Epic trip and video!! It's so awesome watching my favorite UA-cam canoe trippers tripping together, it's like getting to watch all my favorite guitarists jam together on stage for a song. Hope you do lots more of this!
That was an amazing experience, with some great teachers ❤️ just finished watching Xanders take on the trip 😆 he's such a card, great energy. Once again you have done an amazing job capturing the beautiful scenery and excitement of the journey! CHEERS 🍻
Well my dear friend yet another classic. I felt that I was there with your friends. You are the luckiest and the richest person on this planet. How come? Well you have the best office to work in and two great friends to accompany you........ absolutely priceless! Keep the videos coming bro.
Regards from across the great pond Steve
Seeing you boys together, excited in the beginning put a smile on my face. And what a ride down the river that was. Glad it was a safe trip, thanks for bringing us along
What a fantastic adventure! That looked like so much fun, and also terrifying.
Emotional energy is the word. Adrenaline the whole time. Others to bounce it around, after the trip it continues. Proud of You definitely growing out of comfort zone!!
On behalf of myself and 206K of my closest friends, we are very glad that you didn't bail on this trip. The three of you make a great team. Looking forward to the coming of Spring and more bouncy water adventures!
Awesome trip. So much growth happens outside of the comfort zone. Good on ya for getting out there!
THANKS Jon. That is like the best kind of "TV"; of seeing you guys working together and having fun up north, to be priviledged to watch. Thank-you for sharing.
Facing our fear is always one of the hardest things we do in life. Proud of you Jon 👍
Getting outside your comfort zone is great to do in qualified company. Looks like you were having fun at the end. Great video. 👍
Wow, great job at navigating the rapids! I was on the edge of my seat through most of them! I have never paddled whitewater, it attracts me but at the same time scares the crap out of me. lol Too bad on the canoe damage and the leaky dry pack. People would laugh at me when I used to canoe trip because my sleeping bag and clothes were always in dry bags inside the dry bag. lol My worst fear, sleeping cold or should I say, trying to sleep cold. lol Wonderful adventure, you three seem to be great travelling companions. Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Hahah *trying* to sleep cold is right. I've always had clothes in a dry bag but sleeping bag should really join that party...you are wise! Thanks as always J!
Great video. I see you were out for an early spring swim. Dumping can be your new way of catching some fish. Glad to see you were alright and ran more rapids. Enjoyed seeing the boys all together enjoying some fun!
The stars are so beautiful in the night sky. Thank you for the great video. 👍 👍 👍
Whoa Man! That looked hectic!! As a guy with very limited canoeing experience it was an awesome trip and fun to live through your "lesser" experience and with a couple awesome experienced bros. lol, 8:56 Hi Xander!! Can't believe you dumped on the first set but that's just part of what great adventures are made of. Thanks for taking us along. My heart rate picked up on some of those rapids as I could imagine yours was exhilarated so nice call on the dual screen through those shots Bro and perfectly timed slo mo's. 31:23 amazing shot for a guy with no camera crew. If this wasn't done with the drone, this shot was A LOT of work and the bird call is icing on the cake, much respect appreciation.
Hahah thanks so much Josh! Under 12 mins to get down the hill, paddle through, and hike back up...not too bad. Brad's creative idea :)
@@LostLakes You had some great Bro's upstream. I added Brad's channel for sure. keep paddling, adventures! I was just asking you like 2 days ago, got any new stuff? This was awesome content Brother,
@@LostLakes Big up's to Brad. Really sweet 10 second shot for a lot more work than 10 seconds footage!
My dad and I did the Tat 30 years ago in low conditions (neither of us had any whitewater experience). Many of the swifts we waded. I think I remember that falls. Dad caught brookies at the base and saw a lynx on an old forestry road nearby. Im a bit foggy on the details, but I do remember eating pike each night, the brook trout, and the lynx. Good times with pop. Thanks for bringing me back in time on this one! Always enjoy your work
You guys are doing it right. Staying together, scoping out the swifter water. It’s nice to hear the honesty and sincerity about this trip. I already watched Xander’s channel. It’s nice seeing it from your point of view.
Jon in a tent? What is this new devilry?
Great video man, always appreciated.
Hey Jon, just LOVE to watch you and your style of filming … you are so informative, real ,refreshing, while at the same time being poetic … ty for how it makes me feel when you post a video ✌🏼
Super trip!!! So glad we got to go along!!
For someone who has clocked up 1000's of paddle hours yet your so humbled about the whole white water and impacting the other guys. Your always so real with your audience.
Another amazing video mate!
Super fun trip! Would love to see you do more of this over the summer. You only get to learn something once and it would be a fun experience to see you try to develop a new skillset as a challenge this year. We don't normally get to see you struggle with much so it's fun to see an aspect of canoeing you're not totally familiar with. Excited to see the hot tent retired for the season and the canoe back in action.
Thanks for this Jon!!! The Lost Lakes channel continues to feed my adventurous soul from the comfort of my couch!🙃
Another good video. Thanks for taking us along. Looking forward to an Erin and John adventure.
Well done Jon. Thanks for sharing.
Once again I find myself changing my evening plans. I simply can’t not watch when I get these notifications. Stunning photography again. Unless there are some whitewater experiences you haven’t filmed and uploaded, this seemed to be the most challenging route you’ve taken so far. Nicely done. No surprise that the number of Lost Lakes subscribers continues to grow steadily.
I truly appreciate that Sean 💚 Definitely the most challenging WW I've done...I've had short CII runs before but they've been few and far between so this was a terrific place to learn
Great adventure. Nice to see the three of you working so well together.
What a great trip. The best trips are with good friends. Great learning experience to. Loved the video. Stay safe. God bless.
The best part is we get to see em 3 times. "conquering fear"🔥🙌
Baptism by fire, or should I say, ice cold water. Great job John. Overcoming your fears is the best way forward. You couldn't have been in better company. Love your channel.
"At least your dry suit worked" and "Rocks and Canoes are bad!" you guys are hysterical. I can't wait to see more of the 3 of you on trips together. Your channel keeps growing everytime you post a new video, the youtube gods are loving you lately! Keep on the awesome work and can't wait for the next video.
Hahah I love tripping in this trio. Thanks a lot cg83, the algorithm has been good to us lately...we'll enjoy it while it lasts
the people love it!! I know i do! what beautiful places he go's its amazing!!! Also I'm a felon so i dnt think i could ever do half the lakes he does in the north Canada don't let us in.....sad but i messed up i guess. I live in Cleveland so I'm already close so maybe that is why it's hurts me so lol
What positive energy coming from you three.
Being honest with your feelings and thoughts bring about bonding and understanding.
That’s what real men are made of.
Thank you for sharing this with us, it truly was a high energy experience.
I was thinking about the guys the same way on this trip...no macho, toxic masculinity junk and I really appreciate that about them. Thanks so much Faye 💚💚💚
Brad! Nice to see you paddling with Jon! I've followed both of your channels
Wow this looked thrilling! Great use of the alternate camera shots... gives us a good feel.
Hey Jon.... such a fantastic trip... And what a collaboration! So glad to see you and your buddies enjoying the challenges.
Great trip! It's comforting to see someone like you with a lot of experience to be a bit sceptical of whitewater, me and a couple of guys was out a few weeks back with our cheap kayaks during the spring flood here in Sweden, it was above my level of competence, above the level of our equipement and definitely above my comfort level..but, we made it..
Again, it looked like a great trip! All the best.
Thank you! It's pretty scary when you know you're out of your comfort level or skill level. Thankfully we both made it and learned a lot I'm sure :)
I learned a valuable lesson tonight, never skip a trip for a Leaf game, even game 7. Fortunately this vid helped ease the pain a bit. Cheers.
I love the scenery you capture. Where I live, I don't get the luxury of getting to see all those beautiful stars! The world is an amazing place and I love seeing it through your videos. They're very humbling, as you yourself, are humble. I'd love to go on one of your winter camping trips with you. That would be a dream come true.
Awesome adventure!
BRAD is the Man, love their channel. Glad you challenged yourself feels good to do new stuff with support.
Nice to see a healthy respect for the river. Miss the white water thrill myself, so living vicariously.
Love the growth of the channel 🙌 if we don't get uncomfortable and scared we dont have growth I'm finding that in my recovery
Exceptional.. kept me on edge of my seat! Love the drone shots, split screen rapids and voice over narrative. Glad you have some like minded dudes to have fun with!
I loved this!! And I have HUGE admiration for the three of you. Both in your courage to overcome your fears and the wellness of Xander and Brad to teach. And the sheer humbleness needed from all in being the student and teacher. Great video!!!
And there is a BUT... wirth Xander being in active recovery? Why do you break out the scotch in front of him so comfortably? I am sure Xander is quite the gentleman and assures you it doesn't bother him, but what would you expect him to say? Just seems really disrespectful to me.
Thank you and I appreciate your empathy. He doesn't want anyone to act differently around him...that's what would make it a "thing". If he was freshly sober that would be totally different but he's been in the driver's seat for years
@@LostLakes thank you for responding. Please know I meant no harm. Just like to protect all natural resources! Ya'll deserve this things for all the happiness you provide.
Good job pushing yourself. This clearly was good peer pressure. You’ve surrounded yourself with good people which always equals a good time.
Hello John that was awesome adventure I'm glad you okay when you fall to the water, The view was incredible thank you for sharing the video.
The victory screech at 15:00 killed me haha you guys made it through safe and sound and have to celebrate !
I loved Xander birthing out of his dry suit lol and blowing a kiss in the background when john was talking food ha ha ha I giggled for ages on that one! What a hoot! Great adventure!I could feel the tension in the rapids, I admire you doing things that scare you. Greetings from Aus
One of your best videos! Its been great to see you evolve as a canoeist and a filmographer :)
Very Cool Update in every way.! Well done on all counts to you all for sharing to bring us along. Thank You .!
Most people do not want to express what is outside of their comfort zone. Thus video shows how beneficial it is to do so.
Great video Jon. Looked like a lot of fun. What a great environment to learn in. 🍻
Insane! I fish adjacent to white water often and I get that queezy feeling when the current grabs my kayak and spins me around. I appreciate the feels of being at the mercy of the rapids. Cheers Jon!
One of the better “crossover” videos out there. Sometimes when UA-camrs get together, it’s a damn disaster.
The shots of the regrowth are amazing
Glad you pushed yourself outside of your comfort zone, since you love canoeing so much maybe you’ll get hooked.
So cool! I love when you talk about breaking out of comfort zones so you can build you skills. Makes me wanna go further on my next trip!
I like that you always remain humble even though you're obviously a very accomplished outdoorsman Well done as always!
Man that looked like alot fun! Epic adventure guy's! Seeing three canoe buddies just enjoying life! That's what it's all about!
Beauty eh? No bugs too! TY. Blessings one and all.
Great adventure, always look forward to your adventures!!! Looked like fun fun fun!!!
What a combo you guys make. Fantastic weather looked like fun. Good for you. Lovely video 📹.
another great adventure. Some day i will join you guys ^^
Now that looked like a tonne of fun Jon. Awesome way to spend a few days. Very nice region of Ontario.
Favorite lost lakes adventure thus far hands down. This is what guys are supposed to do thanks for sharing john.
Remember these days: a vocation you love and peers who both support and push you to be better tomorrow than you were yesterday. The time of your life.
This trio is awesome! Nice work, Jon. And Brad is a whitewater machine!!!
Pretty ballssy canoing down Those waterwaves but looks like a very fun camping trip With friends ... Cooking The Burrito looks fire On the fire
Really neat to see your progress through experience. Day 1: Scared, Day 2, Cautious, Day 3: Bring it on! Really makes me want to try a trip like this, but water is not my favorite thing and I'm a canoe noob, so I think I'll hold off on something like this for a while. Great group of friends to get out like this and hope there's trips planned in the future!
Lol accurate summary. Great experience if you can get some good teachers in the group
Fantastic adventure! Looks like so much fun!
I was (and still am) afraid of class III and above whitewater. Just the risk of loosing gear and getting wet as a tripper outside of bodily risk made it uncomfortable. This video captures that perfectly and most importantly the facing and conquering of that fear. I just finished a 2 day whitewater clinic last weekend. That experience was life changing in so many ways. One on one instruction in a group of 10 moving down class III+ crystal clear whitewater. We paddled Whitewater canoes and kayaks. I highly recommend it if a local group has it in your area.
Thanks a lot Flackee. Totally agree...that power just makes you powerless. Any moving water could, but at CIII my instincts tell me no. Sage advice...I was hoping to do one at the end of this month but there's a river that can really only be run at the same time that's a must for me this year
Awesome! Good on you for expanding your experiences.
Hi, Jon from Peterborough, Ontario.
I really appreciate your videos, mainly for the realism and education. I aspire to be at the level that you and your pals are at. I’m also a huge fan of Xander’s. Love your content. Always look forward to your videos.
Good job at it, a real confidence booster. Enjoyed the go along.
I love watching this adventure from different perspectives!
Watching your adventures really makes me want to take one of my own. Loved your videos!
Cheers for having so much fun!! Very impressive on all the canoe handling, and way to get back on that horse!
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and like I said before you are so brave thank you for all you do
Congratulations on overcoming your fear of white water. Great video. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your adventure! A very exciting video! Cheers!
You know John's having fun when he busts out the Tusken Raider impersonation. Well done for conquering your fear.
Great trip and content! Great to see the three of you working together. Awesome stuff.
Great trip and video - appreciated your vulnerability with whitewater. That paddling away shot at 31:25 gave us a great view!!
Enjoyable watching you boys out and having some fun and adventures. Building wonderful memories for your old age years.
Enjoyed the video as I do all of them. Your camp meals always look so delicious. I would buy a cookbook if you were to produce one. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks a lot Ricky! Kevin Outdoors on UA-cam is a fantastic resource on backcountry cooking (some of my meals are from his cookbook)
Wow, this was a great trip, thanks for bringing us along with you....
Cool to see you out with Brad. My tripping partner has tripped with him. Definitely somebody you want around if you're going out of your comfort zone in those conditions.
Absolutely, it was really great to learn from him and feel supported if something went awry
Our favorite portage in camp drink: of course we all might prefer a good red ale but nobody in their right mind portages in large amounts of beer, so I like hot toddies. Ingredients: 1/2 package of Swiss Miss instant Apple CIder per drink, 1 cinnamon stick, small amount of honey, 2 shots of Baccardi 151 rum (151 because a little goes a long way) boiling water. Combine all ingredients and enjoy, drinking through the cinnamon stick makes it a little sweeter. As far as simple cold mixed drinks: purify a few liters of water, add one cap container of Crystal Light per liter and mix extremely well, add bourbon or your preferred spirits and enjoy.
Like it, that's good edition. see ya!, =))
Man that scared me too! And Xander escaped what could have been a disaster at the end with that rock. Kudos to you for realizing that we have to learn how to fail if we are to grow. Your videos have quickly risen to the top of my watch list. Now, you need to find a canoe manufacturer to sponsor you with a new whitewater boat. Get out and promote your channel to those companies. Sorry, just a little motivation for you. But, watching you do the patch was interesting for me. I have experience wrapping a solo boat around a rock. It was a very long time ago before I understood the power of moving water. Ain't no joke! Looking forward to more, stay safe.
Really appreciate that Tom! Haha a fully outfitted WW boat would be very sweet
Jon, I loved this Video and admire your being so brave! Great message about fear. It was good to see you three guys together. Thanks 😊
Solid job John! Ive dumped plenty in white water and you handled it well. Great campsite at the class 3 ledge. You should give Nick Harland a follow. He does solo canoeing out here in Alberta and does alot of whitewater. Some beauty scenery as well.
I doff my cap to you young elf. That took some 'plums' to get out of your comfort zone, an adventure to remember.
'Lost Lakes and the Odd River Wild'
John i truly applaud your determination to step out of your comfort zone all while knowing when to make choices in safe comfort zone. You have two great friends to guide along the way. May you three have many more epic adventures to share. Best regards to Brad and Xander
If there was ever a video that deserved a thumbs up, its this one. You really captured the camaraderie between the three of you and the joy you all experienced. Having those two there must have been a huge mental boost after that first day. Wow John, write a book pal. Would be a best seller no joke. Brilliant video yet again.
Thanks so much Tyler 💚 If this had been a solo trip with rough weather it would have been pretty miserable
Great comment 👊🏼
Please do write that book. 🙏
