this channel is criminally underrated
Haha, thanks very much 😁
Seeing stuff like this always reminds me why I avoid using live action elements in my work.
Hahaha 🤣 I like the challenge! It's fun integrating the 2 together :)
I'm an aspiring VFX artist and your videos showing just how much you can get out of Blender is super inspiring!
Thank you so much! That's lovely to hear 😊
Thanks for this nice tutorial. The Creator was easily my favourite movie of 2023. I absolutely loved the look and overall theme!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes it was a great film
You do absolutely excellent videos. Not just the great VFX, but your explanation tutorials are so informative. Keep it up. COngratulations on a great channel.
Thanks very much! That's really kind :)
It's great to see a VFX workflow with TourBox, appreciate your effort for the detailed content!
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
I've been out of VFX for a couple of years due to illness but this video has really inspired me to reinstall Nuke Studio and get back up to speed with my passion:)
Glad to hear it! Hope your health returns 🤞
So much work and thought has gone into the making of this vid. Thx 4 sharing ur technique and what could be achieved w Blender 4 any aspiring VFX artist! Bravo!
Thanks very much! That's lovely to hear 😁
Your nuke tutorials are really good. especially your basic compositing once, I used to do my 3D compositing After Effects but I recently switched to a Nuke your channel has been a support system in my Nuke journey. I used to find nuke very intimidating thanks to you, you made it easier
That's great to hear! I'm glad my videos have been helpful. The learning curve is quite steep when you make the switch but it starts getting easier after a while :)
Awesome work as always! One of the few channels that actually make Nuke and Blender accessible for complete noobs like myself
Haha, thank you!
I'm starting as a Junior compositor and having that TourBox would be very useful :)
Good luck 😁
This looks great Alfie, you always make it seems so easy.
Thanks for the breakdown!
Thanks a lot dude! That's very kind of you :)
As always, very useful and great to watch : well done Alfie !
Thank you! :)
Amazing video! I like your workflow and as a VFX student the TourBox would be awesome!
Thanks a lot 🙏
Great tutorial! I really loved the VFX from The Creator so very cool to see a video from you about it. Keep it up!
Thanks very much 🙏
Super impressive, Alfie! Great work and thanks for the detailed breakdown.
Thanks a lot Jacob! 🙏
Awesome. Recently started getting back into Blender and Nuke. Really enjoying the channel!
Thanks very much :)
It's always worth to invest time in watching your content! super informative and interesting
That's lovely to hear! Thank you 🙏
I loved this one! Felt like you got straight into it and kept dropping hammers of info
Thanks a lot! I'm making a bit of a shift in how I structure and present my videos so hopefully this is a bit more engaging!
Nicely done, Alfie , the creator is one of the most visually stunning vfx films
Thanks a lot 👍
Amazing! Thank you for showing the workflow :)
Your videos 10/10!
Thanks a lot 👍
Really great to see the compositing!
Thanks a lot!
Since the movie is announced I'm excited to see who will do the vfx like this creator movie and i feel like you are the first one who did this really enjoyed this one!
Thanks a lot! :)
Been waiting for a full workflow breakdown for this effect. Looks great!
Thanks a lot! :)
Love this tutorial, very good at explaining how you did it
Thank you! 👍
Really Nice vfx shots. I really like your workflow. Thank you for making this kind of video.
Glad you liked it :)
Really love object tracking breakdowns!
Thanks!
Loved the compositing walkthrough. The contact shadow was a neat trick- love when passes an be used creatively like that
Thanks! Yeah it's a good one to know. Super simple but works well!
im bummed i havent found your channel earlier. This tutorial is great for building skills and not copy-pasta a project that only proves you took the tutorial. Keep these coming!
Better late than never! Glad you liked it 👍
cool video, the bit about adding extra hair in the cg was interesting definitely gonna try that next time i do something like this.
Thanks dude! I saw they did it on some shots on the breakdown and it was really effective for blending the edges of the skin
Thanks for sharing every single trick from your proces :) !
Glad you liked it! :)
great tutorial specially the compositing! Thanks!
Thank you! 🙏
really amazing tutorial! love to see you sharing more tutorial like this! cheers!
Thank you!
Sweet vid, clear breakdown, great hair.
Hahahaha 🤣 love it!
Never seen that frequency seperation technique before. Gonna note that down for my uni projects
It's a good one to know! I did a video at the start of the year all about using it for tracking too 👍
Hell yeah. This'll come in handy with some shots I need to do soon for a short!
😎
So many great tips, learned a lot!!! Thank you!
Glad you liked it! 👍
I loved the look of the CGI on the movie and you did a great job recreating it! :D
Thank you so much!
Amazing job! Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you! 🙏
Awesome explanation and workflow! Lots of golden tips

Fantastic video. Need more vids like this
Thank you!!
Well done! Super nice work.
Thank you! :)
when i feel burned out i always watch ur vids. makes me want to do better in vfx
Haha thanks! That's lovely to hear :) Glad I can be a source of inspiration! Happens to us all 😅
Awesome work Alfie! Keep it up 🙌
Thank you!!
Happy to have found someone who is using Blender with a more "industry standard" workflow. I used your ACES videos a lot while setting up my pipeline between Blender and After Effects. Great stuff with this video, I might have to give this type of effect a shot when I actually have some free time lol
Thank you! It took me ages to figure it all out but once you have a good workflow it makes such a massive difference to the quality of content you can create. Worth the time spent!
Yeah the main CG pipeline is Houdini and Maya. I'm the only one the really uses Blender. Sometimes we use it for niche tasks. Like recently we used it to ingest some Google maps geometry from the Open Street Maps add-on for Blender
awesome as always!!!
Thank you!
Great workflow!
Thank you!
Love this! Would definitely buy a step by step course if you ever do one. Such a wealth of knowledge
Thanks a lot! And noted 👀
very cool breakdown 🔥
Thanks! 🙏
This so inspiring to watch thank you
Glad you enjoyed!
That looks really good! So cool! You are a very talented VFX artist! God bless!
Thanks very much 🙏
Fascinating breakdown of the single most shot imporant shot technique used throughout the film. i imagine the challenges of creating so many complex comp shots for this movie 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks a lot! 🙏
Awesome! I watched The Creator 2 days ago and I was amazed by the VFX as well
Thanks! Yes it's a great film. One of the best I've seen in a while. Especially after watching the breakdown and seeing they didn't shoot any clean plates 🤣🤣🤣
@@AlfieVaughan ILM always makes us surprised by their magics haha
Awesome work!! Keep it up 👍
Thank you :)
Thank you for the amazing tutorial
Glad you liked it! 🙏
Nicee effect Alfie 🔥
Thank you! 🙏
Amazing work as always Alfie. Loved the movie and great to see the breakdown from you. Still can't believe they havent used any markers on set.
Thank you! They did use a few but it was very minimal. You can see a few on their faces in some shots in the breakdown
@@AlfieVaughan thanks Alfie, I checked a few out already. Amazing stuff
Learned a lot from this.. thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the video! 👍
Im starting to learn VFX ,this is awesome information ,thanks
Thank you!
Really Cool Video!
Thanks a lot!
Super awesome!
Thank you! 🙏
Amazing work!
Also i could really use that box
Thank you! Maybe you'll win 🤞
Nice work this is insane !
Haha thanks a lot dude! 😎
As allways excelent!!!
Thank you!! :)
I loved this video.. Keep it up 🔥
Thanks! 🙏
great tutorial very helpful
Thanks!
Inspiring Workflow ! Congrats for the effect, its really selling :)
Thank you! 🙏
Very inspiring! I've been using Davinci Fusion for compositing lately, and as much as I like it, I like Nuke better and will probably switch back in the future!
Thank you! I use fusion a little bit. I made the Patreon graphics from this video in Fusion. But I much prefer nuke for big comps
really enjoy the nuke breakdowns videos...
Thanks! I enjoy making them :)
Gimme gimme gimme tourbox 😂 , like always Alfie brother you rock!!Cheers
Haha! 🤣 Thank you 🙏
Love it! The only part that didn’t hold up well was the neck flap which had the mask moving around a bit too much. Other than that, amazing job! I especially loved the bit about adding the beard hairs on top to make the seam more natural on the jawline. Great attention to detail there!
Thanks! Yeah I totally agree. I wish I'd done it as a 3d holdout so it looked better but I'd sort of run out of time to spend making this video and just needed to get it out 🤣
I really should start using more 3D projections inside Nuke 😪. Also, great touch on the slight shadow along the edge of the 3D that’s in contact with your face!
Thank you! It really helps :)
Ex-tremely Helpful
Thanks!
This was a good video. I was trying to do something similar a few months ago, i just couldn't get it right. Maybe I'll download your files and give this a shot
Thank you 🙏
amazing
Thanks! 🙏
thank you!!!!
Looks Great! Only one thing slightly stood out to me about the final shot, the long vertical part of the neck was a little inconsistent sometimes as you were going along the pores. It might be better to draw a line down along the neck for the part you're cutting out so its always deforming correctly. I'm nitpicking at this point though the final result was insane, way better than anything i could do, great work!
Thanks! Yes I thought about drawing a line too. I definitely would do something like that if I did it again. My initial plan was to make that part of the next with some 3D geo so it was perfectly accurate. But getting the deformation right as the head moves would have been quite tricky and I just wanted to finish the video by then 🤣
nice work
Thanks!
My friend, SUPER rad video! I keep telling myself I'm going to get further into Nuke soon, but "real" work keeps getting in the way. (And, they're having us work in Flame at work.) 😢🤣 Can't wait until the next video! ✌🤟🤘
Thanks very much! Yes, it's always a challenge finding the time 🤣
very useful the tool box
It's great!
Great tute.. been looking at trying something similar.. inspired by The Creator..
Thank you!
Once again very nice work! Need to go back on your discord and try hard again!
Learning Houdini and Nuke right now…😅
Cheers!
Thanks very much! Glad you liked it :)
Love it, would be honored to test the tourbox
Thanks a lot!
Amazing work bro! Let me ask you..Do you recommend for a small team of 3 members to use Blender + Nuke instead of using Maya and Nuke for an independent film series VFX? Do you have problems working with Blender and Nuke since Maya has more integration tools with Nuke?
Thanks! I wouldn't say Maya has more integration with nuke tools. There's no overlap other than custom tools studios have made themselves. You're probably better off using blender in a small team
@@AlfieVaughan Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have a small team and we don't have enough budget to buy blender and Maya, so I was looking for a solution for high-end VFX without breaking the bank account.. So I'll follow your experience and use Nuke + Blender
Nice tutorial! I'm now starting to learn Blender so this tutorial has great timing!
You make it look so easy, are you sure you didn't work on The Creator?
Thanks! Glad you liked it :) Haha no but I have a few friends who did
Why is he so unrated? 💀 He is damm cool artist 🌝 keep it up bro I'm your new follower 👍
Thanks very much!
good tutorial
Thanks!
Nice Channel for VFX.
Thank you!
Bro you're Good 😮
Haha, thank you! 😁
Amazing work! Are you using AgX? And how you set up your color space in Nuke for Blender's AgX? Thank you!
Thanks! No Im working in Aces as that's what I'm used to and how we do everything at work still. I like the look of AGX but it's not really got an established workflow when going to other software yet. Will be interesting to see how it progresses!
Wow, that's so cool! Do you know how many times I've watched the first minute?
Haha thanks very much!
This is looking amazing, would be a pleasure to one day work with you!!!
Imagine 😜
Any chance to see more of your videos using TourBox? I'm thinking about getting one but I'm hesitating. It would be great to see more demonstrations!
This is the original video I did when. I was sent it. I show it a bit here too. If you're thinking of getting one you can use my discount code AlfieVaughan to get some money off :)
