Who else came here because their coach won't fit through the front door and they needed to get it through the back sliding door
How big is your Coach?!
@@MFTusay Tell him to eat more salad
😂😂😂😭😭😭 it’s not even my couch. Or sliding door
Refrigerator but yea 🤣
Currently looking at my couch sit outside
Unlike a lot of the comments I read, I wasn't trying to get a couch in my house, I actually realized that the sliding door was installed inside out and I found this so helpful so that I can re-install it right side out.
Thank you Shannon for always explaining everything very clearly and calmly. I'm a regular DIYer / Handyman and can easily grasp the how to's of doing most things and when I can see it and simply understand it then I know I can do it even if I've never done it before, like replacing an entire Garage door, tracks and all. I of course learned it a got great confidence in my ability to do that job after watching you do it, so thank you very much for that, as well as many other projects. I know this patio door video is pretty old but my fixed door (not the sliding half) has that foggy condensation and staining in-between the glass and everyone (on youtube ) says it can't be fixed and you just have to replace the whole glass, so I'm thinking I might have to replace my whole door because I don't know how to remove the glass on a door like this. So I am watching this video in case I have to replace the door. What do you think? Thanks in advance. Keep up all the great work.
This is the best video on removing sliding glass doors, Its the only one that shows how to take the door out without removing the stationary one, and to pull it inside the house to work on replacing the rollers. Thank you so very much! Your camera guy is very steady and close up, really appreciated!!! I've watched a lot of them this is the best!!!
Like in the videos of This Old House where they skip some parts lmao
Only needed to see the first 5 mins, but was captivated and watched the whole thing.
The Canadian demeanor is just so lovely...at least from the accent he sounds Canadian…anyway, excellent clip! Right now, my sliding door feels super heavy, and not being that handy, I couldn’t figure out how to pop it out to clean the tracks (even though they look pretty dang clean, or whatever. I had no clue you could adjust the height of the hardware under the door.
This is going to be super helpful. I’ve got a weekend project that shouldn’t take much time at all. THANK YOU from Ohio.
Yes ,I am Canadian
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us! We're pretty clueless about DIY but we needed to remove the doors to move in a custom bench and we were having no luck, until we found you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I keep seeing your vids when I need help, might as well subscribe. This is probably the most common sliding door in the industry, the procedure is well explained as always, and no unnecessary reading ! There are a lot of videos for this job on YT...this one is at the top of the search results for a reason.
Thanks for the sub!
Been trying to get my door off the frame for days. Luckily I found your video. Who knew those screws lowered the door... did the trick right away
I need to remove mine because the wood underneath has totally rotted. Thought it looked impossible but after watching this i can give it a shot. Thanks for the help
Thanks, man! One of my rollers came loose, and I was removing every possible wrong screw trying to get to it until I clicked on this video. The first three minutes of this video set me straight, and the job is now done.

Very helpful. I need to remove the panels from my sliding door in order to move a large piece of furniture into a room. This video makes it look easy.
Thank You So Much for showing me how to take off the sliding door. I need to fix the weatherstripping on it. Appreciate you for this video!!
Your instruction and filming made it very clear for us to understand how to do this. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Thanks for watching!
This video was a lifesaver! My friend moved into a new apartment and when the movers couldn’t figure out how to get her couch inside I came here to find out how to remove the sliding glass door. In less than 30 minutes it was off, the couch was in, and the door was back on. Thank you so much for making this easy to understand!!
This is the perfect instructional video for me. I have to replace the fixed side of our patio, this makes it so easy to understand. Thank You!
Glad to help
I know this is an old vid now but you have a nice camera person. They're smooth in zooming & panning, and kind of know when to show the detail with a tight shot.
great video. I'm getting ready to remove my sliding door and install a door and window. This video is a big help.
Great video. Now I know what to look for when removing my sliding door. I so hate them and do not want another in it's place. May have to, but thinking of a single door on one side and framing in the other side with a window. Thanks.
The guys' a legend. Always so helpful
My door had just dropped but watched it all nice to watch someone else working 😜
Great video. I want to take out a patio door and I was wondering how it was attached to the house. I did't think about the outer flange.
Thanks for showing me. I gave you a thumbs and subscribed.......

Thanks for sharing. Your video is very detailed and thanks for showing how to get rid of the nails in a easy way.
The bottom channel of the sliding door track traps water and dirty. No way i can clean it. Is it good i can take the active pane off and clean it?
Thanks Shannon...excellent video ...much obliged for the time you took for making this video....Cheers !
16:04 That face you make when you remember the thing you are prying on the bottom of is no longer attached at the top. LOL
Great job explaining the steps Sir..
Thank you for this video I need to remove a door temporally to move something.
Thank you !!
My moms door busted Bc of the heat & glass company sent us a free one, but wanted $350 to install it
Just noticed this was from 5 1/2 years ago. It's funny how we can put something out there...it may seem like no one notices or cares--and then BOOM! exactly what I needed and love it--what you did that long ago touched me and my life because you put it out there. that's what I tell the folks in the ministry---it may be ages before someone notices a seed that we put out...but eventually--someone does notice. What they do with it is their choice--but they do something with it. This just proves this.

Thank you ever so much, will be doing a pair in the morning.

7 years later, this video got my new fridge inside my house! Thanks Shannon!
Great presentation, clear instruction. Many thanks.
Great demonstration and explanation! Thank you
thank you for your video. Professional like you make it look easy.
thanks
I only really needed the first 5 minutes of this video to accomplish my particular project, but I watched the whole thing because it was so well done, thank you!
You put up
Great 👍 detailed videos keep up the good work. And the videos too.
Thanks dude! My dad was about to break the door and I recommended watching a UA-cam video first lol. Patience is a virtue 😂
One of the best done "How To" videos I have ever watched. Well spoken, good info, good camera work!! Thanks!
This person videos are all excellent. Good job. Thanks!

I think am ready.... great video 🔥🔥
Thank you for making this 🙏🏻
We had to remove our sliding door to bring in a large sofa. We had never removed a sliding door before. This video made the job easy and prevented any damage by our inexperience. Thanks, Shannon!
Great video and even better first name!
I like your first name as well!
Is that siding made out of cardboard?
This guy helped on out on so many projects. He needs his own show on HGTV...
awesome vid man. now im gonna try to remove my sliding door so i can put my big ass sofa inside my house coz it wont fit in my door.
good luck
Thanks for sharing the idea of drilling the nail heads.
I lowered my track wheels down and tried to lift it out and the right side barely cleared and the left side won’t clear the vinyl track edge it sits in. Either there’s a bow in the threshold track or the roller wheel is not dropping all the way. May try again but it’s def not clearing to pull the door sash out
Oh man, you told me exactly what I needed to do to fix my door that wouldn't slide. I didn't know those holes were there to adjust the sliding hardware. Raised my hardware, slides like a charm again. Thanks!
Mine didn't come out still, it's seems caught on something while I try to pull out the first door after adjusting, any advice ?
installing new sliding doors is always good, but I want to share with you my experience, I live in Orlando Florida, I contacted the Masterslide company with the problem of my sliding doors (if you ask, I will share the contacts) they replaced the rollers, installed a track cover and a new handle with a lock. Now my door is like new and I'm as happy as a child! And most importantly, I thought that I saved more than two thousand dollars! Just because repairs are cheaper!))) so think before ordering new ones. This is not advertising, this is my case.
Thank you!
Bro, how do you remove the fixed door panel on a 1995 aluminum door, ? Its like im missing screws. Gotta replace the rollers and can't get the door off the track
Good video, thank you for posting.
Concise and easy instructional. Thank you, Shannon. For someone like myself, who really has little, if any, experience in home improvement projects, these instructionals help ease a lot of worry and answer many questions that I would otherwise overthink.
Hi Shannon, a quick message to THANK YOU very much for all of your great videos. Clear instructions, detailed explanations and great topics. You're a bloody legend mate!
What should I do at the bottom if there's concrete instead of wood? Should I install the new frame and just spray foam caulk the bottom and seal it with some silicone?
yes.
Thank you so much
Thank you
My Anderson slider wont come off this way. Instead there is guide rail at the top that extends the entire length and its held in by screws that need to be removed. Once the screws are removed and the guide rail is out, you can tilt the top of the door inwards and then lift the entire door up and out.. Be careful though, once the top guide rail is out, the door can fall out..
Thanks for the guide, man!
Superb thanks mate
I’m gonna try this in the morning. Got a double side fridge it’s not gonna fit in my house.
brilliant ...Thanks
Great video and very helpful.
another great vid. thanks much, very very helpful
At the bottom of the sliding door there's two set of screws each end which one is to lower the wheels to lift the door out.
+Eileen Stephens One of those screws will be the adjustment screw and the other might be holding the frame together, i'm not sure which will be which. Give one a 1/2 turn and see if the door moves.
Thanks. Okay so now I have another problem. My glass patio door will not completely close how do I fix this problem.
thanks man! Very helpful video
Thank you
Very helpful 👍
thank you!!!
I want to install a security film on my sliding glass doors. The film manufactures recommends the film edges be under the inside casing. Do these doors have a removable inside casing that is easy pop out and put back?
vinyl doors may have a remove bale stop, depends on manufacture.
Great video Shannon! Just what i was looking for. When i read your profile, it says yur from Sk.....dam i think i should know you, im from Carnduff😳
I'm about 3 hrs NW of you.
Thanks for great info
Gave it a thumbs up, very good vid. Thanks!
Yes I do it thanks bro
I fell on the floor some years ago and was unable to get up and spent 10 hours on the floor going in and out of consciousness. I was in acute kidney failure. My son in another state had called the police to make a check when he could not get in touch with me. The police came they took the sliding door apart to come in. I am not sure how they did it though. It looks like quite a bit of work! After 1 week in hospital & 3 weeks in a rehabilitation I came home. I’m fine thanks to the police!
That was a wonderful demonstration! I have a fridge being delivered tomorrow and you just demonstrated precisely what I needed to know to bring it into the house and more. I now feel confident I can replace the sliding glass door. Super cool! Thank you!
Can the tracks be removed and fixed. I have a sliding door and it's getting so hard to open and looks just like this
You likely need new rollers in the door.
My door definitely does not clear the bottom groove and I can’t get it out. I’ve loosened 3 different screws
Same, I lowered all the rollers as far as I can and the door is still a few mm short of being able to clear the bottom groove
Thanks!
Thank you for the donation!
thank you!
how do you replace broken glass?
Thanks for the great video! So much easier than what I was thinking. Now I can get that giant couch out of the house!
I need to get my giant couch in my apartment I hope this works
@@emilianna1849 were you able to put the doors back in place easily? I also have a large soda I'm trying to fit inside
Thank you for this detailed video! I am now ready to remove my old sliding door! I plan to replace it with a new sliding door. Do you have a video on installing a new one?
do sliding doors from the 90s typically have the exterior part you did around 9 minutes 30 seconds
Yes many will have a nailing fin behind the exterior finish but not all do.
Great help thanks.
Question: my fixed panel wasn't sitting on top of anything so I couldn't slide it over and just pop it out. How do I get it out?
Thanks for this! I’m getting ready to move a large couch into my living room and we’ve been racking our brain trying to figure out how to get it in.
Did exactly what you had done on your video & there isn’t room to lift the door & pull it forward on the bottom track. Any help????
I can help u
Great video! I am buying a house that will need this done. Your video showed me just how to go about it. Thanks.
Shannon, I have been sizing up my 30 year old "Great Lakes" Patio door for some time knowing it is time to replace the wheel sets. I see no removal panels etc.. Only an idiot would not think of raising the wheels to remove the door. Meet the idiot!! I watched a Great Lakes video and it shows the door having (According to them), a "Tank Style Thread Set." That is what I see from looking under the door and wondered what it was!!
Sorry but I have no idea.
Thank you, needed to know how to remove the sliding screens and doors to allow big purchase items go through it vs the main doors.
And was it easy, I fear I may have to do thios tomorrow..
@@Ctrl-Alt-Elite how did it go? I might just have to do it my self too
@@sergioranirez2379 I took feet off furniture and saved myself from wrecking patio doors
I am sooooooooooooo glad I stumbled upon this video !!! My wife has wanted me to clean the fixed panel (door) frame for years and so I removed all the screws I THOUGHT were holding it in but I couldn't get it to move. So after watching your video I am going to remove the sliding door and then clean the stationary one. A total new perspective/approach to the problem.
hi shannon you videos are great. please answer me this question.¿ which brands of windows are the most common for install, in United states? thanks
nope. wont work. i have a stubborn old brown, glass sliding glass door. wheels worn to nothing, adjustment screws rusted and stripped. needs to come off. hoping i dont need to cut rail and replace it. thnx anyway.
Had to move a 300gal stock pond into the basement for my dwarf caiman and it wouldn't fit through the sliding doors. Your video helped tremendously!
What if the door is stuck and you can't get it out/ Is it because of the weather or?
looks like the guy dave from the gold rush tv show! awesome video thanks for sharing
I appreciate how detailed you are
Thank you very much for this video! Very helpful. Well done!
love all your videos..you have helped me so much with alot of my diy home renovations..keep up the great work
Great video! I'm doing the exact same project with my new house (glass door removal, french door install). Thanks!
