Drew: "No fishing? Under what legislation?" Secco: "Mate, I don't know. I don't have the paperwork..." Drew: "It probably would be handy to know" Ahahahahahaha my sides!
Great vid mate, epic camera work at the start. It would be a laugh to print off the relevant legislation with the relevant bits highlighted so you could just hand it to them with a big "fuck you" grin....
Love the vids Drew. Really glad a mate gave me the tip about them as my Mum lives in Golden Beach and we fish together regularly. Quick question - would the view from your chest mounted Go Pro be enhanced if you mounted it on top of your head? When you cast your left arm obscures the view and we miss a lot of potential action from when the lure hits the water to hook up. There is probably a really good reason for the way you do it and happy to learn about your process. Keep 'em coming!
Constructive video suggestion: you show a lot of casts, which is cool. Every time you do, I want to see it hit the water, but your arm is in the way or you quick cut away. It's precision casting and should be shared!
Ya gotta feel a tad sorry for the security guards. Some miserable resident has obviously called them and they are obligated to respond. Although, they were hopelessly under prepared. Hahaha. Can’t believe how calm you remained. Nice job. -Mikey 🤠👍🏻🎣🍺🇦🇺
Hi mate, does the wind have a bearing on the bite or is it just a pain for the video and the casting, live in Raby and still learning about canal fishing , been a little slow in our canals hoping the warm water turns things on , will try the #jackoff19 in my system as well ha ha thanks legend👍👍
Hey mate, wind affects bream in the canals for sure. They need that little bit of ripple on the water to have the confidence to really come out and hit a surface lure or crankbait. Those canals you're on are particularly tough for bream..very clear. I've done the best in there first two hours of the morning. Once that sun gets high it seems to shut them down abit. I don't think the jacks care about the wind but they follow the bait so generally of the wind is blowing down into the end of the canal it's a good spot for bait to hold.
It's hard to take the threats of those "security" guys seriously, wearing knee length sky blue socks and Bermuda shorts. There has to be a comedy sketch in there somewhere - mind you, it would struggle to be as funny as the real dialogue you have with them, mate. Your comedic timing is perfect!
Great vid by the way and you conducted yourself in a manner that helps us all. Ive had boats try to run me over while kayak fishing and people throw sinkers from their pontoons lol and their always aggresive not like most of us fisherman
As fishermen you want to tell them to people to get fucked but as the people we are (no that small minority that ruins it for us) we have to sometimes swallow our pride and go on. Great video mate
Richard Anderson Yeah. I was impressed with that little bit of drone work. It seems to really put the finishing touches to a video. But going through my mind what he would have had to do to get that footage (unless he had a sidekick) would be a real pain in the arse time consumer. The "follow me" shots with the drone would be in the same category. Top marks to all the guys who go to the trouble of doing this to provide a good product. It is appreciated.
Amazing video... Just wondering why people get so upset when you fish in the canals outside their property? Its not like they own the water too? Keep the videos coming...I wish I was in a warm country...canals in the UK are shit...
I'm new and I was wondering, where the hell do you fish at, and wow alot of high houses, what city, state or what ever there are called lol, answer and i will subscribe to your chanel
frontage on the Gold Coast and an ever increasing number of recreational water users, the potential exists for conflict between waterfront property owners and people using the adjacent waterways. Any waterfront property owners or regular water users reading this could probably relate a relevant story. The writer has personally observed an upset waterfront property owner throwing rocks at a kayak fisherman, fishing in the adjacent canal, encouraging him in an enthusiastic fashion to “get off his water”. So who owns the water? Like most things, this is a subjective question. However, the starting point is that tidal waterways and established bodies of water are usually state-owned and that freehold property titles usually extend only to the high water mark. This means adjacent waterways and foreshore areas below the high tide mark are public areas, open to access and use by members of the public. In the example relayed above, the kayak fisherman was not exceeding his access rights and was entitled to be on the public waterway. However, different areas can have different rules. For example, the master planned developments of Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island do include areas of waterways as common property areas in various body corporate schemes. Ephraim Island is similar. The bodies corporate for these areas can impose rules about access to these areas of water, including the restriction of access to members of the general public. Similarly, many marina areas are governed by a state lease over the water areas, which does allow the marina operator to impose rules about access and use also. The water is there for all of us to use and you’re exactly 100% correct they don’t own the water it’s a simple as that everywhere that you are fishing you are legally allowed to fish debate closed see you on the water 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Last count Ephraim Island had 14 body corporates running the joint... By the time they've all come to a conclusion about moving you on - it'd be next week...
Awesome 👏😎🎣🎣🎣👌👍👍. Why does the world hate fisherman? Most of the time we trow the fish back, unless it’s a really tasty 😋 one ☝️😁😉. You can’t fish in the 🌊 Ocean, your trespassing lmao 😂😁. If they only knew we are all laughing at them on UA-cam now 😂😂😂🤣. Good job, really nice fish, and a boat. 👍👍👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣🎣😂🙏😎😁
The Jack Lure Marathon ? Good video again mate. Don't those same laws that you have put up during one of your other videos still apply ? I thought if it was tidal (other than the known caveat ie privately excavated etc.) then it was public property ?
It was marky mark and the funky bunch. Tell mark I said Hi!! Bahahahahahahahahah best vid I've seen so local. New sub here. Seriously have to catch up for a fish mate. Jacks are on yeeeew
good on you for having the patience mate, if that happened to me ide remember all their addresses and leave them a little....suprise..... at their front door
Drew I live in Victoria and me and my mate would get hassled by security and even the Commodore of the Geelong yacht all the time so we rang the authorities and found out the actual laws so we hen we get hassled we just fire back with the facts works every time
The installation of private water jetties and pontoons onto the public waterways can cause some confusion. Currently, the installation of a jetty or pontoon by a waterfront property owner needs prior Gold Coast City Council approval, with authorisation from the Gold Coast Waterways Authority as a referring agency. Without that approval, a property owner has no right to install such a structure. It is important to note that the approval only gives rights to the installation and use of the structure. It does not grant any ownership rights over the water area surrounding the structure, and the approval by the relevant authority will be given in consideration of the provisions of the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995. A guiding principle of this act is that the general public’s right of access to the tidal foreshore must be maintained. The structure is the property of the owner, however, and the general public cannot access or damage the structure.
Agreed. The problem I think is they are sold these properties as "private waterfront" so I think the real estate agents and body corporate are as much to blame for the confusion
Epic vid as always mate! just gotta ask what day was this?? I was fishing in that exact area on Friday morning for,m my yak at first light, using almost identical lures, Didn't even get one hit. You cleaned up mate. Good job

Constructive video suggestion: you show a lot of casts, which is cool. Every time you do, I want to see it hit the water, but your arm is in the way or you quick cut away. It's precision casting and should be shared!
Ok cool..I always figured it would be boring to people. Thanks for the suggestion 👍

It's not that we cannot afford to feed the poor, but that we cannot afford to satisfy the rich.
