This is way better than having to constantyl deal with 90+ temps every day of the year and sweating nonstop. Nothing like the midwest. Remember, you can only take so many layers off when it's warm. But you can put on as many as you want in the winter.

The newscasters repeatedly say this is dangerously cold weather, but they do not recommend people to stay home from work to stay safe. Why is that? Why does the media side with employers abuse of their employees as they refuse to show any kindness to their employees knowing it is physically dangerous for them to be out in this weather? Why won’t the media side with Public Safety and encourage employers to let their employees stay home?

This type of weather will force people indoors and COVID-19 would spread easier because people are cuddled together because it’s too dangerously cold to go outside that will cause social gatherings to move indoors which we do not want in 2020 we want outdoor social gatherings because they’re a lot safer. So please make this a warm winter for people to go outside and keep that polar vortex in the north pole where it belongs.!

I think the cold is remarkable, but I also believe it is being over-hyped by the news agencies with an emphasis on the wind chill temps vs actual air temps. In the DC area the day time highs are in the 20's, which is not ridiculous for January in our region, but it is as if we are experiencing end of days. To me, this contributes to the lack of fortitude in people as society progresses. Go outside and experience the temps, get used to it, so it is not such an absolute shock to your system and for goodness sake, learn to drive in a couple of inches of snow without panicking! In a couple of days it will be in the mid 60's - you will survive! :-)
