I'm sold brother....I have saws, drills, chainsaws, weed whackers and even a heat gun.....time to get with the times man...how many times have you fussed with a darn weed whacker that won't start in the spring? Never again!! Sold off all my gas weed whackers...and yes...I have about 10 batteries I've amassed over time...pick a brand, roll with it and never look back my brother
I agree..wont go back to gas after going electric. Dont even use my air tools anymore
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer sounds like you want more free stuff from Milwaukee. I’m going to need a reason to “get with the times” before I jump on the bandwagon - a reason like the equipment can actually do the whole job. I have no desire to be brand loyal. Unfortunately, it seems these brands are not producing what the people actually want, they are kowtowing to the ugly hand of forced governmental regulation, or the perception of future regulations - just like the automobile industry. All eyes are on the canary in the coal mine California as the state rolls out legislation against combustion engines of all kinds. The impetus for all these battery powered machines is the fear of future regulation NOT providing the customers with what they actually want. I thought youd be for the free market and against governmental meddling and coercion?
We're talking about a power tool....not a Tesla in California buddy.....nothing is "free" my friend....with the exception of the content that I and other's provide for you to watch and enjoy. This isn't an EV brother...it's a power tool.....it's not a bandwagon and it's not Joe Biden's weed whacker....it's a power tool. You've got a cell phone in your pocket with a battery in it brother....is that not a tool also? Let's address "free".....in comparison to what you do for work. See, you go to work or run a business...and you pay yourself or rely on someone else to pay you for your services. I pay myself....and I create video content and run a small farm. When a company like Milwaukee Tool reaches out to me...they simply provide a tool for me to use on the property and use in my business. Just like you or your company would provide a computer, welder, work desk, building, pens, pencils and or steel toe boots. When you show up to work...does the boss give you a "free building" to work inside? My friend...it's just another tool or part of the job that helps you get through your day. I'd hope you'd appreciate this....after all..I worked for 6 hours to show you a cool tool....yep, setup....filming, creativity in filming this, fuel in the side by side, $4,000 computer, and 3 hours editing. Long story short, putting me down isn't productive here....nothing is "free" my friend. I work very hard to bring you some unique content to enjoy. This is a power tool...not an EV and nobody is shoving it down your throat. I'm actually going out now to use it under my fenclines. Thanks for hearing me out buddy.....it's just a power tool...and I'm telling ya...I've parked my gas powered string trimmers...and I have 2 of them. Technology has come a long way over the past 15 years. We can't throw stones at battery tools just because some idiots think they're gonna outlaw gas powered cars....it's not gonna happen! I'd be we share the same political views my friend 😉
@@abfavero I've been real happy with my Makita wireless electric tools. 18V 5Ah Li-Ion batteries that charge fast and pull hard through an entire charge. The brushless tool lineup is amazing. Regarding quality? Shoot, my drill came with a Japanese Yukiwa Seiko chuck from the factory, find that somewhere else. The hypoid circular saw will out cut anything including a vintage Skil-Saw and no cord to manage (huge benefit when up on a roof). The 32V (two battery) chain saw will run alongside a Stihl or Echo just fine, plus it's lighter. And one of the biggest benefits? No need for ear pro. Gas tools have their place, but electric provides a convenience and ease of use that is worth considering especially for the hobbyist or home-gamer who isn't wearing out batteries on a regular basis. A lot of pro tree service guys are switching to battery saws for topping, because they are light and quiet, and turn on when you need them instead of wasting fuel while they hang at idle.

I bought a similar third party blade for my string trimmer and use it to clear small brush to build food plots in the woods.
All my regular power tools are Milwaukee but my yard power tools are EGO. The EGO multi- head system with the 20" hedge trimmer attachment angled at about 45 degree toward the ground would cut all that brush, grass trim bushes an cut low hanging tree limbs up to almost finger size in no time at all. It is a bit heavy but I put on a padded rifle sling that makes it bearable.

Ditch that 4 way blade and replace it with a 40-80 tooth carbide saw blade. You'll zip through those saplings/brush like butter.
Have you done this with the M18? Which blades did you use?
I have a Makita dual 18V strimmer. I like it, but on full whack, it lasts 12 minutes on 2 5AH batteries. On medium, about 20 minutes. I use it for garden maintenance around the fruit trees mainly. For the 32-acre fence lines in Ireland, we have this very heavy 'Swamp Grass,' which we call Rushes. We have some old professional Stihl F450 2-stroke brush cutters still running like new, and we definitely need those with a large shredding knife. It also depends on how bad I let the weed and swamp grass grow between cuts... But, working full-time as an IT consultant, I can be a bit lazy with such things. However, chainsawing moderate trees and limbs works really well with the dual 18V Makita chainsaw. Compared to petrol chainsaws, you cut out all the idling. I hardly take out my Stihl and Husky anymore for the type of cutting I do.

What’s good about these blades, as opposed to a string trimmer you don’t get much if any debris on you, it just lays tall stuff down which is great for thick and tall stuff.
Yeah, that's what annoyed me about weed eating. I was getting hit in the face with stuff, but I put a bladed trimmer head on my husky and never looked back.

Looks good for what you demonstrated. I bought an ECHO PAS because I wanted a brush cutter that would cut through heavy groth up to 2 inches in diameter. It doesnt slow down or even seen to notice 1 inch thick stuff unless you hit several at the same time. I have electric string trimmers that I use for some tasks and the PAS for longer times and heavier conditions. Both have their place. You should mention the recommended string thickness to help people figure out what it can do.
As a Milwaukee user I find this intriguing. What's holding me back is the expense of that huge battery, much more than my other M18's I use in the shop. So even for a dedicated Milwaukee user you don't get a big advantage from sticking with the same brand. Across the industry, battery life for these is the challenge. The other thing about these is the way you don't just swap the head when changing from string to blade. You're supposed to swap the guard as well, so not a quick change.

Closeups showing the trimmer in action would be helpful. Far away views aren't really useful. I'm just watching you trim. Is this battery or gas-powered? That would also be helpful to know.

For around your pond, you'd be better off with their attachment-capable version and then use the articulating hedge trimmer attachment. That will nicely lay the weeds down versus that trimmer head throwing all the shredded weeds into your water and feeding the algae. ;)
