I have a stihl 130 and just use the string and it will cut like crazy. I also have a stihl 91 and I bought a saw blade for it plus the 3 sided blade but I didn't think it was cutting very fast so back to the string. I did buy the echo quick loading string trimmer head which makes it load the string faster. When I lived in Florida I had a quarter sized field and bought the 130 because I couldn't see the ground at all and it was a good thing because I found a steel pipe sticking out of the ground with a log chain hooked to it. I was going to just mow it and take a chance. Where i live now in Missouri we have more property and the different pastures were very tall and the people before us had a tendency not to pick items up. I started off by using the trimmer and got down to just a 10x10 area and thought i would mow the rest with my zero turn mower and I hit barb wire. Of course it stopped the blades and they were twisted around the blades. What that did was tear up the crankshaft on the mower. I took it into the dealer and they machined a piece that fixed it but when I run the mower it has to be at full throttle otherwise I would have to have them put in a new crankshaft.
I have a couple of those i used a lot during initial cleanup of my land. They worked GREAT, however I HIGHLY recommend wearing thick leather chaps, and not jokingly if I had actually still had a cup from my martial arts days, I would have worn that. This thing threw up chunks right into my upper vulnerable areas enough times that I ended up with purple welts several times that hurt quite a bit. With that said, I ended up wearing my chainsaw chaps as an extra layer to my jeans, and while it still wasn’t comfortable, It took a lot of the hit out of any wood or rocks that it may grab and throw up. I also HIGHLY recommend a hard hat with a full mesh chain saw face shield just as he does in this video. Just my advice.
I've used that blade also. Works amazing for brambles, and vines. Like others have said though you really wanna wear all the protection you can put on. It definitely throws some mean debris back at ya. Also a higher cc trimmer really is better for running that weighty blade. Awesome job great video!
That blade is made to us with an up and down motion, not side to side. The up and down movement cuts brush, vines etc into smaller pieces that you dont need to clean up. Works amazing on blackberries here in the Pacific NW
i have one of these blades and love it, just use extreme caution because when you hit something like a rock, post or stump etc it sends it the blade back at your feet, it gives new meaning to kick back lol but it does a great job you can even mulch a sapling or brush by coming down it from the top
Great video, not only you review the product but also go through the install process along with a temporary fix for the flawed 1 inch spacer (clever)! Thank you Pete
I like that o-ring idea. I bought the 3-blade style from Oregon, the original designer of the mulching blades, and it's been fantastic. There are a lot of reviews of them from guys over in England, and seeing them chew through briars and brambles was good enough for me! Way better than trying to get into the thickets with a loppers and such!
Been using the Oregan mulching blade for a few years ,and they are fantastic! They do recommend that your trimmer us at least 30cc. I use them on my Husqvarna 535LK, and they amazing, they only cost about £12 in the UK!
My favorite blade. I sharpen the bottom and sides to tackle vines and saplings! Even swamp grass flies. Mine is black with more squareed off end blades. Love that I can cut a very long swath in one tank of gas!
That's a badass blade with enough engine behind it. Would be literally unstoppable. I just wish they had a 12" blade exactly like that but without the curved down winglets on the tips that could eat the ground when clearing brush and very tall and thick grass.
so the spacer that comes with the blade, what is it needed for? and it has to always used? thank you for showthing, i wasn't sure where i needed to put that on the blade :)
Haven’t seen this one before. Excellent review. Gotta get this one! Looks like it will do well with the brush I need to clear. Did subscribe and looking forward to more! 👍🏾
I bought a brush cutter attachment for my Echo PAS system. Then I bought another blade for it, which had a different size center hole. Both were Echo blades. I bought another blade adapter for the different size hole. Echo has adapters for both size holes (7/8" and 1", I think), and you wont need to rely on that reducer that comes with the Oregon blade, Of course, the rubber o-ring is cheaper. I just ordered one of these blades.
Dude, those privets are easily shaped into a hedge.. once you get it trimmed they are actually a great liner of the driveway, but when you let them go they go crazy.
What brushcutter are you using? Should be top end heavy duty, and I’m pretty sure you are using something lower down the stack? Likely break the brushcutter gearbox.
I have that stuff growing up thru my grapevine and googled how to kill it without harming the vine. Google says that even just the leaves can propagate and spread! I just try to keep it cut and burned now
I would have fabricated my own washer to the correct thickness . The rubber is going to over heat and fry under that much power propelling the blade . the rubber is dangerous .
Hi Hope you're doing well We have been working on high-quality boots for years and boots made from environment-friendly material are our priority. We are going to release an upgraded rubber boots. We think the waterproof & anti-slip boot will be a great helper for when you work outdoors.are you interested in testing boots? Thank you😊
Doesn't seem very effective vs a brush mowing attachment for a tractor.. obviously a tractor is way more expensive but this will take you all year at this rate.
Two words:
Brush. Hog.
Rubber washer improv for the win!
Nice use of the o ring. Good way of improvising to keep that little spacer in place.

What an useful video again, thank you Pete. That really looks a good work to deal with. Good luck with the fight with the bush 😂

Yes, a very good tool indeed. Move it up and down over the bushes and bruch, and you see a much better result.
gonna try the o ring on my, good tip! bend that cotter pin all the way over or its not gonna stay when you need it

As a Texan to a Texan - thank you!
I don't use the cotter pin! I instead use a lock nut, to simplify things...the cotter pin gets gnarled- every time!!

Hi what size cc machine is that ? Thanks 👍
@@leebennett3672 it's a 21 cc but I would use at least 21 cc or bigger.
Do they make an adapter for big stihl cutters?
Could it be used with an electric trimmer?
I think you better get a spacer/ring as thick as the blade maybe one tenth of a mm thinner.
Have you tried the circular saw-looking brush cutters?
Thanks for the video
What's the name of the blade?
There's a link in the description under the video. They call it a mulching blade.
Curious why they didn't make it just a straight out blade instead of being curved down
I assume you cannot use that blade with an electric weed wacker or can you?

Hedge trimmer is the perfect tool for this.
Yep good job
What hard hat is that
I have that stuff growing up thru my grapevine and googled how to kill it without harming the vine. Google says that even just the leaves can propagate and spread! I just try to keep it cut and burned now
Hi Pete, I may get one. Thanks, btw are you orig. from NJ?
I must be missing something. When I tighten down the nut, the entire spindle won’t move anymore.
@@bikerdude2941 There should be a spacer that slips over the shaft that keeps it from locking everything down.
Great video.
I get those big blades for 8$ if you buy in bulk of about 6
Dude, you need to rev that trimmer high so it can spin that heavier blade to cut that brush. Don’t baby the throttle!
Works good but slow time for round up
Cutting it will make it spread spray it while you can
Roundup is excellent for wrecking human health, messing with hormones, lowering testosterone & causing cancer. Not much else.
The 12 inch blade cuts 1 inch samplings like grass
Thanks
I would have fabricated my own washer to the correct thickness . The rubber is going to over heat and fry under that much power propelling the blade . the rubber is dangerous .
So... It would therefore be:"Righty loosy, Lefty tighty"?🤔
Placement of the gasket should be Under the cover !!!
Oh yeah, they should've made the washer about as thick as the blade....

Or Remedy. 😊
I would throw that thing in the drawer! I would use my large Battery powered Hedge trimmer to do the job!
When you get 20 years older you'll want to use a tractor or Dr field and brush mower...
I can't cut in that area with my tractor, the terrain will not allow it.
Not electric but battery
Doesn't seem very effective vs a brush mowing attachment for a tractor.. obviously a tractor is way more expensive but this will take you all year at this rate.
Watch out for them copperheads
They would be no match for this shredder!!
👍👍
Коз приведи и они всё сожрут. Зачем делать лишнюю работу
Forget the blades, and buy a hedge trimmer head!
