And out of nowhere you produce yet another good reason I canceled my cable! Super cool instructional on how you deliver your brilliance to your clients and I love how you transitioned into this with the same airframe as your recent build! I would go into panic mode if I had to put a model in the “mail”, but then again no one would buy my garbage so I don’t have to worry about that! If I ever do, I’m going with your method! Really enjoyed this! Looking forward to the next “slurp!l
Can confirm this method also works against contracted moving companies the military uses. And they always go with the cheapest and lowest customer satisfaction rates companies
Interesting video. Thorough method. I've shipped 100s of models over the years. I find a sturdy box and fill it halfway with packing beads/peanuts. I place the model on top of the beads and give it a shake so it settles. Then, I top it up with more beads. Out of the 100s I've shipped, I've only had 2 or 3 arrive damaged. The damage has only been slight (I.E. Broken landing gear or antenna). I started attaching these bits in a small resealable bag and taping it to the inside of the box. Anyway, not saying my way is better or worse; just sharing. ☺️ Love your vids! Thanks!
I find this very informative. Also the other comment on packing peanuts method. Sturdy is needed for repeated impacts. Some brutal impacts maybe from bigger boxes & handling by workers who see yours as just another box. Yeah it ain't pretty but, looks effective. I was cringing while you were throwing that around.
Thanks for showing this . When you spend alot to have a high caliber model shipped its good to see behind the scenes considering this stage can be the most stressful for the buyer and seller . Have you ever done a test like take a box with a far less valuable model inside and toss it out the back of a truck simulating real world conditions . Not all couriers and delivery personnel have the same attitude , having talked to a delivery guy working for Fedex and i quote . " Fragile just means we throw the package harder " end quote .. UPS is still the best in my experience so far ..
@@seanerk5kt9 Yes sir i think that would make a great video with plenty views no douibt . Will be the first video that i have ever seen on this topic , most companies wouldnt dare it and most of all film it . But you might ..
Hi Shaun. Great video, glad I found it. Have you shipped any models that are mounted in-flight? Also, is vibration from a good jolt to the box a concern? Thanks for answering my questions.
Most of my planes are in flight but I never permanently mount them. They’re always attached to the base with an acrylic rod and can be removed for shipping. Vibration is a concern so I rarely use CA glue (which is brittle and breaks easily when jolted). I stick with using plastic cement or 5 min epoxy. Hope that helps.
Nice work on your models and shipping method. Have you ever considered adding LED lighting internal to your models. At one time I considered a project to add LED lights to a exhaust plume on a fired missile, but I never did start or complete that experiment. The Space Shuttle model was superior, BTW.
Thank you. I’ve played around with LEDs a bit on some sci-fi kits. I also lit a resin Nautilus for a customer but it was a rather rudimentary setup, I show how I wired it on that video series. Clonefox80 is a friend of mine and he does some top quality lighting on his jets.
UA-cam is my only social media. I started selling on ebay and built a customer base from there. I get a lot of build requests from UA-cam as well. I’m pretty fortunate in that I actually get more build requests than I can take.
I’ve been double boxing them lately with loose filler in between the outer and inner box and I haven’t had any of those issues. Just recently had a model shipped to Saudi Arabia double boxed with the above method and it arrived unscathed.
The P-40 arrived in perfect shape with no damage...despite you throwing it around the house! Thanks buddy!

Man, I wish you had made this video before I packed my planes for moving!! 😂 Awesome tips!! Thank you!
Thanks Shaun, I've always wondered about how to move the models and stuff around. Cheers mukka

Lol...that’s a first
Great video sir! How would you tackle something really large? Like a model that is 3 feet long?
Get a good run at it

We miss your videos
Awwwwe schucks fellas! I’ve got one in the works and should be out in a couple of days
Sorry to ask but what is your job? I'm just curious
Congrats for the videos! I love it
Don’t have one :)
Primedmodelworks That's what I was suspecting... you are really a happy man! Congrats again!
Thanks buddy. I spent 18 years in law enforcement and now I’m a stay at home modeling dad.
Primedmodelworks I heard you left law enforcement because of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” is that true?
Jody Pombrio...I’ll never tell (wink wink 😉)
Where do you find customers that pay for models? Fiverr, social media or something else?
UA-cam is my only social media. I started selling on ebay and built a customer base from there. I get a lot of build requests from UA-cam as well. I’m pretty fortunate in that I actually get more build requests than I can take.
@@seanerk5kt9 thanks for the reply👍
Primedmodelworks he had me at his first “Hey fellas”
The issue I have is trying to hold up the top of the box so it doesn’t get squashed down by a rough handed postal worker

@@seanerk5kt9 thank you so much. I was really upset about it as it was one of my favourite models too 🙄
