    Great video man. It is so nice to see people who are working in the industry to take the time and make educational/informative videos like this. Keep it up Robert!

    The Pro Creator combo is the highlight this time because you dont need the gimbal but use the pro grip and LiDAR is more than enough , especially for solo shooter.
    It's great , really great.

    Really love your content, you have become one of my favorite channels. I love the blend of information and really nice behind the scenes footage/examples. I know firsthand how much extra effort it takes to set those up when you're already busy doing actual work on set, so to get this much real-world footage is an absolute treat. Thank you for the effort, and please know it is very much appreciated.

    This is the system I've been waiting for - decent autofocus with seamless manual takeover for any manual lens. You have some lens camera great combos and get to play with all the juiciest kit haha, though I'm not convinced by those Cooke CP3's, to be honest. Personal taste...

    I got burned buying the RS3 when I needed the pro. I really like want to float the gimbal at the knee level and the suit case handle is suited for that. By not getting the RS3 Pro I was not able to use the Tilta remote control suitcase handle. I'm glad they are incorporating the RSA connection to the base model now.

    Hey Robert, need your help. What gimbal would you use for ZV-E1 and Tamron 35-150 (big lens)? RS4 or do you think RS4 Pro would have more stable footage?

    • @robchado
      @robchado  5 місяців тому

      The RS4 can probably handle the weight but the Pro has a bigger balancing platform and stronger torque so it would definitely be more stable.

    2:01 - Unless you use a Ronin 4D! The 4D can manually focus active e-mount, L-mount and DL-mount lenses and is repeatable!

    Any update on this system? It’s made of plastic; has it been broken? I’ve read that there’s no control of the LiDAR from the hand unit, just the side grip on camera. Also if you can only calibrate 3 lenses, what do you do when you have a full set for a job? Keep calibrating while shooting?

  • @theflyinggrip

    They really missed the mark with the control handle with no zoom control built in…it’s handicapped from the start. It should have a force knob for your thumb on top or something similar. Great in depth review, very much appreciated. Is the frame profile of the rs4 pro the same as the rs3 pro? Have a landing gear set for my rs3 pro (drone build up) would like to know if it would be swappable. Cheers!

    • @robchado
      @robchado  6 місяців тому

      I agree, I wish there were zoom control as well. As far as I can tell, they are similar aside from the 8.5mm extension on the tilt axis.

      It’s bananas. The only thing that I’ve found that trips it up is haze. It makes it go haywire.

    • @spdcrzy
      @spdcrzy 6 місяців тому

      @@robchado that's because the haze usually scatters the LIDAR in weird ways, right? It's the light-absorbing/diffusing properties of haze that naturally mess with how LIDAR works to begin with.

    I know the new RS4 Lidar is supposed to be an upgrade in comparison with the old RS3 Lidar, but I wonder if the RS3 Lidar can still work with this new hand unit. Kinda wish these things could get firmware upgrades vs buying an entirely new Lidar module...

    I've wrote DJI literally everywhere I could, because that 30cm cable length is a joke, especially considering Lidar has ports on the right side, while by default the pro handgrip is configured as a left grip. You can use cable exteders though, but it's not the thing I like to use. Also generic USB-C cables won't fit into the pro grip physically - usual cables have thicker plastic around the usb-c connector thus won't fit into the pro grip, so only extension cables will work. Also I'm curious regarding the use of Premista zoom - I can't get my lidar close enough to place it under the mattebox because the maximum lidar to sensor distance as of now is 300mm, you can't set longer on the pro grip, and the front of my lens is about 35-38cm. Weird limitation, I really hope they will fix it in the firmware to at least 500mm.

    • @alexlubensky
      @alexlubensky 2 місяці тому

      Also the cables that DJI uses are not even a braided or thick kind of a cable - they bend like a breeze

    Hi Robert. We are looking to run a Burano on RS4 Pro for an upcoming shoot. Not sure about pulling the trigger on the DJI Focus Kit yet or if that will get here in time. But any tips on running power solutions for the Burano, as well as mounting a Teradek Bolt 6 TX? Looking at SP3 or Leica Rs so wanted to stay small and not having to rent Ronin 2

    • @robchado
      @robchado  6 місяців тому +1

      You can mount batteries/Teradek onto the extension arms. I used Dual Lock to attach a battery plate and suggest a right angle 4-pin XLR to D-tap.

      @ZimingXie You wouldn’t be able to control the gimbal without the control handle. Smallrig and Titla also offer cheaper handles. The Focus Pro grip is really designed for handheld shooting.

    I've watched 5 videos on this subject, yours is the ONLY one that lists the price of each component of this system. Thank you very much. The strange thing is nobody mentions the limitation of this tool. Its field of view is 70 degree. That means if your subject is OUTSIDE the 70 degree field of view, the auto focus of this tool is NOT ACCURATE any more. This is listed on DJI website.
