Very cool on the parameters - I thinking instead of putting the quadrants as values (1, 2 etc), you could have put them as the hex colors themselves. Then instead of putting the 4 rules in the conditional formatting, you can just put it as the value of the measure.
I know have done that on some conditional formatting before on table backgrounds, not sure it will work with scatter plot (feel it should).

I have a situation like this, for calculating MoM and WoW, I need to consider same period in the previous year. Let's say if I want to return MoM for August 2021, then calculation would be like (Aug_2021 sales - Aug_2020 sales)/Aug_2020 sales * 100. Like this it should be dynamic for MoM and WoW and in the view I need to display like Last 12 months for MoM % growth, and Last 13 months for WoW % growth. I achieved the calculation but not able to restrict last 12 months/13 weeks. Any help on this would be helpful.
Note: we are not supposed to use calendar table as per our requirement. So considering sales_date from data itself and I achieved WoW and MoM based on month_number and Week_Number. And based on maximum sales_date, we need to display last 12 months or Last 13 weeks.

Amazing work Bas and team! Making my work so much more productive!😃
Quick question for anyone: Is there a way to calculate dynamically the 'sales' or other measures for each quadrant? Could be Very helpful in this type of analysis to place a card with this info next to the main graph.
Given that the conditions return True/False its complicated building the DAX code. I would appreciate your help a lot!

    Hi Bas,
Great Video! I recently implemented the conditional formatting to our customer profitability analysis. One question I had during the process:
Do you know if its by now possible to change the background color based on the conditions? So having a highlighted background for the top right quadrant for example.
I saw this apporach on some blogs who disucss and explain the use of a scatterplot for a customer profitability analysis and im curious if this is already achievable in PowerBI.
    Thanks for you videos!
    BR Frederik

Thank you. 👍, when to use conditional formatting based on rules versus field value?

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  2 роки тому

you could also define the color in the measure itself (instead of 1,2,3,4 - "blue","green","red","blue") .. Then you would use field value - I would do it like that when I apply the same conditional formatting rule to other visuals, because then when you want to change the colors or rule you do it in the measure it updates nicely everywhere.

Hey Bas, see if you could help me with a scatter chart:
    My client want...
    In X:dates
In the dots: the number of all results he get in any days with lab analyses.
There are an average of 12 analyses made in a day and I need to show all the 12 dots in each date.
I think a Line Chart jus with markers solves it, but I'm screwed!
Sorry for my poor english 'cuz i'm brazillian.

You can set the axis min max using a measure, so could set limits that way - just be done it the opposite way by increasing the axis to 110% of max value to create more space. Or group the values and filter out what you don’t want on the visual
