  • Shower heads are now sold with water flow restrictor valve installed. If your shower head does not have a removable flow restrictor valve, then see my other video that shows how to drill the plastic restrictor valve out • Increase Shower Water ... .You can remove the flow restrictor valve to increase your shower water pressure very easily, right now. This video will show you how to remove the shower water flow pressure restrictor valve. Removal is very easy. Once you remove the restrictor valve from your shower you will enjoy much better water pressure. There are a few other tips in this video that will show you how to increase the performance of your shower head and get better pressure of water flow.
    Don't use thread sealant tape between the connection of the hand held shower and hose. The rubber/nitrile washer is all that is needed. Most hand held shower units are made of plastic nowadays. You can split the plastic nut if you put extra material between the threads. (I just had one split the other day from normal use). The rule in plumbing is if there is a washer then don't use sealant. Typically the threads with washers are standard straight threads unlike tapered pipe threads. You can use sealant on tapered pipe threads. The 1/2" pipe thread coming out of the wall for the shower head is tapered pipe threads so that is where you can use the PTFE thread tape.

      That would certainly be hard to see (tell) from his simply showing spray on video.

    I'll never understand the "save us from ourselves" pundits who seem to think that having to take a 15 minute shower with almost no pressure is better than a 5 minute shower with twice the pressure. The "trickle" shower actually uses MORE water than a full-pressure one. Save us from do-gooders who enact laws to cure non-existent problems & without actually researching to see if it needs fixing...or whether the "fix" is worse than the problem. Anyway, thanks for the video!! I just took apart my shower wand set and eventually found the restrictor, hidden inside the wand hanger section. Despite all my water pressure, the tiny little restrictor hole (less than 1/8" diameter) was forcing a lot of water out the faucet, rather than out the shower head. Not anymore!!

      Exactly,
      I spent more time looking for soap to rinse off than actual bathing. This water restricter removal information should be in the installation instructions, but I'm sure the manufacturers aren't allowed to inform the public even if they wanted to.

      After following the instructions in this video for the shower head, I too went around the house and removed the rest. Man, what a difference. No more waiting forever for the hot water to get hot (or the cold to get cold) and rinsing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher now just takes a few seconds, instead of standing there forever. And as the OP pointed out, filling the kettle is now done in a flash!

    I restrict my water pressure at the line coming into my house so I do conserve water, thereby conserving my money. This video will help allow me to take a shower without having to run around in circles to get wet. Now if you have a video on how to bypass low flow toilets I will be able to conserve more water by not having to flush multiple times to get ride of those pesky "floaters". ;)

    • @FROSTYLIFE
      @FROSTYLIFE  5 років тому +3

      They make some toilets that have a more forceful flush without using too much water. It is all about the design and unfortunately there is no way to open up the rate of flush. You could perhaps adjust how full the tank gets so that there is more water available. That is a pretty easy adjustment to make in the back of the toilet tank.

    The whole idea of putting these water flow restrictors in is dumb. A person of average intelligence knows that if you restrict water flow it just will take longer to wash all the soap off and just wastes valuable time. Higher flow means you use the same amount of water and you can have a quicker shower saving time. My advice as an engineer is to take the water flow restrictor out and have a quicker and more pleasant strong massage shower and thus have more fun and also save time so the next person in the family can take their shower. This will have a huge effect in the morning when all the family or flatmates are queueing up to take a shower before rushing off to school and work.

    I loved your video especially since I have a new bathroom. When the plumber finished up we put on the shower. I might be an OF, but I have thick hair.....t]he darn thing trickled. He took the head off and said look, the gasket has such a small hole. I said I had another shower head, it had a larger holed gasket, installed it, and now my shower will almost get my beard wet to the skin..,..almost. This was a great video to come across. I am just lucky that I hadn't dismantled my shower in our outbuilding bathhouse that has an ECCOTEMP propane on demand hot water heater...PS: $125 to the house and has worked great for 7 years, but we finally have "inside" plumbing which has been not up to par, maybe it will NOW thanks to you. Now that I've lauded you, it is time to smack you down just a bit. I do not consider what you called needle nose pliers to be needle nose pliers, more like big clumsy vice grips....doesn't matter that much. The thing though, is those of us with outboards sometimes don't really listen to those with inboards. Your wife showed you how to clean the shower head with vinegar and water and to agitate the shower head by moving around the shower head parts. You then went in and typical outboard fashion, didn't do as she had shown, you said agitate the solution, but you didn't say to move the shower head parts around......yep, those in the outboard section sometimes don't listen well to the inboards.....I'm guilty also at times. Thanks for the video and hoping to have a full bore INDOOR shower later today......and THANKS TONS, next time I see the plumber I will have to tell him about this video.....who knows, maybe by law a licensed plumber can't legally tell a client these things----peace and good day all

    Ya, I’m good with most of my shower being conserved. However, when I’m rinsing my thick ass hair from hair dye; having to stand there for a half hour doesn’t save ANY water. Mine is set way too low. Pretty soon they will just have them at a damn trickle. C’mon! I recycle, I pick up my dogs 💩 BUT I WANT A HOT SHOWER WITH STRONG 🚿 💪🏼 is THAT too MUCH to dream about??? (Resting bitch face)just to add to give you an idea of my expression because this really peeves me to no end. Pay 1800 dollars a month for rent. I want my dam hot and plenty high flow to rinse off. Oh and next is my kitchen sink. I’m going full rebel. I’m going to live dangerously and do it!

    • @davidsvir9756

      Typically Teflon tape is wrapped at least three times in a clockwise direction. Meaning the same direction you’d be threading on the attachment so it doesn’t unthread your Teflon tape.

    • @FROSTYLIFE
      @FROSTYLIFE  6 років тому +2

      If the water pressure to your house becomes low then call the water company or city to come out and test the water pressure. There is something very wrong if that happens. Perhaps a water leak.

    • @abbye8482
      @abbye8482 6 років тому

    • @xyphur

      If it's limited to one room, or especially one outlet (shower), it's probably sediment in the pipes that has collected at some restriction along the way (sediment filter in shower head, or perhaps in the mixing valve) and is heavily restricting the flow of water like a dam. If you take the shower head off the pipe and turn the water on, a lot should flow freely. This would indicate a restriction in the head. If it doesn't flow freely, the problem exists upstream of that pipe. Have the mixing valve checked next, and continue upstream from there. Hope this helps.
