    I was lucky enough to get mine today and I have to say... the noise that the car makes is just out of this world. You can barely hear it here... the video falls flat by a long shot. Also, this car is extremely drivable when it comes down to "every day use". All the electronics work (which is a first for me. My 599 can't even handle my iPod 90% of the time). This is just tremendously ridiculously awesome! Ferrari KILLED IT!

    The huracan, all the mclaren cars, porsche 911 turbo s, etc... are indeed faster and have better performances than the 458, but in terms of fun, the 458 wins.

      I couldn’t agree more. As a VWG fan, I always thought and think Porsche has the best tech in the world and as a person who owns a Panamera 971 4S and failed to persuade his father not to buy the 458 and instead go for the Huracan cos it’s faster (Nür Nordschlife Laptime - altho that’s the Performante) but now I finally get y people say ‘Ferraris Ferraris’ and y Ferrari ppl say ‘458s 458s’

    S2000 had a 2.0 with 120 hp / l, for the American market had a 2.2 with 107 hp / l. A great engine, really, but motorcycle-type and lack of torque, to do a drift on a hairpin bend you had to put on first gear. Ferrari have pulled out 127 hp / liter from a V8 4.5L Euro 5 compliance regulations, but not only this, it has a record of specific torque 120 Nm / l, has the same torque of 5.2l Lamborghini but the Ferrari pulls out 540N/m from a 4.5L

    theres an interesting fact about ferraris and how we perceive them.
    When the 360 debuted obviously it was hot, another dream car per say but looking at it now it really wasnt such a great looking car. sure in comparison to most other makes/models at the time but theres something a bit wrong about it.
    Whats funny is how the new 458 already looks a bit 'drab' like something is missing. its front lid is dry and a bit boaring, i wonder how long its looks will hold out. IMO not very long.

    @kakakourada The 355? Are you serious? The thing that looks like a crappier, cheaper 512 TR? That car is a joke. It's like Ferrari took advice from the one guy in the world who saw the 512 TR and said "It should be smaller, uglier and less interesting". I sell Ferraris and our dealership has 4 cars in a special display area all in Rosso Corsa: Enzo, F50, F40, 288 GTO. Those are real modern Ferraris.

    its engine,it was almost as nice as my Dakota.

    @PoorBoy1979 I dont compare a wall-mart cart to a Corvette! Im trying to make him understand that you cant say anything about the gearbox if you dont use the same car as a standpoint. But for you, ill try to make it more understandable. Here it comes: You cant compare a Ferrari F430 F1 with a BMW M5 if you want to illustate how big of a difference the F1 gearbox are performacewise compared to a manual. Cause the cars basic performance needs to be the same. (F430 vs F430 F1) get it?

  • @karjohden
    @karjohden 14 років тому

    @halim181276 just a little diffrent approach to the F1 gearbox.. In your world (that lasts 402 m) there is not that big of a difference.. In 12 s you change gears 2 times.. In a race, you change gears 100:eds of times.. Thats when the F1 gearbox truly delivers.. If you gain 0,02 sec every gearchange... you do the math.. and also, you cant misshift.. There is a reason theye use paddles in F1 you know :-)

  • @laxbro000

    @HD2009Muscle its all your taste. If you want a car with passion and looks that you can stare at and not care about driving, buy a ferrari. If you want a legend, an icon, that has been refined over the past 4 and a half decades, buy a Porsche. I know someone who owns both a 911 Turbo and a Ferrari F430. He said the ferrari looks great, but it just doesn't compare with how the Turbo drives. I'm just saying bro you spend your money on a car to drive it, not stare at it.

  • @Aure9000
    @Aure9000 14 років тому

    @praftman dud bugati have a long racing heritage, Ferrari can make engine that rev at 19000rpm and race cars that could be driven up side down at 60mph. Also a W16 8liter quad turbo motor is not that special, a 458 motor is way more advance 126hp per liter and 88lbs/ft TQ per liter with out turbo for the street is way more advance in technology then anyone, for example a ENZO with that kind of technology would get over 750hp and over 500lbs/TQ Ferrari already have the capability to do it, in 2

  • @praftman
    @praftman 14 років тому

    (continued 2) ... It's literally like a sprinter not only won Olympic Gold, but did it wearing his most comfortable jeans and a drink in his hand. So what would you rather drive off-track? How about on track (where it wins everytime)? It literally is the best of both worlds, and if ever they build a stripped-down Veyron it'll beat Ferraris efforts all-over-again (that is, if Ferrari ever catches up to this one). Lastly: how much straight-away do you think a sub-2.5 sec 0-60 car needs?

  • @praftman
    @praftman 14 років тому

    (continued) Let me be clearer: The Veyron has sound and weather-insulation (both world-class while the Enzo has literally none--don't drive it in the hear or cold), it also has climate-control (Enzo took that out) a $35k stereo (Enzo doesn't even have a radio) leather and gilt on every surface, adjustable and heated seats, full instrument cluster, navigation, bluetooth, iPod interface, back-up camera, parking sensors and moon roof. It's unheard-of: it performs w/o shedding weight.

  • @praftman
    @praftman 14 років тому

    @madmanjoe Look the specs up again: Ferrari's ultimate effort-to-date (your Enzo) is outmatched in virtually every measure of performance by the Veyron. It's also bested in real world track-tests (including the Top Gear track, which is essentially all-turns having only a single clipped-short straight-away). It does this weighing over 1,100 lbs. more (largely due to an extravagant interior to match any Rolls whereas the Enzo's is literally bested by a Corolla: no carpets and roll-up windows).

  • @praftman
    @praftman 14 років тому

    @Aure9000 Uhhhh. Bugati? Seriously, they made a car that outmatches any supercar ever made, and did it w/o that being their forte. This fact embarrasses Ferrari as much as the McLaren F1 (of which the same could be said for greater than a decade and a half before finally Bugatti--again not Ferrari--bested them) Ferrari may finally, with this car, have just caught up to what McLaren did back in the early nineties.

  • @Aure9000
    @Aure9000 14 років тому

    Can't wait for next Enzo aka f70 imagine a 6 liter v12 that rev at 9000rpm and make 126hp per liter and 88lbs/tq per liter like the 458, it would get over 750Hp and over 500lbs/tq with out turbos or blower and smoke anything, Ferrari have that kind of technology allrady imagine that with 2 more years of research. No other car maker can kep up with Ferrari technology other then McLaren.

    Where is the flag ship of ferrari in this car? where is the twin rear lights that makes you point and yell "FERRARI!!" when you see one? the rear end just does not look like it came from ferrari and there trying to push ferrari in a new direction, but what for? if its works for so many years why change it?

  • @HamannRuski
    @HamannRuski 14 років тому

    @halim181276 ...continued I own a 965 turbo 3.6 with RUF engine tuning. BUT.... that fucking ferrari is SO much better looking. And the reason your ultima costs 50k (other than the fact that there is nothing but an engine, transmission?) is beacuse i like anyone else reading these posts has never heard of the shit! Ferrari are epic designer and manufacturers, that put the finest detail in elegance, and the cutting edge in engineering. they balance sparcity with functionality (unlike the gtr)....

    this one is a bit of twist for ferrari.
    Its sorta like a mustang in that its a look that grows on you over time. ever had the experience of seeing an roughly ugly/average chick looking better and better the more you pay attention?
    Think ugly betty, or Michelle rodrigeuz (fast and furious) this 458 is a special car but once again, ferrari is cattering only to itty pitty small people. so people of normal size must opt for something like a corvette which IS a great car.

  • @Aure9000
    @Aure9000 14 років тому

    @sw1000xg. The reason why the 458 is way faster then GTR is because: power to weight ratio and, actual amount of power deliverd at wheels for example the powertrain loss for a GTR is in the 15+%( because it has a AWD system it is call rotation mass). A 458 powertrain loss is more like lower then 10% as it as less drivetrain rotation( 2 rear wheel drive and engine in back)the engine as less tq but the hole car as more tq them GTR.

    Gee, thanks for taking Jeremy Clarkson's opinions and playing them off as your own. Fact is, Top Gear is a great show to watch for entertainment but it's not where you'd go for car buying advice.
    If you don't like 5 different traction control settings, then ignore the switch. Leave it in sport.
    FWIW, I don't even know why I'm saying this to you. Not like you'll ever come close to being able to afford one of these.

  • @alruin4531
    @alruin4531 14 років тому

    well i would say before you buy this that its about as wide as a transit van so you cant drive that fast on a narrow road with traffic. but some people drive a van to work so thats not too bad. than theres the problem of jealous people spitting on and pissing against your car when you park it somewhere out of sight. provided you actually managed to park it without scratching. then after some years it loses half its worth

  • @karjohden
    @karjohden 14 років тому

    Ofcourse you can compete with a Ferrari if you tune a cheap car. To sad you cant see the difference between a Ferrari and a car.. Its not all about the performance. When you talk about cars like this, you need to use words as: art, emotions, love, passion. If you seriously compare tuned cars too this; please; find something else to do with your time. I feel sick when i read shit like this. Hope you dont feel offended, but i just feel that i need to explain what seperates a car from a Ferrari...

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    it's a recession u know. :P...., so every euro/dollar/yen/usw counts; so, if the new car reveals to be as fast as the old car, with the old car being still in production/on stock and also, the old car costing more then the new one....it's a pure lose-lose situation(cars on stock and loss of money); i belive that this is the reason for which the 458 is "not as fast" as the scuderia on fiorano; eaven if it would be, i'll still have the scuderia instead of the 458 anytime..

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    coming back to the facts...., 458 is a road car, with the accent on the road; for what it is..., currently, i think is the most tech advanced car..the way it's blending pure performance with day-to-day drivability; regarding the times on fiorano..., i sincerly belive it is as fast as the scuderia on the track..., but ferrari won't acknowlodge that beacuse scuderia can still be orderd..needless to say.., scuderia is more expensive then the 458, so i think that they don't want to lose any money.

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    omg guys...ur losing it.., stay with the facts !!; ok.., so ultima gtr(on slicks or not, with more power then usual or not) beat by a second the fxx..!!, so what..fxx is not a road car and probably, as i tryed to explain beneath, ultima gtr is not a car that u wana be on a road; also, top gear test track is not the holy grail of tracks..., is just another test track...maybe is better suited for the gtr and no so better suited for the fxx...on some other track, things may look diffrent

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    they say that 458 is as fast as the scuderia at fiorano, if it's true, that is progress trough technology; if i may suggest u one thing..: search on utube "GRIP 459 italia", it's a clip that rly impressed me...and somehow changed my mind a little about 458; the test-driver is rly hammering on a rly bumpy road and the car is remaning remarkably composed !!, i never saw another sports car on such roads behaving like that; auto-journalists(after testing it) say that is the fastest thing from A to B

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    ...**, like the other "mass-production" supercars makers, cand provide that.
    No matter how fast an ultima gtr is around a track, it probably can't do the "comfort"-part; because R&D money for such cars as the 458 is huge...and a small shed-based manufacturer doesn't have that kind of money!; i think that guy that u r arguing here probably is thinking the same thing.....: regardeless how fast is an ultima gtr..., ferrari is still the better car!(my opinion also)

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    ferrari used to focus on racing...but these days..they aren't to many gt series in which to compete; so, atm, the produce cars that are imensly fast but also day-to-day drivable; the same is with the other manufacturers; the thing is, when u don't have 150 into a wide right-hander..u want some "comfort" into ur mid-engine supercar, aka, a radio that works, a/c, a good ride quality not to break ur spine, an engine that is not planning to deaf u...and ferrari....**

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    god of all cars..?, hehehehehe..., not likely; still, if such a car/brand would exist..., probably would have a name "like" pagani zonda..:D
    again, i think is not a v good comparation btw ultima gtr and any ferrari(or porsche, lembo, usw)..because the limit of it's abilities it's very narrow..., by comparison, ferrari's, lambo's and all the others in this category have a much-much wider spectrum of abilities; ad the money into discussion...and, clearly, i'll take the gtr(nissan's) in a second..

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    think at this, do u see urself making a road-trip across europe inside a ultima gtr or, inside of a ferrari or lambo, usw ??!; another thing, do u rly think that ferrari couldn't make a car with big supercharged engine and a big wing on it's back ?, well, i think they can do it, but they don't want to !, and why should they ?, when they have a diff set of values from any other car maker, when they have such a history; if, by chance, they make such a car, it simply couldn't be called a ferrari !!

  • @Aure9000
    @Aure9000 14 років тому

    Enzo Ferrari said built less then what you can sale. Dealers do marke up in the USA that is a fact. The only one reporting loss are dealers not Ferrari. Ferrari make as dealer and pepeol order. Again Ferrari dealer call Ferrari and said I need 10 cars Ferrari said ok it's going to coast you 1 milion then the dealer need to make profit so they sale them at MSRP and most of time marke up price.

  • @bartnoel

    458 Italy now is the definitive sports car. It is not just performance, or high-technology infused in this car, it's a question of charisma, emotion, adrenaline, excitement, history, blazon, style, sound, feeling with the steering. And this machine embodies all these elements. But the beauty of this car is his versatility, thanks to manettino and magnetorheological suspensions you can have the comfort of a grand tourer in bumpy road or switch to a set-up for the track without electronic aids.

  • @eugenux
    @eugenux 14 років тому

    ur mistaken about the brawn gp, they had 120 mil euros from honda;
    again...ultima gtr and the gt-r doesn't slap anyone...ultima is just a big(non tech) engine on a pretty good chassis and the gt-r is (almost) a 2 tone bullet with a torque vectoring system and a rly bad transmision!;
    e-diff and the f1 trac r miles away from what other's have.(let's not forget that v8)
    don't get me wrong..i'm not a ferrari fan(the only ferrari i like is the scuderia)..but the truth is this: ferrari = technology !!

  • @Aure9000
    @Aure9000 14 років тому

    First, the GTR weigh 515lbs more then the 458. Secound the 458 will smoke the GTR in a straight from any starting speed that is a fact. Then there is the fact that it as not been compare at any track yet with a GTR you are talking out of your ass my friend. Also the scuderia as smoke the GTR in many tracks and it as a less power to weigh ratio then a 458 both share same technology but it is more advence for 458.

  • @nklprsd1
    @nklprsd1 14 років тому

    And to all u guys talking about technology...every company is very secretive about its technology..no one is gonna release it out..the technology that we see in a car is just..what the company wants us to see..they maybe way ahead of what ne of us can even imagine..so there is no point talking about or comparing technologies..when we ourselves dont know..wht these companies are capable of...

  • @nklprsd1
    @nklprsd1 14 років тому

    As I said my friend..u are just talking about one car by Nissan ..the GTR ..is there any other car...which u can talk about by Nissan? There are many cars rolled out by Ferrari..which can beat the shit out of the Nissan GTR..just because u dislike Ferrari and u found out somewhere that the GTR performed better on track than the F430 Scuderia..doesnt..do nething..the fact of the matter is that a ferrari lover will always love a ferrari..

  • @nklprsd1
    @nklprsd1 14 років тому

    I dont know about how advanced the technology is....every company has its own style of doing things..and every company has its own technology..u just cant really compare..and every technology has its specific advantages and disadvantages..as far as i know..Ferrari has one of the best factories in the world..it was even covered by Nat Geo..if am not wrong..u might be able to find the documentary online..and oh..yeah..am a ferrari fan aka horse prayer if thats wht u call

  • @nklprsd1
    @nklprsd1 14 років тому

    And besides as u are saying the GTR just costs $80k....then every god dam person who has a little more than that as savings could buy it..it wouldn't distinguish u from the rest...the ferrari is a class apart...a person who owns a ferrari belongs to a different league altogether...and how the hell does one sec matter u are anyways not going to drive at such speeds on the main roads...Ferrari commands a respect which a GTR can't ..get that straight

    The modular chassis is an all-new design. New alloys join the traditional aluminium, along with high-resistance aluminium extrusions, developed by the aerospace industry, and innovative manufacturing processes, such as heat-forming. The aim was to keep weight down to the benefit of performance and handling. The result is a chassis with improved structural rigidity, with torsional rigidity up 15 per cent compared to the F430, and beam stiffness up 5 per cent.

    Technical development of the cars shaped started using CFD (Computational Fluid-Dynamic) techniques which helped optimise the management and interaction of the internal flows prior to wind tunnel testing. The final solution chosen ensured adequate cooling to the running gear, while, at the same time, achieving a high level of aerodynamic efficiency (1.09) through excellent drag and downforce figures (Cd 0.33 and Cl 0.36 respectively), no less than 360 kg of downforce at top speed.

    The 458 Italia is standard equipped with the best Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes: 6-pot aluminium callipers with 398 x 223 x 36 mm discs at the front, and 4-pot aluminium callipers with 360 x 233 x 32 mm discs at the rear. The 458 Italia boasts outstanding braking distances thanks to the development and optimisation of Bosch control logic and Ferraris Pre-Fillogic, which reduces response times by activating the pistons in the callipers.

    On the 458 Italia the E-Diff 3 and F1-Trac control software are integrated in the same ECU. This minimises communication times between the two systems.
    Compared to previous versions, E-Diff 3 delivers improved torque distribution coming out of corners, which translates into improved grip, better roadholding and more progressive handling on the limit. The result is an improvement of 32 percent in longitudinal acceleration out of corners compared to previous models

    The 458 Italia also features the latest, second-generation Magnetorheological Suspension Control shock absorber system. Compared to the system first introduced on the 599 GTB Fiorano, SCM2 boasts an evolved ECU (-50 per cent input time) and a damper force generation time of 8 ms compared to the 599s 15 ms. There is also a new piston rod bushing in the damper which reduces internal friction (-35 per cent) for more precise small-bump control and improved ride comfort.

    The 458 Italias front suspension employs a novel new double wishbone set-up which features an L-shape design for the lower wishbone. Thanks to the new rear multi-link suspension overall vertical rigidity has thus been improved (+35 per cent with respect to the F430) for less body roll, and the engineers were able to introduce a more direct steering ratio (11.9° compared to the F430s 16.9°) which makes for quicker and more responsive steering on both road and track.

    A good manual transmission is faster than an automatic transmission in a track, but is slower than a sequential, not to mention the double clutch.
    The gear shifting time is zero and thus there is no interruption of engine torque to the driven wheels. Compared to the California gearbox, response times have been reduced and the 458 Italy has specific, sportier gear ratios to match the power and torque curves of the new V8, guaranteeing high torque even at lower revs.

    I see that the most critical of the absence of a manual gearbox are American users, it's funny because almost all the cars sold in America are with the automatic transmission. But the 458 is not a muscle car, it's a Ferrari, and Ferrari is the company that invented and introduced the first electronic paddle shift gearbox in F1, and of subsequent in series production, becoming an icon Ferrari, partly because over 90% of customers wants it.

    Looks like my little comments got under your skin as intended.
    I never said the car sucked, it is a good looking car but those gimmicks are really geared toward those who want less involvement in its function.
    I agree it has artistic value but if you are looking for engineering look into what Porsche makes. Ferrari's still have component reliability problems to this very day.
    Glad to see you are wising up.

    @MyHomie so you are saying more plastic, more automation and less craftsmanship is better?
    The best things in the world from watches, paintings, sculptures and cars are made by hand. The best wine is in a corked bottle not in cartons, yes corks have been around for centuries
    Someday when you get smarter you will understand that newer is not always better. The Mona Lisa is hundreds of years old and will always be worth more than anything made by a computer or machine.

    @uteropo. Formula One cars use semi-automatic sequential gearboxes with seven forward gears and one reverse gear. The driver initiates gear changes using paddles mounted on the back of the steering wheel and electro-hydraulics perform the actual change as well as throttle control. Clutch control is also performed electro-hydraulically except from and to a standstill when the driver must operate the clutch using a lever mounted on the back of the steering wheel.

    In some of these shots, the car looks painfully pretty! - Wow, Ferrari, have at last made a stunning looking 'lower end' model! The 430 looked pretty tasteless and the 360 looks dated already. This is the first Ferrari since the 328/355 that actually looks like a Ferrari should. The only glitch has been the Enzo, which in my eyes, will never look dated and is a stunning looking thing.

    Sad! No gated shifter, tons of gimmicks and they compare it to a Mercedes at the end.
    Even worse, a solid body design, screwed up by the trendy headlights and starship enterprise interior.
    Even worse still, Ferrari has succumbed to the "plush demographic" of buyers.
    I cannot wait till they make a stripped down version of this. Hopefully it will have some semblance of the legendary F40.

    Ferrari has done it. Another company who has given up on the manual transmission. Even Corvette has improve there 6 speed manual. and gives options to the man/woman who loves rowing the gears themselves, the feel of the clutch.
    Yes they will sell alot of these 458 italia, plzzz don't forget the older folks who can actually afford the car who grow up driving a manual. Ysa i know there are a lot of younger ppl with money too, I just can't believe they don't want a manual nether.

    Of course a Viper Fan would say it's ugly! lol. The 458 is a beautiful car. Awesome performance, some of the best auto technology ever put in a street car. Viper's are crude and very cheap looking interior. The Ferrari is a car with the driver in mind. The Viper is a car with the motor in mind. Funny thing though, the 458 motor is nearly half the size 4.5L vs 8.4L and produces nearly the same HP 560 vs 600. Better balance, fluid dynamics...Viper not in the same league.

    Yes Ferrari make perfect engines, they cost a lot for Ferrari, but Ferrari know's that, if they will make better, even very expensive engine Ferrari will take it back twice, because Ferrari's clients don't care about the price, they need perfection., power, reliability. Other car companies can bankrupt making engines perfect, but pricy. Because their customers first look at the price tag.

    Ferraris has been getting 118hp per liter since 1995. Hondas in japan use different fuel therefor different tuning so 458 in japan get more then 126.667hp per liter. Also Honda use a inline 4 cylender motor witch is easy to rev at high rpm and get 120hp per liter. The cam gear are aligne with crankshaft easy to get right timing

    @realMFCKNG91 Maybe from 0. but i don't think the gtr can keep up on a rollout, + ferrari has a higher top speed and I've been on both and would get the ferrari anyway. gtr's interior is too "Nissan" for a supercar. but of course you can't get everything for half the price. gtr is an amazing car but the ferrari is still even a better one

    @ffrank345 autos are for men with lots of power. why have a manual? cos you have no torque and need to change gears all the time and get your multiples up. Same gos for losers with 6 speeds. Get a powerful engine and a powerglide peoples, and you will be tougher than a man with a ferrari and a (wo)manual.

    The 911 Turbo is considerably heavier and has less power. The only reason it is faster from 0-60 is the all wheel drive and the weight over the rear wheels.
    The GT2 RS is probably a tiny bit faster round a track (same weight but 50hp more) but I bet the Ferrari is the much better road car.
    I wonder if Ferrari is going to make a lightweight track version of the 458.

    Enzo, Zonda, Koenigsegg CCX are hyper car, 458 and Gallarlo are supercar.
    Sorry troll, but the entry level Ferrari rape left and right the most powerfull car availabe by porsche, and not only in terms of performance.
    R8 is not received
    In accelaration 0-1000m the 458 lose only 0.2" from the best performance of the Enzo
