I for one appreciate the tiny explosion during removal. It made me spit my coffee out. Haha mission accomplished. Great video. I also APPRECIATE the "no intro". So many people add their INTRO reel to every video. I like to watch and learn. Thanks again. Refreshing change.
Thanks. I use a Mr. Buddy in my 28 ft. sailboat, with all the safety measures you do. I'm still a little nervous about it, but the ventilation is built in and the CO detector eases some of my worries.
worth noting: I live in Colorado and these are hard to light and often do not stay lit over about 10,000'. So, if you're camping at high altitude, plan on having an alternate source of heat.
Those Kidde carbon monoxide detectors are the best. They have a 10 year battery and will beep (loudly and alarmingly) if the sensor holes are blocked. I use the same one when I'm working in garages in the winter with my propane heaters. Great video, thanks!
So glad to have found your channel 🎉 Have wanted to build our truck out and you have been the best so far. We are almost 70 and need to figure out how to get in and out easier. Great videos ❤
Aww…why thank you very much! I appreciate the kind words and I’m glad you have found the videos helpful. In and out is a challenge. I have some arthritis in the knees and a bad back and I do start to feel it after a bit. Sometimes I think a van would be more ideal.
@@WhentheDustSettles Hey, Jason from NC here... talked a few times. Thanks for the video...!!! Good info! Out of curiosity...do you happen to know or guess approximately where the gas level "would" be maybe in this low profile setup? Thanks again ! God Bless...!

@@jasonherman4833 Hi Jason! Sorry, I’m not quite sure about the question…are you wondering about the propane level consumption? If so, there is a pretty clear delineation line of condensation on the tank as you use it that gives you a pretty good indication. Hope I answered that correctly. I have definitely considered a fold down ladder. I eventually gave up on the idea because I didn’t want to interfere with the double bed area. I did consider a fold out step that fits in the hitch. Amazon has one. Be blessed!

Ohhhhh wow great idea! I’ve never seen anyone before on UA-cam heating their camping space with one of the Mr Buddy Portable Buddy heater or Portable Buddy. All I’ve seen is the Mr Heater Portable Buddy. All beeeeeeeeee! I’m just messing with you. I found it funny that you said the name about 3 different ways and none of them were correct. I like to use the hose and power mine off the 20lb tank do you don’t run out and have to change it in the middle of the night. I run mine all through the night on low. Keeps it decent in my tent.
@@WhentheDustSettlesI use the adaptor to the 20lb tank with the buddy in my shop during winter. A game changer. That said, going to try the 1 lb fill for the grand girls sporting events. Thx
I have this heater in my shopping cart, I'm just starting to set up my 07 Ram for camping but I'm also unsure. If you are alone there is room for this heater, with my son I need a wider bed and the space is very tight, especially since I am afraid that a sleeping bag or blanket will get dirty when I sleep. How do you see that? and how long can you heat with this filling? great video, greetings from Austria
A long time ago Ihad an old fashioned electric heater which had a grill. My blankets fell off my bed. I almost burned to death. Woke up with my bed on fire because my blanket had fallen on the heater’s grill.
I’m building my own truck camper and looking for a heater to use during camping in the winter. How long you can used a one pound of propane continuously in that Mr. Buddy? Nice video it’s educational too.
Great video/product review. Question: is that an aftermarket vent in the cap roof? I have a Snugtop cap and I would like to know more about the vent/fan. Thank you!
You might want to check and see what kind of detector you have because apparently those are meant for homes and aren’t sensitive enough to pick up small amounts
Could you turn off the heater and time how long it takes for the temperature to drop five degrees? Switch the heater to pilot light and leave it on the pilot light setting. Does the temperature remain the same? Does it decrease the amount of time for the temperature to drop five degrees?
If you wish to have the Mr Buddy heater last more than one season add the optional filter. Ask me how i know. Seems the water in the propane messes with the heater surface.
Always good to recycle, however reuse of the little bottle is very minor: don’t breed more kids, huge huge huge footprint , plus they will not have to suffer and die in the horrific looming future . . Don’t eat beef , huge foot print .
Have watched and enjoyed many of your videos. As an Engineer with experience with propane and natural gas codes in Canada I would recommend a CO sensor and alarm. Buddy heaters are well made, but it is a direct fired device that in Buildings require CO sensors. Many people perish from propane heaters not working in rvs.
Thanks Keith! I absolutely agree. At 4:43 in the video I show which detector I use…definitely wouldn’t run it in there without having it and also opening a window with the fan on low reversed drawing fresh air in and the inside air out.
Yeah, I have seen this. Definitely would be handy. I just don’t have room in the cap for the 20lb tank and don’t want to leave a window open for the hose to go outside.
You also need to use the filter or bits or rubber end up plugging the regulator, if I had fully read the instructions before using the hose I would have save the cost of the new regulator. I now just refill 1 pounders
@@WhentheDustSettlesI will be strapping my 20lb tank in inside a milk crate and placing it in a rear mount hitch carrier and running my hose from there

Thanks for the video! You can buy a hose adapter for around $15 that hooks the buddy to the 20LB tank, so no 1LB refills.

Why not use the 20 lbs tank as to avoid the refill process ??
By filling them you’re leaving a smaller waste footprint. If we all did just a tiny bit, the world will be a better place. Cheers.

The only problem with the Buddy is the moisture. All smooth surfaces become super wet😂

1lb. Cannister can be refilled but are only designed for single use. There are safety issues. Especially when inverting a random 20lb with junk in it.

If you buy the 10m hose then you won’t need an adapter as it has no oil in it like the others.
