I’m probably your dads age and every time I watch one of your videos my heart warms a bit and sometimes a joy tear twinkles because you remind me of one of my daughters. Stay sweet. May you both have a long and loving life together.
From a nonfarmer, you guys are so awesome and wholesome to watch. I’m so happy I found your channel. Y’all are the best! Hope the holidays are awesome for y’all!
As has been said by others here, as a dad, it warms my heart to see you young folks working so well together. Gives me hope for my daughter's future. You two treasure each other as you should.
Hey Grant! Did you explain to Laura that if she goes around in a circle 13 times in a row, the same way around, that the house will unscrew off the deck and tip over? Better check the house revolution dial counter for her! -Bob...
Wow, this brings back good memories of running a backhoe for several years for my dad's excavating business. Also loved seeing Grant reminisce about using that old lawn tractor.
Hi, Laura and Grant. That little tractor is great. I love the story of you and your dad putting that together when you were young to plant with. Laura keep up the good work. Sincerely Ed from chicago.
Grant - Supercross starts in 9 days (Jan-8) cannot wait, dirt bike enthusiast myself and retired motocross racer. Good luck with the track, they are a lot of maintenance.
Grant you need to keep that lawnmower and corn planter. So you can put your children on it to plant sweet corn. Thanks to both of you for sharing another great video with us
I really enjoy watching all your videos. You and Grant are a couple great kids and you always explain what you are doing rather well. Keep up the great work.
Oh HI guys , Grant I noticed your right front tire is low. You could use a little counterweight in the front of seeding tractor , which would be great for planting a garden. Laura keep practicing with the excavator whenever you can . You were doing great with it. Go slow when running the backhoe. As you are digging you may have to lower the boom arm or pull the bucket towards you as you curl the bucket. Old operator in Chicago .Local 150 Operating Engineers Keep smiling . Watching you 2 makes think I should have found me a farm girl when I was younger. Oh well too late now.
Cycle the scraper fully prior to filling the bowl. It's just so much easier to fix when it's empty. Fully stroke the hydraulics to make sure the cylinders are in phase and apply full pressure on both sides. Stop and do your circle check for leaks and problems while greasing. And in case anyone was wondering what you do if you can't use the ejector because it's broken or you stuck a rock in the slides, you turn the machine upside down. Which is much harder than it sounds.
That little Sears tractor in neat. They sold great equipment. If you can not use it pass it on to another kid who can learn to love farming. It can still pop a wheelie!
Laura did a great job with the excavator she was having so much fun. Grant great job with the old planter tractor I had faith that you would get it running. Stay safe and warm
Great video---working together helps get the job done faster. Grant, unbelievable you got the Sears to start that easy. You made the old Chevy pickup look great. New tires will be sharp, but you need the hubcaps rechromed and logo repainted. Looks like the original seat could be repaired by a pro too. Can't wait to see it all done. You and Laura are lucky to have a neat old truck in such good condition!!
Yup, I have that phone too! Got it when it came out. Enjoy. God Bless your Marriage and hope y'all have the great time together. I really enjoy your channel.
I love that Grant is just like Cale, in that he loves to have fun! 😀That will mean a happy family forever ❤️ Laura, it’s amazing that we can throw any machine at you, and within a few minutes you have it all figured out! 🧐 🧠 Keep up the good wholesome content of your wonderful videos ❤️❤️❤️Love you, Grammy 🥰
I've thought the same for some time. I think her ability to choose a good man must be something that is passed from mother to daughter. We on UA-cam have seen evidence of it in at least three generation. You deserve to be mighty proud, Grammy.
@@douglasjackson1998 aww…thanks so much. All 3 of my children made excellent choices in marriage. I have a super son-in-law and two awesome daughters-in-law to love ❤️ And of course a great new “grandson” in Laura’s choice of Grant 🥰
I know there are so many people that make comments on your channel. But I am not a farmer but farming has been a part of my families heritage for some time. My mother was actually raised on a farm. Their "money crop" was tobacco. My Uncle Ervin inherited the land from my Granddad Currin until his death of cancer and a heart attack in 1973. Eventually my Cousin Claudia and her then husband JT inherited the land and they use it to raise horses today. I think JT rents out the land for some farming done by others. My Dad's sister Viola and her husband Melvin were dairy farmers in Orange County NC. They eventually sold that operation to their son my cousin but at some point in time he got out of the Dairy business. I watch a lot of homesteading channels and it blows my mind that there are so many different companies that make tractors. I would say in NC that John Deere has the market share in the Wake and Orange and Guildford County areas. I feel sure that other tractor companies have made their mark elsewhere in NC. I know today's farmer there are so many specialties in farming operations that many different companies make specific machines. Of the channel I watch I have seen tractors made by Mahindra, Kioti, Kubota, JD, and Farmall. I think Grants "Sears-Craftsman model of Tractor was branded as a Suburban model and was made by Roper.
You have an excellent channel, especially for a non farmer. Love seeing all the equipment you use. As for it being cold. it was -42C, -55C in Edson AB this morning. #rd coldest place on the planet this morning. Keep up the great work.
Back in the 1960's two road racing courses, VIRginia International Raceway and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course were basically carved out of farmland. According to lore, the two guys who started VIR used a bulldozer for the first cut, saying "That looks like a race track" when they were done. Paul Newman said it was heaven. I'll be at Mid-Ohio this weekend to watch Indy cars run. Have fun.
Great video Laura, operating an excavator takes some getting used to and lots of practice to get good, you did quite well for never using one before. When Grant had the issue with the scraper, I said "hoses in the wrong holes" lol. Hope Christmas was good to you, have a happy and joyous new year.
Laura no matter how fast you spin around it won't fly! My son is trying to get his daughter to operate his mini how and skid steer. Keep it up you'll get it. lol
Excavators can be abit tricky to get the hand of, yet they are a lot of fun to operate My favorite piece of equipment is a skid steer. For me they are almost too much fun to operate.
I like to watch their vlogs. Can i train my English well. At the beginning I had a lot of difficulties understanding everything. But now I can watch the vlogs without any problems. Warm greetings from Germany
I raced in Texas for 20 years during the late 70s thru the 90s in cross country which is totally different from a wide open field like you have. My style was thru creeks woods and very tall rocky hills banging my bark busters on trees that saved my hands quiet a few times and crushed my fingers more than I like to remember and bouncing off the other riders trying to beat them or they doing the same. I loved it.
Spent 15 years using a mini like that. In John Deere “pattern” the left joystick is the main “boom” control. Pull back = boom up. Push forward does opposite. Left joystick pushed left turns turret left and vise versus. . Right joystick pulled back pull “stick” towards the cab and pushed forward opens “stick” away from the cab. Move right joystick toward the left and bucket curls inward. Move right joystick to the right and bucket uncurls. You got this.
Video/audio quality is excellent with great detail. Color balance is OK on an overcast day too! Skin color is good. A few issues with close subject focus (Grant's and your face in the tractor cab) - appears to be a just a bit slow. Thanks for another episode.
When it is cold outside, slowly cycle the hydraulic cotrols for a few minutes before putting them to work. The oil gets thick and does not flow well when it is cold. you can potentially burn up a pump or blow lines if you dont let it warm up.
Two kids in a heavy-equipment candy shop! You two sure seem to have fun working together. By all means--keep the little tractor. Your kids need something to learn to farm on.
Greetings from Canada and Happy new year, you 2 are such a good team. I am a city boy , but watching your videos gives me a taste of what farm life is like. Having my own dirt bike track would be a dream come true for me too, glad to see you are being blessed for your hard work
Loving the videos! My grandfather didn't really have a farm but I grew up at his house throughout my childhood and learned a lot! He did have an old sears tractor like that, I got to drive it around with a trailer of firewood to stack on the deck. He also has some old Case and Oliver OC 4 tracked tractors that we use to move dirt around for the garden and pick up logs and put them on his saw mill! Keep up the great work with these videos because when I watch them even though its mostly newer stuff it brings me back to my childhood helping out my grandpa! I might have grown up in the suburbs but because of my grandparents I am a farmboy at heart, good old country music and all!!
Laura, Have you heard about the dirt olympics? You practice one technique to prove your abilities to control. Tape a wooden stick match to a tooth on the bucket. Then draw it back over the asphalt to light it… no breaking the match!
When you are using the blade on an excavator like that I would recommend keeping the bucket curled all the way in and I’ve run a lot of excavators between that size and the larger ones
LMAO - Laura, when I first saw mini-x I said, WOW, that looks like a glass outhouse on tiny tracks 🚽🧻 Then I saw you spinning it in circles - WOW, it's a glass outhouse on tiny tracks with a "spin cycle"...LMAO That was great watching you learn to operate it. Always enjoy your videos, thanks guys for the entertainment today!🍺🥨🍺
9:12 "why would you split it up between one and three...?" Same reason they split "Yes" and "No" up between 1 and 3 for the telephone keypad on automated telephone menu systems, e.g., when you call the pharmacy to renew a prescription. It helps avoid hitting the wrong button!

Not a bad job on the excavator considering that it was your first time! When Grant had a problem with the scraper I had a feeling that he wasn’t using the right setup for the hydraulic lines. Been there….😂
That's how equipment is supposed to work after sitting 15 years! NICE! Can tell when an owner takes care of stuff (drains the bowl and tank). Also helps if the fuel left behind was non-ethanol fuel. That's always a nice surprise. Sometimes they'll even run on that old stuff! I always wanted a track, but no way that was happening on our tiny chunk of property up here in MA. Wanted to race so bad, but that was way out of our league cost wise. I was lucky just to have the dirt bikes I had back then. Learned how to fix them out of necessity, and now that's what I do full time (on everything from cars & pickups to string trimmers). I did have access to acres of woods, plus power lines and railroad tracks, so we could ride just about anywhere, and we did for YEARS! Was so much fun! I used to put at least 400 off-road miles a week on my stuff back in the day. Started off with a Yamaha BW80, graduated to a CR125, then bought a brand new leftover '92 Yamaha WR200 in '93 - loved that bike! I used to hop on the road with it sometimes to get places quicker, since it had a headlight and tail light - cops would think I was a motorcycle and just keep on going, lol. That was back before everything got built upon, barricaded, and rendered illegal. Be thankful you guys live where you do! I would've rode until I couldn't get my leg over a machine, but the state took that joy away from me. Now I doubt I could get my leg over any off road machines it's been so long. I switched to ATV's in my 20's, and just sold my last ATV in 2019. Was a good run, anyway. My new hobby of flying paramotors has rekindled that spark I used to have, though. Can have endless adventures up there! Gorgeous views & amazing sunsets! Your own neighborhood is unrecognizable from that perspective! Great way to check out your property, too. ;) Enjoy it you two - time goes by QUICK! Hope you all had a great Christmas, and may you all have a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year!
I like Grant's hoodie with the old Ford blocks. That's just typical for a Ford. Chevy never die. They last forever. Good job on the mini backhoe. Someday you'll move up to the big one while Grant rides his lil tractor. Lol!
Where would someone find a small corn planter like that? Are you planning to sell that one? We do some small deer food plots here in northern MI and something like that could be a really cool.
Good job on upgrading phone you won’t regret it!😉 Half day in mini excavator you’ll be a pro, just like running a combined , practice makes perfect 👍😉😊
Talking about "Old Faithful". My Volvo EC55 excavator sprayed me with hydraulic oil when a hose blew. First I had to take a shower, and then get the hose removed, taken to the hydraulic place for them to build me a similar one and then back to be installed again. That took the best part of 3 hours and the rest of the day and evening was spent in the machine, digging on my property. That same evening, I realized that the lights on the maching was rubbish, so the same evening I ordered a full set of LED lights on ebay. Talking about night and day, but wow what a light!
Awww man...you shouldn't have left the hubby hanging like that lol too hot for UA-cam I know lollol but wow! That definitely is a mini excavator! Never seen such a small cab before! But it gets the job done! That would be perfect for me out at the beaver dams! Haha! And Grant! That mower with the two row planter is indeed the perfect wheelie machine lol just don't tear it up because its gotta run alot of hours to get yalls crops planted next season! Lollol

Grant, motocross whoops are typically 11-13 feet apart (peak to peak), depending upon height and how steep they are.
Lollol
