    This is every winter in Canada. Our lives go on and no grocery store is ever out of supplies. Do a lot of baking and cooking, keeps the house warm and the air moist. Carry a charged phone when driving to work with warm outside clothes. Cover up outside and try to not take long night trips when it is so dangerous out.

      But it doesn't happen every year in Chicago, not even every ten years. In fact, it has never happened here, which is why it's news for us.
      You have the infrastructure to deal with massive snow and subzero temperatures. Your citizens have outerwear that can protect against that cold. It happens all the time, so you're prepared.
      In Chicago this sort of weather is rare - in fact, unprecedented. We do not have the infrastructure to easily handle the snow and cold. Our citizens have coats that are fine for our usual winters, but are inadequate for this weather.
      So sure, for you it's, "ho, hum, just another winter day.," For us, it's a big deal.

    BREAKING NEWS~~ It gets cold and snows in the winter in most of America.

    • @baruchben-david4196
      @baruchben-david4196 5 років тому

      True. But it doesn't get this cold, which is what the fuss is about. Most of us have coats for our typical winter. Few are prepared for cold that in some places is worse than ever recorded. This is what makes it so dangerous. The last time it got this cold was in 1983. Many people hadn't even been born then, much less had to survive such extreme weather. And now it's even colder than it was back then.

    Throughout the month of January New York has been threatened by blizzards and expect them to come by night, morning, and the next day. But I live in New York and we only got one centimeter of snow two times and they melt away. The forecast and radars showed snow on its way for New York but nothing happened which is making everyone concerned about why we only get rain while all our neighbors get huge blankets of snow.

      @baruchben-david4196 5 років тому +1

      Cold that hasn't been seen since 1983; and in some cases, has never been seen. That is the important part, the extreme weather. Most of us handle regular winters well enough. Bundle up, push on, maybe bitch a little about the weather.
      This is different. People simply aren't prepared for such extreme cold. Our coats are fine for seasonable cold, but this cold is not seasonable. We don't have the resources that people have, who see this sort of weather every winter.
      So, yes, it's a big deal, and some people have already died as a result.

    Beautiful twinkling icy whiteness .......without racism!
    The fundamental crystals of life.....
    Over 70% of the human is water, we are living water by a major percentage.
    In the groupthink rush to condemn inconvenience ....it would be short sighted to ignore the profound beauty and essentiality of snow, ice, water and winter.......
    we hate it .......but it has it's own beauty.......same as excess heat.......

    If I may, let's go basic - the Equator is heating up, A LOT. Hot always travels to cold (ice cubes melt in a drink, they do not freeze the liquid). Hot equator air moves to the COLDEST MASS, the northern polar region. That cold (the Polar Mass) is PUSHED downward into the USA, because there is too much heat, moving too fast, to lower the polar temps. But enough HEAT ENERGY to PUSH THE COLD out of the way (Polar Vortex).
    That's it - HOT always SEEKS COLD - THAT'S "our" Global Warming...
