Good lord this brought me back... I sure liked the beat and the sound. BUT THE DANCERs in the background... hell yeah. They're all simply irresistible!! 😏
If memory serves, Palmer was also billed as "best dressed" in the music genre during the mid-late 80's. Seems I remember some voting contest on MTV (back when they used to actually play music videos) and he won by quite a large margin.
He did two of these videos with the girls like this that I know of. The other was "Addicted to Love". Both great videos. I believe the attempt was to make them "identical"
@@garylindsey5174 LoL, no worries! I only remember cause that's one of my favorite Palmer songs. And at our age we're lucky we remember even half of the 80s ;~)

RIP Robert. One of his underrated best songs is well worth a listen, Sneaking Sally Through The Alley. Robert was backed up by the great funk band, The Meters.
This was a follow up to Addicted to Love. He did the video as a parody of Addicted to Love. Whether you like him or not, he was THE BEST DRESSED MAN in music. He always dressed sharp.
Robert had such a great rocking voice. He could flat out belt out a rock song! Contrasted with him dressed in that clean suit and backed up by all those talented pretty women, it's just a cool video.
Ok, India, I've subscribed to your channel and it's the only one I officially subscribe to. Really enjoy your enjoyment of the songs and looove that you don't interrupt the songs every 2 seconds! You listens and get a feel of it and I like it.
My favorite of Palmer's was "Every Kind of People". "The "Addicted to Love" and "Simply Irresistible" videos were obviously inspired by Patrick Nagel graphic paintings that were very popular in the 1980s.
NOBODY is doing Palmer with Power Station "Some Like It Hot", which is my favorite Palmer performance!! He's with Duran Duran's John and Andy Taylor and it's SO freakin' good!
Ah, one of the quintissential 80's videos! This is the kind of thing MTV was made for, back when it was ALL music videos ALL the time. It's totally ironic, though - notice how he says "she's anything but typical", and yet all the girls behind him look exactly alike! ("Addicted to Love" was his other really huge hit, also populated by those identical girls.)
"Addicted to Love" I'd read was voted 3rd most popular Music Video of the '80's (And "Simply Irresistible" close). The article didn't say what the top2 were, but must be MJ's "Thriller" and "Beat It or "Billie Jean." On the "anything but typical" line, the girls look -nearly identical, yes, but not in a way one sees anywhere else; plus there's more than looks of course. I was surprised India didn't get that the model wasn't really playing the guitar (look at those nails!...) Glad she liked it a lot.
I so love Robert Palmer (RIP). I'm very glad you posted him. Would you consider a very different kind of Robert--"Every Kinda People"? Many thanks. I enjoy your videos!
Gidday, in 1988 I worked in an electrical appliance store in Brisbane Australia. When this came on the TVs, everybody stopped what they were doing and headed straight to the TV section. This and Expo 88 were the two things I remember from that year
A drop of chocolate ( awesome ) love some chocolate with marshmallows. Possible idea for reaction, never seen any one cover this group. ZZ Top. Sharp Dressed Man, or any some that other may have input on.
I think being yourself, is simply irresistible.....as for Robert Palmer he becomes the Gentleman's gentleman--nonviolent,non player, just himself. (Who knows, anyway the wind blows; he's always been a family man who knows that individuals live above the Fray, politics, gov't, revolution, fame and rot......too busy to ever worry about what should come out in the wash. Love this dove.To me he is simply irresistible.
Robert Palmer - so handsome, so suave, and that voice. That Voice. Loved him since the Sneakin’ Sally album. Check out Hey Julia/Sailin’ Shoes/Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley.
Ingrid Michaelson paid homage to this video in her song, "Girls Chase Boys" and it features both men and women of different ethnicities as the background models. Plus, it's a good song so I recommend that you react to it sometime.
Shania Twain had a video " I feel like a woman" which played off from this video, but had males in the background...I think around 1997... Would be a good followup video to review....thanks for the video
When I got older and discovered his earlier work I realized the 80's videos kind of pigeonholed Robert Palmer. He was one of the greatest white soul singers who ever lived. His versions of songs like Sailin' Shoes, Every Kind of People and Can We Still Be Friends are some of the best interpretive vocal cuts of that time period. Wish he'd stuck around longer.
Yr right India! A drop (or two or three) of chocolate would have been nice. You really would love Robert's "Addicted to Love". Same girls, a more catchy song.
I saw Robert Palmer in 1978 at a State College before he went crazy popular on MTV. Really the first real concert I attended. Band was super tight and it was REALLY REALLY LOUD... Possibly the loudest show I ever heard.
I miss Robert Palmer. He was a fantastic musician who put a lot of fun into his work. And he put out one of the best albums of the 1980s with "Riptide" from 1985. (Its the album the song "Addicted to Love" came from.) BTW, that guitar player was a dude in a dress. They even shaved his arms.
Agree about "Riptide" and "Fantastic" and "Fun." Guitar: It is the girl, but she's not really playing. Look at her nails... It's a reference to the "Addicted To Love" video where they all pretended to play instruments.
Great reaction! Robert Palmer was so talented and so classy. "Every Kinda People" is another one of his great songs, also check out "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)" He was taken far too early, RIP :(
Now you have to react to Shania Twain's 'I feel like a woman' video. It's like this but with men on the back instead of women. And the song is catchy too
India's getting her inner butch lesbian on. LOL
Is that a fanfic writing prompt?
Now now dont start questioning this ladies sexual preference. She doing a video review so dont troll her
Naa. I've seen how she looks at Tom Jones.
And how she looks at Elvis, Brad Paisley....besides....who cares, let her go, she is so much fun. GO GIRL.
Seriously? I am a big fan of George Michael, does that make me gay? Shutup!
Hair Metal bands in the 80s: "We've got all the T&A"
Robert Palmer: "Hold my Martini"
Way underrated comment, amazing.
But it's all done in the best possible taste! - Kenny Everett
Never mind the identical looking women, I’m looking at how cool Robert is in a suit. RIP Mr Palmer.
he def had coolness. Sexy man
He didn't even need those women dancing around! I would rather have watched him 😀
There is a certain James Bond - Bond Girl vibe going on.
Almost everybody looks better well-dressed. Some people, Robert Palmer was one of them, look better than others.
They look identical because they're wearing the same stuff, same hair and same make up.
