Depends on the structure you’re looking to fish. For tight structure with many potential snags, you’ll want to fish slightly heavier in both. A 4000 size reel with plenty of drag pressure (10kg+) and a rod around the 5-9, 6-10kg range with a heavy action. You need to turn the head of the fish to get it out of the structure. 30-50lb fluorocarbon leader to cope with the abrasion of said structure. Many Gold Coast lakes hold mangrove jack, but you can afford to fish lighter (2500-3000 reel) given the relative lack of structure. That being said, they always have somewhere to hide.
