Skipknot percussion tracks are always complex, it helps that they have a drummer and two percussionists playing tympani, large toms, and tyko-type drums. Amazing tribal effect live.
If you love Corey's voice and want more of the softer side of it, the Slipknot song "Snuff" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. But you should also check out Corey's other band, Stone Sour. Especially their songs "Through Glass," "Bother," "Imperfect," and "Miracles". Those are some of their softer, prettier songs, but they've a lot of awesome, harder songs as well.
I am literally unable to sit still when listening to this song. It's so full of energy. Makes me want to run a freaking marathon or do parkour. Fun fact: The Duality video cost an estimated $500,000 and was shot at a Des Moines home (belonging to a fan I believe) that was to due to be renovated. Yep. Slipknot has SO many amazing songs. Everything off of their self titled, Iowa, and Volume 3 are reaction worthy but even their newest albums are phenomenal. The Gray Chapter was great!
"That is the best song I have ever written...today." Love you David. Please keep being yourself. The Drummer WAS Joey Jordison. He IS a MONSTER drummer. Sadly he is no longer in the band as of the past two albums and was replaced by Jay Weinberg. Song of Max Weinberg, drummer for Bruce Springsteen. Check out Spit it out live at Download 2009. It’s a showcase of controlled insanity led by Corey’s insane stage presence and Joey’s insane drum set. Another good one is Devil in I
Corey Taylor was also found, by VVN Music, to possess the second-highest vocal range of any known singer in popular music with a range of 5 and a half octaves. He was beaten only by Mike Patton (6 octaves). My brother who is a fair bit older than me showed me this band when I was a kid, so I have grown up with this band. Slipknot's drummer was Joey Jordison up to the album All Hope Is Gone, where he either left or got fired before the next one, so in this video the legend of the drummer is indeed Joey Jordison. The bassist is Paul Gray who was the heart of the band but unfortunately passed after All Hope Is Gone. Guitarists are Mick Thompson and Jim Root, both of which are awesome on the guitar. In response to your question about the drummer, at the time this was recorded the drummer was Joey Jordison. On another note, I'd love to hear your thoughts/analysis on Amaranthe - That Song; they're a fantastic band where pop meets metal!
If you're impressed with the drummer on THIS SONG which is pretty tame drum-wise for a Slipknot song, then you should definitely react to more of their songs, I don't have any in particular in my mind but take any song from their first or second album and you'll be blown away. Also I would suggest to react to some early live versions. Cause Slipknot is really a band made for live reactions, and in their early years they were literally INSANE on stage.
The drummer is called Joey Jordison, one of the best drummers ever. He got kicked from Slipknot due to drug and health issues. The current Slipknot drummer is also great btw
Hi! Please do The Jiggler - Dance Gavin Dance and Gasoline - I Prevail! Also Moon - Secret Band with Jon Mess, Will Swan and the drummer from Dance Gavin Dance!
I remember, Auckland New Zealand, October 2008. I'd just turned 13, and my birthday present was a ticket to the Slipknot show. I had the time of my life, and I still love Slipknot to this day! I'm glad I got to see the full lineup, before Paul's passing.
I second the idea of a Slipknot 5 By. Get The Blister Exists, Left Behind, Eyeless, Sic, Heretic Anthem, My Plague; they have a lot of great music. Been lurking a while, this review got me to subscribe. Keep up the great content!
Joey Jordison was the drummer here, he is singlehandedly one of the best drummers in metal and is known for a multitude of things. Better to look him up than to ask me questions though, lol.
FYI the guy who was hitting the keg with the bat (an instrument in this band) is Shawn Crahan aka Clown and he writes a good deal of the music for the band.
Fun facts about this song and Slipknot. Joey Jordison's real first name is Nathan. The high pitched cymbal like beat in this song where you see Clown (Shawn Crahan) hit a garbage can with a bat; that's how the sound was made. It was a steel trash can hit with an aluminum bat. Before we knew they're names, the members of Slipknot were known by their masks, and were also numbered. Joey was number 1, because the drums are the number one thing in a band, the heart beat. The heart beat stops, nothing else works.
It might just be me, but this band always felt the same way as Tool. Definitely my favourite Slipknot song.. the guitar players are Jim Root and Mick Thomson. Also Sound City is such a great documentary.. I need to watch that again.
Coreys voice is just phenomenal. two of my favorite songs where his voice is just so powerfull and soft and the same time are in "i'm not jesus" with Apocalyptica (2007) and "Inhale" with Stone sour (2002)

Love when you apply the songs onto the keys, that’s the next instrument I wanna learn. Should check out the song “unsainted.” There’s 9 band members in slipknot by the way but they count themselves from 0-8
To me the best thing about Corey Taylor is his versatility. Songs like from can to can’t, slipknot’s snuff or stone sour’s bother are great examples of his more beautiful mellow side, while you can go and listen to slipknots first 2 albums to hear the opposite end of the spectrum, with the demonic brutality of his screams. On top of that, their first album had quite a few rapping sections and his more recent solo stuff has a more country/blues vibe. The man can do anything
Always hype for Slipknot reactions. My recommendation is a bit unoriginal but I'd love to see you do Snuff, followed by the live, acoustic version with just Corey. Please research the song before the reaction though so you understand not just the lyrics but the wider context for why the song matters so much to him.
For anyone new to slipknot there’s definitely a few songs I recommend, Sulfur, psychosocial, before I forget, the devil in I, dead memories, vermillion (pt 1 & 2), wait and bleed and snuff. All of their songs are great but these are pretty easy to listen to for beginners :)
The Drummer is Joey Jordison (He was once the best drummer and was replaced due to an illness) and their new drummer is Jay Weinberg (the son of Max Weinberg who was playing drums for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band). The Guitar Players are Jim Root (Stone Sour) and Mick Thompson. The Melodic parts are usually Jim Root and the Thrash or heavier riffs are usually Mick. Sometimes they split the solos. Craig Jones on Keyboard, Sid Wilson as the DJ, Paul Gray was the bassist (but passed away) and was replaced by Alessandro Venturella, Chris Fehn and Shawn Crahan on percussion and backing vocals (Chris was replaced by Michael Pfaff cause of issues within the band. And last but not least Corey Taylor (Stone Sour) on vocals. These are and were the members of slipknot since they became popular in 1999-present. Normally they perform with 9 members. Ps the name for Slipknot fans is Maggots.
The Sound City track you're thinking of is "From Can to Can't" and I agree Corey is phenomenal on that. Great song. Edit: Oh, you found it later haha. Nice.
Loved the video, you are in for a wild ride. Some songs you should check out by Slipknot are Disasterpiece, Liberate, Pulse Of The Maggots, Vermilion, (Sic), and People = Shit. The list goes on, but those are some of my favorites.
Fun fact, the bass player Paul Gray came up with the main riff/progression. R.I.P. Also, the band lineup was (at the time of this album/video); Corey Taylor - (8) Vocals Shawn 'Clown' Crahan - (6) Percussion/backing vocals Joey Jordison - (1) Drums Craig '133' Jones - (5) Keyboard/samples Mick Thompson - (7) Guitar Sid Wilson - (0) Turntables Chris Fehn - (3) Percussion/backing vocals Jim Root - (4) Guitar Paul Gray - (2) Bass/backing vocals

Aw yes, finally. Great video david. Loved it. Should definitely do the 5 by. I'd recommend, wait and bleed, devil in I, psychosocial and unsainted

Also, the band lineup was (at the time of this album/video);
Corey Taylor - (8) Vocals
Shawn 'Clown' Crahan - (6) Percussion/backing vocals
Joey Jordison - (1) Drums
Craig '133' Jones - (5) Keyboard/samples
Mick Thompson - (7) Guitar
Sid Wilson - (0) Turntables
