Any word on if either shoe has an SLS (shoe lacing system)??? Ha ha ha ha ha ha, 😜. 😝 Great reviews and comparison as always. 2021 bringing amazing things already with Puma Nitro, 361 Flame, Atreyu The Artist, Freedom 4, Reebok FFE3.......and if ASICS were to put a plate in a Novablast2, that'd be curtains. And who knows what Saucony might do with Endorphin.
I have both the Hyperion Tempo and the Saucony Speed. Most of the review videos discuss shoes in generalities and don't use a lot of data beyond stack height and shoe weight. Small unscientific sample but I ran a duplicate tempo run on different days at the same time of day on a rolling course in both shoes and the Tempo averaged 11 seconds/mile faster. I have a hill repeat course where I run 6 repeats that are about a minute in duration. The Tempo averaged 4 seconds per repeat faster (ran the 2 workouts a week apart - temperature was 2 degrees warmer for the Tempo workout, same time of day, no gels or anything before any of these workouts). The fastest repeat with the Speed was 1 second slower than the slowest repeat with the Tempo. I weighed 1 pound lighter after the Speed workout than after the Tempo workout. Heart rate was the same average and max for both workouts - by chance, I didn't try to make them match. The Tempo is 1.05 oz lighter than the Speed in US 10.5 and it is noticeable on the hills. The Speed fits better on my narrow foot but the Tempo seems to breathe better - maybe because of the somewhat wider fit. I'm 175 pounds and the Speed seems to be a bit more of a jarring foam than the Hyperion. My achilles remind me of this.
Useful data! The whole point of these "plate shoes" is increasing efficiency which in turn produces a number of benefits. I've done a progression run in Glycerin and HR/effort has been less than a lighter tighter shoe. For the wider high volume foot crowd Brooks is efficient and of course "Fit" Excited to get to the shops and see about HyperionElite2, Catamount.
I recently bought both shoes. Although I appreciate everything the Speed brings to the table in a relatively affordable package (esp w/ v1 on sale now!), for me the Tempo is just right. I haven't had success with the high stack + narrow base + plate formula (including Vaporfly 4%). My jam is more the low stack + high turn-over set-up, which makes shoes like the Reebok run fast and Skechers razor excess more appealing to me. I'll also note that there are a lot of questions on the internet about whether the Tempo can be used as a marathon shoe. I just did 15 miles in it on my first run and initial impression is it can go the distance. No foot pain or other niggles to report. I can see the Tempo becoming a staple shoe in my rotation. So glad to finally give it a spin today.
Yes Fordy got both these shoes both are very good. The Tempo is a bit on the firm side for us lighter runners but works well at faster paces. The Endorphin speed just edges it for me ,it does everything the Tempo does and more but in more comfort and your legs feel more refreshed after a run.
Ive ran 170 miles in Endorphin Speed so far, and I am interested in picking up Hyperion Tempo soon. Having said, Speed is an amazing shoes. I am looking to rotate through different shoes so I do not injure myself.

Another pair of the speed? Did you get the black version?
I’m liking my Hyperions a lot so far.
They are awesome
Haven’t tried the speeds but the tempos are a bit too soft for me.
Where does the Razor 3 fit into this mix?
For those fast 5k or 10k
How do these compare with the Reebok Run Fast 2.0?
I think these are more an up tempo race day shoes
👍👍
