The kid in the first clip running always inspired me. I tried to find out how he's doing today, but it was hard. Apparently after the commercial aired he dropped over 30 pounds. I'm genuinely proud of him.
@mr system some pretty strong assumptions coming from a guy that seems to be a hater. Just because you're not satisfied with yourself, doesn't mean you should knock others down. bum
Probably because all the other (mostly) are already something like pro athlete league people, u can’t relate to them they are like finished product, you are just seeing the skill they have, first guy is more relatable to most of us
I know this commercial itself is a device of marketing, but I should admit myself that every single words inspires me to make a greatness in my life! it's astonishing!

@Gohan you must have never been heavily obese if you can’t call what that first kid did as equally impressive. For some, even walking at a size like that is absolutely exhausting and even painful, the fact that he was moving as fast as he was is incredible, especially if he hadn’t been doing any exercise previously.
"Greatness is not some rare DNA strand It's not some precious thing Greatness is not more unique to us than breathing We're all capable of it All of us" The most motivating lines. Love from India.
I wouldn't call this an ad. Id call it an inspirational video sponsored by Nike, and this honestly amazing content. There should be more commercials like this.
I used to be 296 until i made the choice and effort to change. i lost 118 lbs in approximately 8 months, stuff like this and the realization that you are in control of your life has brought me further than what was previously thought possible. For all out there on a mission of bettering themselves in any way, just go for it. the feelings of laziness and anything that derails you is just your old sub-self trying to take control. you got this, you are bigger than you could possibly imagine.
it's fortunate that you lost weight when you did. most fat people don't make it past being a teenager. they just get eaten by even fatter people. that's how the cycle of fatness works
I came across this video probably 4 years ago and it helped me wake up everyday to run and finally complete my first 14km charity run. With someone who couldn't run more than a km, this was one of my best achievements. Now, over the 4 years, I still keep coming back to watch this and Ive watched it over a few dozen times. Thank you for this, it has helped.
I have this slogan... "Find your greatness" in my classroom. I teach history to high school students. I show this video as part of my first day lesson. It gives me goosebumps every time!!!!
I agree with you, I am supposed to write a comparative essay draft, meanwhile all l I can think about while watching this ad; are its advertisement tactics.
Yeah.. but its funny.. when the kid throws the ball he has the glove on the left hand, but when he "caught" the ball the glove is on the other hand.. and has to switch the glove..
The first guy reminds me of a motto I saw a long time ago, that really struck a nerve: "No matter how slow you go, you're still lapping everyone on the couch" Those are great ads, thank you. It's easy to compare ourselves to world famous people, we see them everyday on screens. But that's not the only greatness, and greatness doesn't need an audience. Thank you for reminding me.
I love these, especially the first two. What I'm finding really intersting about it is you don't see a nike anything in sight. When I saw the kid pitching the ball..it made me want to cry. It's beautiful and moving and...I can't even find the right words to express how it made me feel.
lol you're gonna need to buy from somewhere. It doesn't have to be from nike. Those fresh kicks at the dollar store really look like they have g8 ankle support
A year ago, I started running after seeing this ad. I used to have trouble running even 2 km, but now I can run 10 km in 50 minutes. I think of that boy who runs until the end even though it is very difficult.

Greatness
It's just something we made up
Somehow we've come to believe that greatness is a gift
Reserved for a chosen few
For prodigies
For superstars
And the rest of us can only stand by watching
You can forget that
Greatness is not some rare DNA strand
It's not some precious thing
Greatness is not more unique to us than breathing
We're all capable of it
All of us
Some people are told they were born with greatness
Some people tell themselves
If greatness doesn't come knocking at your door
Maybe you should go knock on its door
Sometimes greatness is about overcoming insurmountable adversity
Sometimes is just fun
Greatness isn't always measured in tenths of a point
It's a bit bigger than that
Sometimes greatness is something you plan
But most of the time is just something you try
Is easy to think greatness is something you see on TV
Unless of course, greatness is watching TV
Greatness is a scary thing
Until it isn't
If we think greatness is supposed to look a certain way, act a certain way and play a certain way
We certainly need to rethink some things
Is it speed or endurance?
Does it happen in two hours or for or six?
Is it finishing strong? Or barely finishing?
Yes
Is greatness worth fighting for?
What do you think?
If we face our fears
It means we're pointed in the right direction
Even if that direction is upside down
It's not the biggest stadium in the world
Not the biggest players either
But the pursuit of greatness is kinda big enough, isn't it?
You don't need an official court
An official net
Or official uniforms
To be officially great
Greatness speaks for itself
Once it learns to talk
Greatness needs a lot of things
But it doesn't need an audience
Some measure greatness in precious metals
Like iron
Greatness is not born
It's made
If you try to tell the guy with the sword he's not great because he's not famous
Be my guest
There are no grand celebrations here
No speeches
No bright lights
But there are great athletes
Somehow we've come to believe that greatness is reserved for the chosen few
For the superstars
The truth is
Greatness is for all of us
This is not about lowering expectations
It's about raising them for every last one of us
Because greatness is not in one special place
And it's not in one special person
Greatness is wherever somebody is trying to find it.
Thank you so much for transcripting this!
Janet Styles you're welcome. I found bits of it online so I can't take full credit
For more info on all of that, read The Outliers. Covers a lot of great stuff that this commercial is talking about.
Thank you very much! I will definitely do so.
Wow
The first one hit me on a personal level. I went from 330 to 158 by doing exactly what he was doing. Doesn’t matter how slow you are at first, we all have to start somewhere.
Well done, that is no easy feat
Nie they are promoting extremely obese women and saying THAT is greatness. I hope someone finally will ban that extremely toxic esg score. It corrupts everything
Incredible! You are an inspiration to many people. Keep moving forward in your life.!
I’m proud of you. Keep it up❤
Lets gooooo
"Greatness needs a lot of things but it doesn't need an audience"
Gave me goosebumps
What a line!
I always come back just for that line
but what about instagram
it does need tv ad money
This is a fantastic campaign indeed. Every ad looked at greatness from a different, non-repetitive, realistic, artistic angle. I am so full right now!
! gguhu
Yeah it was really awesome i liked the one with the sword and the kid jumping in the pool.
The kid in the first clip running always inspired me. I tried to find out how he's doing today, but it was hard. Apparently after the commercial aired he dropped over 30 pounds. I'm genuinely proud of him.
He did lose some weight. This is an old video of him about a year later. ua-cam.com/video/th-Gx9AV3Bg/v-deo.html
There’s something about that first dude. That was really powerful.
Facts
i think most of us can relate to that guy and seeing someone like us do something that we procrastinate about motivates us to do the same.
@mr system some pretty strong assumptions coming from a guy that seems to be a hater. Just because you're not satisfied with yourself, doesn't mean you should knock others down. bum
i dont understand though. If he's really been working out how is he still so fat?
Probably because all the other (mostly) are already something like pro athlete league people, u can’t relate to them they are like finished product, you are just seeing the skill they have, first guy is more relatable to most of us
I respect the first dude on the video
That was his first and the last work out.
He's running to Mc Donald's
MetalGearyaTV u never know
Because he's obese?
Janzq13 because he’s working on not being obese
I know this commercial itself is a device of marketing, but I should admit myself that every single words inspires me to make a greatness in my life! it's astonishing!
LANA and its even better how they don't mention three product itself
Because at least someone thought as far as he would. He kept thinking about questions not the typical response he rejected the typical thought and thought about the nature of the "greatness"
I think their marketing strategy is trying to inspire us. Well, they are trying to get our emotions.
I think at least some of the people workin there or at least the starter of the company had the good thing on their mind
If you mention marketing this way, it’s because you don’t know what it is, marketing is not just about advertising but about creating a bond with the costumer and giving them a true value.
“Some people are told they were born with greatness, some people tell themselves”
Kanye West
Each time someone interacts with this comment or when I get reminded of this campaign, I'll come back here to remind myself that greatness is not in one special person.
Greatness is wherever somebody is trying to find it
Keep pushing, if it was easy everyone would do it and you wouldn't want it anyway
a reminder that you are great.
The first dude is the best. I wish him all the best. Keep Going Mate.
Amen yo!
That guy with the one arm really hit home. That's was the dopest thing I've seen
I played with a kid is baseball that had a similar problem. It's really cool to see them adapt with only being able to use one hand
