton!

Hi I would try it both ways and see which one works out better for you. After you've converted the nParticles to Polygons you can go to the new mesh and open up the Attribute Editor and find nParticleShape1 > Output Mesh > Mesh Method and change it from Triangle Mesh to Quad Mesh. Then you will probably need to play with some of the settings such as Motion Streak to get the look you want. If that doesn't work I would try the Retopologize method. Hope that helps.

Heya, maybe a really personal question, but I really look up to people like you that (presumably) do what they like for work, I was wondering what kind field you work in, and what do you enjoy about it? And do you perhaps have any other remarks? haha, hope to hear from you. :)

Hi no problem. I split my time between working in game development and content creation such as this YT channel. I also have a website I'm developing that will launch some time next year that will provide courses to accompany this channel. Currently everything from the editing, thumbnails, motion graphics, and website development are done by me so I'm pretty busy. I enjoy it all though so it's not a chore.

@@DigitalDreambox thanks for the reply! If i may ask 1 more question, is this all freelance or as employee? Because i can imagine freelance bringing some more risks then employment. Great that you enjoy it! Hope you keep it up! :) ur doing a great job

Does this geometry not able to have a UV? I couldn’t get the UV layer to show up 🤔

Hi I don't have anything planned for the hypercasual genre but I am planning on a low poly course for sometime later this year. In the meantime I will try and get more one off low poly videos for this channel. Thanks for your interest.
