But I’m assuming the development costs for a new hybrid manual transmission are too much for them to justify it financially. Maybe they have something in the works and it’ll be available with a future facelift, but right now I don’t see many people buying this.
I daily a manual Honda cr-z which is an electric assisted motor which basically the new prelude would be doing something similar to and I love driving my cr-z and as David said yes,it is quite peppy and fun to drive. As far as the S+ as crazy as it sounds, my CRZ also has this right at the corner of the steering wheel and you push it to get a five second boost from the electric motor and it is quite exhilarating when it kicks in 😂.. I will be k swapping it though in the future that was the whole reason for me buying the car in the first place.
The new Honda hybrid system has no transmission, the engine is only directly connected to the wheels during a very limited range of speeds. I expect the S+ Shift to be similar to the fake shifts on the Ioniq6N
8:18 I just don’t get why when companies don’t have an engine so they don’t need to make the front fit and can do whatever they want, and still f it up
I think it's good coincidental damage control. Full EVs were jumped on too fast. They're much easier to make than rebuilding an entire road infrastructure to accommodate them. Using hybrids allows them to study more ways to have regenerative batteries to lessen the amount of times people need to charge their cars. I won't ever buy one but there will be a market for them
Not proportioned right for a Prelude. Should have been a resurrection of the CR-Z. If it gets the same powertrain as the new civic hybrid I could see it working as long as we get a manual option. Just more motivation to get my turbo 5th gen back on the road.
If charging station was available like a gas station & as fast as a gas station it would work out but when you have to wait 20-60 mins for a car to charge that makes it so difficult!! Imagine you are traveling out of state ? Example your GPS says 5 hours & because of the charging times that turns into 8 hour drive .
Holy crap! How fast are you driving that you burn through 3-500 miles of range three times in 5 hours? It takes about 4 hours to get from my house in DC to visit my parents 253 miles away. That's averaging more than 60 Mph. That would add zero minutes for charging and I travel through 5 states (durr out of state), You mean to tell me that if I were to go there and back I'd have to wait for *checks notes* 18 minutes for an 800v hybrid to fill up to 85%? What on earth could I do for 18 minutes? I don't use the bathroom or eat because I'm a robot that only drives continuously.
i think it’ll have a manual cos the integra a spec has the manual option and i think it’ll be fwd but also have the sh-awd option. i also think it’ll have 4ws as an option
We can sure hope... Something like Honda's old hybrid system you could get with a manual would be great. Doesn't let you drive the car as an EV only, but who says it has to? There's room in the market for a sporty hybrid that only uses the electric motor to make the gas engine more efficient, and is otherwise a conventional ICE car.
@ yeah fr and i just thought about if they make a type r version or something they’ll probably have 3 electric motors like the nsx and the rlx. i think it’d be a good idea for the sporty hybrid market

If it had a manual it might have its own niche, especially if it was the only hybrid manual transmission on the market.
This is the same thing with the z and the Supra, Toyotas going to bring the Celica with a turbo charged hybrid and it's probably going out sell this
That 0 series looks like a dust buster.
@6:24 when you realize why they call it the prelude
If charging station was available like a gas station & as fast as a gas station it would work out but when you have to wait 20-60 mins for a car to charge that makes it so difficult!! Imagine you are traveling out of state ? Example your GPS says 5 hours & because of the charging times that turns into 8 hour drive .
Holy crap! How fast are you driving that you burn through 3-500 miles of range three times in 5 hours?
It takes about 4 hours to get from my house in DC to visit my parents 253 miles away. That's averaging more than 60 Mph.
That would add zero minutes for charging and I travel through 5 states (durr out of state),
You mean to tell me that if I were to go there and back I'd have to wait for *checks notes* 18 minutes for an 800v hybrid to fill up to 85%?
What on earth could I do for 18 minutes? I don't use the bathroom or eat because I'm a robot that only drives continuously.
Where’s my prelude owners like this…
Will they build it for more prefomance based driving or for economy, that's my question. Will it at least smoke a modern br-z lol.
I'd rather Honda make kits that people can use to upgrade older models - something that people can actually afford
i think it’ll have a manual cos the integra a spec has the manual option and i think it’ll be fwd but also have the sh-awd option. i also think it’ll have 4ws as an option
Love the innocence of this guy
figure the hybrid civic was a test for the prelude
Rob Dahm still has his insight I think 😂
Literally just bragged about their civic hybrid making over 200hp.. could’ve easily used that platform and added a manual option and have the perfect car
it will probably be my first new car if its under 40k
5:32 guess they didn’t see jag
I souk have minded it being an EV , especially with what Hyundai puked of with the Ionic. I was afraid of it being another Civic variant without real heritage.
