    Very valuable. Also important ladies…make sure not to wear a sports bra that squeezes the upper intercostal muscles under the breast. If the bra is high support, I’ve found that it can actually flatten my rib cage at that spot and I have a hard time feeling my intercostal muscles expanding and it messes up my exercises.

    I'm trying this because we have an integrated physical therapy, massage therapy practice and one of my regular clients. I'm the Mt. Has a son newly diagnosed with scoliosis. The PT dug through her LinkedIn connections to find you for referral. I have a scoliosis and I'm getting pretty old now... These exercises feel great for my back, and go along with some research I'm doing about breathing and health. I'm finding that being in child's pose can help me really feel the expansion in my back. I think that's likely okay, but just checking! Thank you for this great resource!

    Great Video thank you x as a Pilates Instructor this is very helpful to me. Just a thought to place the "knot" in the band on the Left Hand Side ( or side you are breathing into) for added proprioception and visualisation x

    This is really valuable. Thanks for your video! Can i ask why do we breathe into the concave side? I would have thought breathing into the convex side would help in expansion since that is “collapsed” or always more contracted

      @@suzannem8265 we can measure lung capacity with a spirometer, use a scoliometer to track rotation in the spine, and also take pictures of your posture and body landmarks to see if there are changes overtime.

    Hi Katie. Again I ask ,where can I buy these items you use in your demos ? I like what you are showing me but sometimes I don’t hear what you are saying. The breathing exercises are something new to me but I will certainly keep working on them I am 91+ years of age and I have been trying to find specific exercises for my particular scoliosis shape. Thank you. LK from Canada ❤😊😊😊

    • @schrothboss

      Always breath into the concavity, no matter if it is in the thoracic, lumbar, or both!

    • @schrothboss
      @schrothboss  Рік тому +2

      I would try supine first because you may be able to feel the expansion better without battling gravity. But yes any position works!

    Dear Katie.. when we breath out through the mouth, we keep the ribcage expansion.. Do we hold one side that collapsed one or just or do it balance?

    • @schrothboss
      @schrothboss  11 місяців тому

      You will get some “global expansion” meaning expanding on both sides, however you can focus on expanding the concavity more, the more collapsed side.

    Why breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth? Breathing in through the mouth and out through the mouth would have less impedance of airflow

    • @schrothboss

      Breathing in through the nose will help with oxygen uptake and humidify the air as you breathe in!
