    IN the 80's, they needed something visually catchy for the MTV rotation. Most artists were musicians, not video producers. The first was Addicted To Love, which was a bit classier and this was a follow-up to it in the same theme. It became a iconic joke and you can see it used in other places later on by other folks (commercials, comedy, movies...) In this one, you can see Robert Palmer smirk right at the end (he thought it was ridiculous too). Music video producer/director's vs musicians.

    My take on this one is the ladies They ARE simply irresistible, and the lack of expression on their faces says "Yes, we're gorgeous, and you probably don't have a shot with any of us. But go ahead and try." Or something like that. I personally think the song and the video go together very well.

    Robert Palmer was a 70's soul singer who found a 80's pop rock revival with the band Power Station and also solo. He was smooth and funky in the 70's. Check out a song of his called "Sneaking Sally Through the Alley".

  • @SweetThing
    @SweetThing 5 років тому +1

    That was dancing in the 80's. Robert always wore a suit and tie, but he could really put out the vibes! And that was a girl playing guitar. If you don't think women can play guitar, react to the duo sisters group "Heart". Most of Robert back-up dancers played instruments, either drums and/or guitar. Robert Palmer was known for combining soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, and blues. Palmer's involvement in the music industry began in the 1960s & it covered four decades. Palmer received a number of awards throughout his career, including two Grammy Awards for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance, an MTV Video Music Award, and two Brit Award nominations for Best British Male Solo Artist. REACT to: "Every Kinda People". Robert died much too young in 2003 at the age of 54 from a heart attack. He was well loved and respected by his music colleagues, especially Seal. React to Seal's "Kiss From a Rose". And REACT To Robert's soulful bluesy "Mercy Mercy Me". :-) RIP Robert. xx

    This is where your wife walks in and says, "What are you watching?" Video and song were very popular during the time when MTV was really Music TV.

    When I got married to my second husband he had "She Makes My Day" by Robert Palmer playing when I got out of the car that carried me to the very small outside venue where we were married. It was the most romantic moment of my life - until the moment we said our vows, and then "Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush started playing. He could definitely give "romance" lessons to a bunch of whippersnappers.

    The idea behind the video, more specifically the previous video for Addicted to Love was to have models as background dancers and not regular dancers.
    The women in this video were not smiling as models on the catwalk do not smile.

    This video is a tounge in cheek/parody of the video of Robert Palmer's previous hit "Addicted To Love", which is one of the MTV-era most iconic videos. That's a must see, and you'll get this video then.

    Always thought it was about women getting plastic surgery, and eventually all looking the same. The women's looks were fashioned after famous artist "Patrick Nagel" who did many of "Playboy" magazines pages.)

      Thank you, I was trying to remember the name of the artist who had those pictures in the 80's they were everywhere.

    Ty I think addicted to love is a similar but lower key video. Only 5 girls... black dresses....not nearly this sexual...and the song is better. I never really paid attention to this video before but it's pretty ridiculous. Addicted to love is much much better.

    to me, the funniest part of the video was where the girls are lined up behind each other and they are swaying with their hands, while the camera is on their asses and legs hahhahhah 😅😂😂

    It was the 80s Dude. Robert Palmer had the voice of a Angel. Taken to Young. Listen to It could Happen to You if you want to hear his voice
