Love the Speed 3. I never ran in the Speed 1 or 2, so I will look forward to eventually giving the 4s a shot. Just bought another pair of 3s for $130 on sale.
If I had Achilles issues with the heel counter on the endorphin speed 3 do you think that issue would keep happening because of a similar heel counter design or is it different

Oh man same! The 2 is amazing and it’s getting so hard to find them at this point! The 3 rips my heel up everytime I wear them. Fingers crossed on the 4
Here after running 100 miles in my pair. The shoe felt very black and white. On some days it felt like it did what was advertised and on the others it wasn’t a fun ride. Also it slowed down a notch or two at around 75 miles. My advice would be the Boston 12, Hoka Mach or wait for the other shoes to release. Mizuno neo vista felt super soft but I’d weigh in on that
Great review, thanks! I'm eagerly awaiting my 4's!! Is the SRS really a game changer? 😅 Hoping that tread will last up ro my usual ~350mi lifespan ive been getting oit of the previous versions. The spice is back!?
Got the REI “leaked” colorway and have about 25 miles in them. Loved the 2, “meh” on the 3, still undecided on these. Not as stiff, light or snappy as the 2s, not as “baggy” feeling as the 3s were. Wish they didn’t go as wide in the heel as they have to overcorrect the “unstable” complaints on the 1 and 2. Improvement but still not as quick as the originals. Luckily have a few pairs of 2s with 300 or so miles left in each, then will go to a rotation of the 4 for longer, slow days and the Magic Speed 3 for tempos, Pro3/4 for race days.
@@io-rj6sk I think in part it was that they were first. The nylon plate felt revolutionary to me and I could really work through all my paces including 10 min/mile paces. The 2nd and third felt exactly like they described in the video. Too much in either direction.
Thanks for the review. I love long runs in the Speed 3, but reverted to Speed 1 for my half marathon to break the 1:45 barrier as the 3 was just a little too soft as a 198lb runner. I plan on wearing out the speed 3 over the spring/summer and Speed 4 will be high on marathon training/racing list in the fall.
Speed 1/2 is the greatest shoe I've ever owned and when I got the speed 3 I was very disappointed, but I found that the stability actual helped me a lot with some injuries I've been dealing with particularly adding a little 10mm wedge to the heel for my achillies rehab has made it into the perfect shoe for me. I wouldn't be where I am today with my running without the speed 3, I've tried so many different things but nothing works as well as it does. It's not quite as fast as the 1/2 but for a lot of runners it's going to be even better. Also nice to see saucony keeping up the tradition of making each new endorphin line uglier than the previous one 😂
Is the toe box still narrow. I found the speed 3 was wide apart from the narrow toe box. Also is the pro 4 toe box super narrow I couldn’t even use the pro 3 at a full size up because of it . Nike , new balance and ASICS super shoes all fit me
Did you have to size up in the speed 3 compared to other shoes? I typically wear a size 10.5 in the novablast series, but was looking into picking up a pair of speed 3 on sale. Fleet feet recommended sizing up, but others have said the they fit TTS.
@@samkovalchik5655 I’d say there true to size although the toe box is a little narrow but not as narrow as the pro 3 If they did a half size up in my size I’d like to have tried that because of toe box but then the rest of shoe would probably be too big
Appreciate the reply Steve! I ended up ordering two sizes to see which fits better, and I'll probably just return the other pair lol It seems that the speed series has been different in terms of sizing with each new iteration.@@steveh8758
Still miss the 2s....you could do anything in them...and they provided a thicker rubber...the 3s and 4s look like they only give you 40% of thag rubber
Various reviews say the outsole is better on v4. I found the v1 and 2 didn’t have great outsole durability so maybe the formula on this one has improved. You can’t tell everything just by looking. Also, I did not see the difference in rubber thickness between v1, 2 or 3 that you’re describing.
@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 I have the 2 and the 3...the thickness in rubber was the first thing that I noticed once I got the 3...and the 4s by the looks of it is similar to the 3s
Has anyone experienced hot-spots in the 4's? My 3's were awesome and I do love the ride of my 4's but I'm getting hot-spots on the pads of my pinky toes.
I’ve never worn Saucony because of my narrow feet. They’ve always felt too roomy in the toe box. Usually have to stick with Nike. How are these for people with narrow feet?I’m a size 10.5/ 11 D, but probably closer to B width.
Great review! I’m excited to hear this, the 3 wasn’t my favorite but enjoyed the miles logged. The 2 is still my favorite, hands down! So looking forward to this one.
Sounds like it's a very similar shoe to the speed 3. Which for me personally was a massively overhyped shoe. Wasn't particularly great at going fast but wasn't great for runs over 10 miles either. I feel the boston 12 does the fast stuff a lot better and the novablast 4 does the longer stuff better. So really left it in no man's land. The pro 3 really did everything better which didn't help there case. No doubt if you liked the 3 you'll like this one.
Every review I’ve seen or read including this one suggest this version is an improvement over v3. I don’t know how you got the impression it’s very similar.
@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 so you say an improvement but not different. So similar then? Sometimes you have to read between the lines. Still has softer foam and flexible plate in the foam. So it's not speed 2 replacement it's a reworked speed 3 so it's going to be very close to previous shoe.
Been a huge fan of all the Endorphins since they came out. I still have a few Pro 1's that I love for track day. (Vaporflys for Marathon race day). But have run through a few pair of Speed 3's now and have just fallen in love with them as daily trainers. They have enough support and cushion and are so much more fun to run in than really any daily trainers I have tried. So- Not really looking for something speedier in the 4. Now just need to decide if grabbing another pair of 3's on sale or going for the 4's as my next DTs.
Great Vid. Been looking forward to these for a while… loved the Speed 2’s and Speed 3’s for different reasons. Quick question. I have the Comrades Marathon coming up in June. It’s 90km n need to buy the shoe I’m going to do it in pretty soon to get some miles in them. I’m thinking Speed 4 or Pro 3 or what do you suggest… it’s going to be long n slow, sub 9 hours at around 6min/km… any help would be great. Thanks
Still loving my speed 1, one of the best shoes I’ve worn, still using them after 500 Miles. Still disappointed with the Speed 3, using them now as a good daily trainer ( though I will always prefer the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 over the speed 3 ). I am passing on the 4 because of that…
I got PB in my marathon race just 2weeks ago with my Speed 2, but I was very close to get a pair of Speed 3 in the prior weeks but finally didn't. My Speed 2 with 850km are doing great in terms of outsole durability but maybe a little less snappy. I think I may retire when adding max150km. Will have to check if Speed 3 on sale or maybe wait for the 4s. For being my first ever Saucony, pretty satisfied.
I wonder how much of the change in feel is due to the Sock liner, and if that is chiefly responsible for the speedier feel, how durable that will be and how long this shoe will last as a "jack of all trades" before it reverts to comfortable/slow day trainer.
I loved the Speed 2, hated the Speed 3 and with the Speed 4 I feel it's as good as v2: fast shoe for any distance. I have to say: I am in love with the Speed 4, madly in love
Interesting seeing how much some love the version others hate! How different we are…I loved v1 but my favorite was v2 and I’m still putting miles on a 3rd pair of 2’s. I thought it was just as much fun as the OG, but the upper was more supportive and made the shoe feel more stable to me. I also have v3 which which is not as exciting, but versatile. However, I will definitely go over to v4 once my other Speeds are ready to donate or whatever. Very glad to hear v4 will be more like the earlier iterations.
I’m running my first marathon this April! I originally was going to go with the Kinvara Pro’s for my race day shoe since I heard that the Endorphin wasn’t going to come out until April, I felt like April release was too close. Ran 10miles in a pair of Speed 4’s & found them way too firm! Love the lightweight and roll through of the plate but my ankles/knees hurt after that 10 miler. Been wearing an SC Trainer V2 with no trouble. I’m surprised that you all felt like the cushioning was good on this model.
