@@malcolmar Honda has gone fully hybrid with no performance ICE engine evident in it's future plans for N. America. An ICE prelude would only cannibalise sales from the Integra so only make sense for it to be an EV. Not that i'm for it. All EV's have the same drive feel, in my mind.
@@chichibud31 If true then that would be a truly sad thing for the enthusiasts and creates a bleak future for Honda. Makes me glad I was able to get my Type R when I did. This thing is honestly so sick. Honda already nailed the fun to drive, hybrid formula with the CR-Z. All this needs to do is maintain the manual option and make around 250ish HP to be perfect. Hopefully Honda can keep it as affordable as the CR-Z was as well.

Honda prelude was my dream car when I was a teenager, wide stance, distinct front pop up headlights and an unmistakeable rear. Unfortunately, I don’t see any lineage from the iconic car I once knew. Only a resemblance of all those common designs in this modern day which this car don’t stand out from the rest. Honda, please bring back the real feel for Prelude.
maybe i also prefer old ones, but... dude, lot of years passed, u cant expect the new prelude to be like any of those old versions. You're stuck in nostalgia, let new things grow on you.
Yes!!!! Exterior styling is on POINT. Bring back the throw back old school manual transmission and the orange interior dash lighting retro interior!!!!!
That looks nice. I just wished they kept the front bar DRL that was on the concept since it made it look more futuristic. Considering many more modern cars have it.
Sporty looking. Definitely has some potential, but a few things Honda should consider. The Carbon Fiber wrap on the rear spoiler and the side-view mirrors cheapen the appearance IMO. There should be an AWD upgrade available. There should be atleast 250+ HP for me to even consider buying one. Or atleast an upgrade option like a 2.3 or 2.5L boosted engine VS the stock 2.0L.
Honda said that it's a hybrid. Their only hybrid system is the one in the current Accord and upcoming hybrid Civic. If that's the case the Prelude won't have any speed.
It looks sick, lets just hope they have a engine in it and its somewhat fast and ik the prelude was always fwd but if this car is rwd it would dominate especially since the gr86 and the brz are stopping production this thing would sell a lot.
As a former Prelude owner, I am truly disappointed. Maybe it's nostalgia but am I the only one thinking it looks like a Tesla had a love child with a Camry?
This has practically no resemblance to the prelude except for the name. But honestly it looks great and hopefully it will evolve into a cool platform for enthusiasts
Owned my share of Preludes and that roofline/side profile DOESN’T even suggest Prelude in ANY way at all! I do like that Honda is bringing it back though. I guess it would be like comparing the Motocompo to today’s Motocompacto…..a spiritual successor or reboot, but not really meant to be the same!
Looks good, but the combination of the brake lightbar and the cursive model name logo makes its Porsche inspiration too obvious imo. Also, it being a hybrid will make it super hard to work on so I hope that’s just optioned
Eh. The thing I remember feeling about this car was that it should have been RWD. The proportions begged for it with a long hood and short deck. Honestly when the S2000 came out, aside from being a drop top - it was everything the Prelude could have been
Hopefully it'll be competitively 'everyman sports car priced' in the mid £30's like the Toyota GR86, not price hiked like the (missing the point) premium-ised hot hatch flagship Type R which is tremendous but now priced in the £50's.
As a 5th gen owner I have expectations as far as affordability. I got a Prelude not an NSX... its clean cut like the prelude line needs to be. Just wondering if its just gunna be an expensive accord coup. Rwd. Awd. Selectable drive? I love my car but shes a boat off the line. Keep it from being a big seller and its why its sales flopped for the 5th gen. If they gave it a s2000 drivetrain it would have been as ironic as the miata or 240sx. S1BUILT makes awd kits and they use crv driveline parts. Have stuff for high hp application too. Hondas with laptops are gunna get faster
yo why are they even just showing the outside. It doesn't take long to make an interior. even if it's a preproduction that they can revamp later in case there's a revolt like sonic the hedgehog. quality takes time?
Hopefully there will be enough people out there to buy it!! Nice looking, and sporty! A throwback to days before mindless SUVs, and boring crossovers.
There is no evidence yet about this being sporty. The rumor is it will use the Civic's hybrid powertrain. That isn't sporty.
