Thank you so much! I am a smoker. And I just want the right advice. It's been hard for me because I have major anxiety. Stopping smoking has given me thoughts of suicide. It's not easy so thank you so much for giving me the right advice. Instead of saying just stopped smoking it's not easy. Thank you for giving me my options. And letting it be my choice without going crazy.
I'm in Australia..I visited a dentist here he made fun of me when I explained I had been listening to your videos..And he only wanted to give me four upper and dentures on bottom..I found another dentist who has just given me 6 on 6 an with ceramic zirconium plan iam so grateful to have found your videos of guidance I was a smoker until march this yr but iam also a grinder and will speak to my dentist about a guard..thank you
Dr. Choi, I have implants from years ago and the dentist is no longer in the state I lived in at the time. Its been over 15 years ago. The implants look great on the xrays and I wanted to switch over to the all on 6 but the surgeon is not knowing what screws to order for the implants. The implants are Tatum brand. What should I do to further investigate so that I can have the procedure. There are 8 installed to support a upper ceramic bridge but I am wanting a new zirconia bridge for top and bottom. Any suggestions?
thats a good question. i never heard of tatum. you need to go find a dentist who is willing to find out which abutment screw size tatum uses. they can order all the necessary materials to take a mold of your implant positioning to make you a new bridge.
Implants are a way of making enormous amounts for the millionaire dentists. ..who live in grand houses..every dentist pushes you to have implants..and they should give you other options..as they are so expensive..
Dentures are something everyone who loses their teeth knows about. Implants are expensive as you just said. I am getting dentures. When you get implants you need to be aware. There can be complications including implant failure and infection.
I had advanced tooth decay. Cavities became infected because I couldn’t afford the root canal. Leading to infection that spread to bone. Along with untreated gum disease. Putting implants in me with my dental history. Would be disaster. I got rid of those uncooperative teeth. Causing infection and putting my life at risk. I wasn’t about to allow new things that could cause infection. My dentures fit and look nice. I can eat and smile. No more infection problem solved.
I really enjoy this channel very informative. So my son was born without one of his front tooth….how many times have you seen a case like his? (Born with only one front tooth)
not often but definitely happens. he can wear a flipper or a maryland bridge depending on how young he is. dont consider an implant till at leats 18 years old
@northtexasdentalsurgery I am not a smoker or drinker, and Not diabetic, and I brush my teeth 3xday I had 6 implants 20 years ago. 2 fell out after 3 days and 2 caused severe lower jaw bone necrosis, so I needed another option and so 7 cm of bone and 5 healthy teeth were removed. And the remaining 2 are still in. But after such a bad experience I didn't want anything more.
I have been watching all your videos and I subscribed to your channel. I can tell you guys are very dedicated to your practice. I can also see you are very wise and skilled. I have been watching so many channels and you are the most professional. I am a teacher from Arizona. I have an implant from 15 years ago. I think it was placed too close to my nasal cavity. My nose hurts all the time and I am having pus in the gums around it. It took three surgeries for the implant to take, which I don’t understand. I was so young I had to get it because of a root canal that had a file in it. I was wondering if you could help me. I have seen six dentist/periodontist and getting totally different opinions. Some say the implant is fine… some say it needs to go. It started showing silver through the gums 10 years ago and my dentist was not worried. I have a full x ray I could show you. I would come all the way to Texas if you could help me. I have lost 40 pounds in the last year and most of all I teach special Ed and I am sad I cannot smile anymore bc it hurts my nose. There is bone loss too. I can only eat soft food and fluids. I have spent sooo much money with no answers and on a single teachers salary. Thank you for all the amazing information you share. dcrider@balsz.org. Also a periodontist offered periodontal trays and said they would help…. Have you done a video on periodontal trays?
Wow, sorry to hear that. I really like this man and he seems ethical. I have periodontist who is trying to save my teeth but I have severe bone loss, course paying this for treatment, not to mention pain and misery. After hearing the information from this practice, I am thinking of getting all on 4s and be done with it. I’ve had periodontitis since 19 years old. I get so confused and overwhelmed with trying to make the best decisions. I pray you and I both find a resolution. Thank you for sharing.
I just had a broken implant. Not a smoker, proper maintenance, did cleanings 4 times a year. It cracked in half. and I am told that they do not see where i can add one. Also, it appears like the abutment cannot or is nearly impossible to remove. Is there anything i can do at this point.
If dental insurance were covered under our health insurance. This would help with the cost of treatment. We need teeth to be healthy. If it didn't cost $300,000 to become dentist that might help too. The dentist at the clinic. That treated me and other poor people. Was very caring and nice. You see the infection already spread to bone in my jaw. Pieces were removed along with the teeth. The only reason I can type this. Is because the tooth was pulled and infection was drained. Ten days of antibiotics the next thing. That infection was going to take was my life. So maybe you should think about all these things. Before you claim all dentists care about is money. Not patients obviously I am living proof that you are wrong.
Is your dental implant is imbecile and also gone to the bone what can you do options wise? I just had mine done 3 months back from onset indecent and antibiotics now before any screw can be put on swelling of face and severe weakness and offered from inside of screw downwards to bone. Taken 3 round antibiotics already, please advise options is it worth saving or removing? Thanks
Mine are loose well one is and the one next to it is connected. my dentist is on vacation but the covering dentist said the bone may have caused it to become loose but hey! I just had them put in a few months ago. I am about to get a second two done-jus waiting for the crown. I hope he does not charge me. I paid up front for four implants and the cost was $13,000
Hi Dr. Choy, have you done a video on Mandibular Tori? I had 3 of 4 sides removed and it's quite an adventure. I was "under" for the larger ones on the "inside" , and local for the outer edge. I need to get the right outer edge removed soon.
What about teeth that are "tight" and the dental floss yanks at the base? Can the yanking motion cause the implant to disengage from the bone? I know pulling the floss out sideways is a solution, but some people can't do that without shredding the floss.
I have tight spacing between my teeth and I find most floss snags, shreds etc. I have found Oral B pro expert premium floss to be by far the best - it has a flat profile, so it is easy to get in and out of tight teeth without using force
I need implants but don’t want titanium. I’ve request zarconia implants instead for 14, 15, and 18. So far, I found out that I’m allergic to nickel and cobalt. I’ve had abscesses with metal crowns in the past. What is your opinion on zarconia implants for a grinder? I also have a gag reflex and sleep apnea due to having a large tongue and a small mouth. I’m afraid I’ll throw up in my sleep due to a night guard. Have you had patients with similar scenarios? Is there a partial night hard that can just protect one side of the mouth.?
if you are a crazy grinder there would be a risk of implant fracture. not saying it would happen but a possibility. i have never seen a partial night guard for one side of the mouth. it probably wouldnt be a good idea and may throw off your bite.
I had two implants placed after failed root canals and one failed Apico. I had no idea that it was important to place the bone graft and wait for it to heal first. So my periodontist put both the bone graft and the implant all in the same visit. I was in severe pain after and now have a strange feeling in the place of the implant, redness, pain and some pus coming out from the healing cap. Ot has been a while since the implant was done and I went back to the surgeon a couple of months ago and his assistant said “it was a head scratcher” as to why I continue to be in pain. She said to go ahead and place the crown on the implant. What do you recommend that I do now?
Thank you Dr. Choi, is it true with peri-implantitis LAPIP can not be done after oral surgery with bone graft but it’s ok to do LAPIP after oral surgery with oral graft?
How can you help increase dental bone density/strength? Thank you. I am wearing an upper bridge and am going to a periodontist soon for an implant consult. Of course money is an issue, but that's beside the point. 🤔
HELLO Dr What am I supposed to do know i had All on 4 done They had cut so much of my Gum tissue off I was not aware of it until the Surgery was over Tell me pls what am I going to do if I lose my implants I can not even get dentures
My gum disease and bone loss was bad. I have been given the okay by the dentist. For impressions for removable dentures. I would say more likely then not you should be able to get them. If you need them.
Not looking for a pat on the back. I quite smoking cold turkey after 30 plus years of smoking just to pour $40,000 into my mouth. So I can eat steak again.
Thanks very much, I think it's a bit strange that my doctor says I only need to come back once a year for cleaning.... This is for a full mouth of zirconia implants, doesn't it seem like I should be seen twice a year?
Hi Dr my mother is wanting to get implants and she has been advised for the upper jaw only zygoma implants will work due to excessive bone loss she is 70 years old. It is very expensive and she is really worried that if she goes ahead since she is a diabetic also what will happen a few years down the line. Also i have read that zygoma implant procedure is quite complex and could end up causing pretty bad sinusitus.
honestly, history of diabetes, zygomatic implants. its a lot of risk. there'sa lot of successful cases but to not have any issue at all for the rest of her life is riskier than non zygoma cases
@@northtexasdentalsurgery what are the eventualities of continuing to eat without teeth e.g soft foods etc and not having implants. Because she has diabtets arthritus int he knees certain nerve pain issues i am very stressed about this situation and it is causing both my mother and i many sleepless nights. I dont want us to spend all that money for her then to have further health issues to add to the existing ones.

Sometimes the pain isn’t worth all the infections and discomfort.
