    I have some of the Tamiya Acryls, but my go-to is usually Testors Acryls and I also use the pipettes for transferring and mixing paints in my airbrush. But the Testors I can wash out of my pipettes pretty easily in hot running water in the bathroom sink, as long as I do it while the paint is still soft. Then I store my cleaned pipettes standing up in a glass jar with some paper towel in the bottom to dry. I haven't done a lot of plastic modeling in many years, but I'm about to get started again and relearn some techniques and learn a few new ones. Thanks for the videos.

    +1 on Tamiya paints. Been using Tamiya for decades. Lately I use Gunze Mr. Color for WWII Luftwaffe models. Gunze has all of the RLM colors ready to go without mixing. They handle just like Tamiya.

      I’ve heard a lot of people that like them. I have their gloss black (gx2) and it’s really good.

    I mentioned in another video that I was just getting back into things. Using Tamiya Acrylics is what I'm going with and will only use lacquers if I have to (such as Mr. Surfacer 1500). I did start using Mr. Leveling thinner but then came upon a great Acrylic thinner recipe by Genesis UK, I've used it once and it levels and flows even better than MLT. So I now use MLT with Mr. Surfacer and other lacquers only. Recipe = 60ml container, 38ml distilled water, 20ml 91% IPA, 1 ml W&N Flow improver, 1ml W&N Fluid Retarder

    Another great video topic for reflection at year's end. I really enjoyed hearing your opinions on the various modeling products. I recently found your channel and I have been watching many of your former builds. Thanks for sharing your hobby with us model lovers.

    I want to thank you for a great year of viewing pleasure, your videos are so informative and personally I’ve adopted many of your ideas and processes, all the best to you and your family for the new year, it’s pretty crap down here in Australia at the moment with huge fires through three states hopefully the new year brings some hope for those involved so I’m looking forward to your vids for a bit of good news, cheers Mick.

      Thanks for the kind words Mick. I can’t imagine what it’d be like to have a fire raging toward my home...just devastating. I hope they’re able to put an end to it soon and I wish you and yours a happy new year as well.

    Great stuff Sean, loved it. I think for the last two years since I came across Mr levelling thinner that has been my favourite game changer. I to use Tamiya and using that with Mr levelling thinner they spray so nice plus my room smells of coconut!!!!!! Ha ha ha For detail and brush work I've always used Vallejo Color or Panzer Aces and the odd life colour. I hope you have a brill new year to you and your family. Stay safe buddy

    Fantastic Video for us semi Noobs returning to the hobby. What Cricut machine do you use. I am looking at adding one of them to my kit as I prefer painted on effects instead of decals. Thank you so much.

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  4 роки тому

      Hey Matt, some would consider me a semi-noob as well ;). I have the Explore Air 2. I like it as it’s simple to use but it has some limitations. Having a good photoshop type program is a must as their “design space” is probably its weakest point. Also really small lettering like tail numbers are really hard to do. I’ve got an IPad Pro and use the Procreate app to make images and stuff, which I can transfer directly to the Cricuts design space app on the iPad. I’ve heard the Silhouette has a much better computer interface but is harder to use.

    Ok so I feel really really dumb, but what do you use to attach pieces to your long toothpicks to paint them. I know it's like a clay thing but I cant figure out the name or find it anywhere.

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  4 роки тому +1

      No need to feel dumb brotha. I hate it when I can’t think of what something is called. It’s commonly referred to as blue tack or poster putty. Walmart has it with the glues I think, if not it’s with the school supplies. I know my CVS and Walgreens has it as well. Here’s an Amazon link to what I typically use.

    Thank you so much for this video. So many Model Artists jealously guard their techniques and methods . . . Question: Do you use the Mr Color Leveling Thinner with the Tamiya Acrylic paints?

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  4 роки тому

      I’m glad that others are finding my techniques and methods helpful. As far as Tamiya acrylics, yes I almost always use Mr Color leveling thinner with it. In my opinion, it’s easier to achieve a smoother finish when thinned with Mr Color leveling thinner. For a general coat, I start off at a 60% thinner to 40% paint mix. For a really smooth finish, I’ll then increase the amount of thinner and spray wet coats. Because the leveling thinner makes the paint dry slower, it allows it to flatten out and dry smoother than it would with regular tamiya thinner.
