- Beijing feels empty. There’s no festive atmosphere at all. Many migrant workers have gone home, leaving the streets cold and deserted. Supermarkets are nearly empty, and even the subway, which used to be packed, now has few passengersJoin this channel to get access to perks:

Beijing is turning into PyongYang.
I've been there recently. Definitely not on North Korea level, at least in the CBD and popular areas. Although time will tell.
A well lit PyongYang
I was in Frankfurt last year and it looked like this, but with the lights all turned off.
Fuck help us god, the world economy is so fucked right now
And Moscow
@ its fine here, +10 % of GDP in surplus, record low unemployment.
And its GD socialists that run the show here ATM, though here left / right dont really matter all fools in Denmark.
So far, these are my best explanations:
- Population shrink is greater than anyone is letting on. There are, literally, physically less people.
- Far far more grandparents and old aunties are dying off and many of those in their 60s.
- At the same time, the vast overbuilding of GDP bloating communities has dispersed the populations too far away.
- in 2025, its not just that younger people no longer like Spring Festival or have less aunties and grandparents to visit (or none to visit) or that there are far far more divorces making family reunions uncomfortable OR that many are uncomfortable returning somewhere to be humiliated by a lack of family, marriage, no children (this is a massive deep issue at Spring Festivals) but they are really in 'Survival Mode'.
They have to go two full weeks, half a month without any earnings. They are actually in Beijing but they have set up two bowls of rice, don't use heaters, blanket up, keep any expense to full minimums, eat a little meat and just try and get through the financial darkness and hope to climb back out after its over. (then they are 2 weeks behind on basics).
They are in an apartment trying to go without 2 weeks worth of income.
Another loser. This is garbage anti China bullshit propaganda channel
The massive business closures means the migrant workers have been forced to gone back to their villages. That was the vast majority of the population in the cities.
China had a housing valuation collapse in recent years. So, their own version of "2008." It's like it's "2010" in China now, with interest rates being slashed and being on the tail end of a recession. China may have barely avoided recession. Oil use plateaued 2019-2022. In 2023, they used more oil, but I wonder if that uptick was due to the Chinese government buying more on the open market for storage reasons. Remember the Chinese government may be preparing for war.
@@stalemateib3600 China is in a recession going into a depression that will make the great depression look like a walk in the park. They're drowning in debt and have lost a majority of their customers, tons of factories shutting down, cities almost empty as all the migrant workers have returned to their home towns because work dried up. The housing collapse isn't done yet, and a banking collapse is also going on, large swathes of the people that still have jobs haven't been paid in many months, including government workers. Local governments are basically insolvent and have resorted to hunting everyone they can with huge fines to bring in revenue. It's dire in China.
I thought the Chinese are big savers.
It's good news for those cities, it will be zero pollution.
Unfortunately the damage is far too great....the impact of the pollution is devastating
if China not was so rude against Foreign ppl than it was much better for China now the have to deal with empy citys well done China
Truly.
No. This is because not much people is born in that places. Much of them are from other cities and go there to study and work. In new year and other festivities to they travel home. This is the immigrant workers power! Not any other things
One day they put mannequins around the city thinking that the city is lively with so-called people, an" I am Legend " reference
Loser with 40IQ
i ram regend!
Only the brain dead will come up with this idea. A city of 22 million can never be empty. What a joke of a channel.
If I remember correctly, isn't there a city in North Korea that does that?
Ok I know things are bad. But not this bad. Empty Beijing on Lunar new year? Holy shit that is like empty street on Christmas eve for American. I love to make fun at WuMao and CCP but even I have to say that I hope everyone is doing alright in China. Stay strong
This channel is ciq propaganda and part of 1.6B passed by congress to smear China
Prior to COVID (ie. normal times) I found the major cities are virtually empty during the Chinese New Year celebrations. This is because everyone goes back to their hometowns/villages. It was rather shocking how empty it was.
same with capital of indonesia JAKARTA .
every idul fitri all the people go home to their hometown
Well, it wasn’t that long ago, Mainland Chinese boasted about their wealth! Expensive jewelry for self indulgence, and expensive Apple Watches for dogs! I don’t dislike Mainland Chinese, but I am happy they are waking up to reality. Many overseas Chinese had never have the opportunity to buy expensive Apple Watches for dogs, wear LV’s, Gucci!
This channel must think we are all idiots.
@@kamsunleong6648so idiot now means "not buying into Chinese propaganda"?
@@kamsunleong6648Exactly I'm surprised at the kind of people that comment on this channel.
People who haven't been to china will be behind the keyboard typing nonsense because of a random video from a China hater.
They all went to Myanmar and Thailand to voluntary donates their organs in order to support their beloved country of China. So proud of them.......
CCP says new year and everything is cancelled.
Rise up People of China
Wow the most Clean City ever
I love that there is no graffiti, none.
01:35 In the past, New York City Chinese restaurants were about the only place to eat on Christmas day/evening.
As a person that lives in wanjing and goes out everyday 6-9pm walks the whole Damm area is dead asides from a few anxious looking young people lurking here and there and 2 Koreans I saw today there is not a single person anywhere
I lived in Beijing for a number of years. When the New Year holiday hit the city always emptied out into a ghost town. It was well known that you stocked up groceries the week before New Year because everything would be closed.
Xi Jinping, “Power Must be Caged by the System”, Qiushi, January 22, 2013:
“We should continue to catch ‘tigers’ as well as ‘flies’ when dealing with cases of leading officials in violation of Party discipline and state laws as well as misconduct and corruption problems that directly affect the people’s interests. All are equal before the law and Party discipline; whoever is involved in a corruption case must be thoroughly and impartially investigated.”
The results, after 12 years of Xi’s anti-corruption campaign?
“Corruption is RAMPANT in China!”
-Victor Gao, Al Jazeera, August 2024 in front of a live international audience.
Note: When Xi says ‘tigers’ he means the rich and powerful in China. When he says ‘flies’, he’s referring to everyone else in China.
Flies. Says a lot about him and the CCP doesn’t it?
This is a non story as most commentators say on here and on other YT stories "many people go home during the holidays, there are not many local residents" - that's why streets are empty
If tourist want to experience Chinese feeling and some traditions, they should try to go to Taiwan.. 💯👍
@~6:18...100 million South Koreans? The population of South Korea itself is only 52 million.
He meant 100,000.
Beijing empty? They're all in the new bunkers aren't they? 🤔🤔
Shops are certainly deserted, but merchandize is fully available.
Taiwan is crowd in new year
I have to say the subway was impressive some areas were overcrowded but as a whole it was amazing.
China built the expensive houses in the City where were no jobs ; so the Chinese were not affordable to buy that house. The average annual income was about $ 6500 dollars ; or $520.00 a month. But the house cost about $300 K. There were no way to have enough saving to buy that houses.
Blame alien abduction.
Travel domestically? Yet still acting uncivilized throughout the rest of the world LOL!
So, in a city of 20 million, all the citizens are from outside? Really bizarre!!!😂
Maybe this city is becoming the next NORTH KOREA.
Mess with a virus, expect fallout
Keep on reporting 🍯
Everything was closed on New Year's. There is no "rush hour" on the holiday when everything is closed
Crazy amount of people were at the fireworks celebration. It was .amazing.
stop the cap fireworks were banned this year.
Is this true? I see other UA-camrs showing a different story. Can someone living in China please confirm?
We have many Chinese tourists here in Pattaya.
Don't u know what this channel works for?
@@levin36 As opposed to CCP shill channels?
Tourists? Or have they moved there?
I was in Shenzhen and Huizhou during CNY they were both crowded.
you see other youtubers who are brought on guided to tours by the CCP.. and are PAID to tell nice stories about China..
WUMAO culture is real.
6:11 a hundred million South Koreans? No wonder it looks so empty if they all left 😂
Seriously i was confused isn't South Korea's total population like 48 to 52 million people, and some how (South Korea population )x2 is for some reason in China....
I wonder were they went when they left China as South Korea's population isn't 150+ million yet
@EndlessTravels I don't think there's much proof reading of their scripts, so these silly errors are never catched, probably meant a 100k...
Garbage channel
The number of Koreans living in China for a long time was 500,000 in 2008, and it was found to have decreased to 400,000 in 2017 and 210,000 in 2023 after the coronavirus.
On the other hand, the number of Koreans living in Vietnam has increased rapidly due to the activation of investment in Vietnam, reaching 180,000.
Karma
When people are scared or poor, why leave your home?😢
So nice no aunties making a fool of themselves
Xi Jiping has been building a new capital for years, and part of the city has moved to Xiong'an.
Ofcourse it empty , 10 days Chinese spring holidays just start , all migrant workers went back to their home town to celebrate Chinese new year , no wonder big town like Beijing , Shanghai, Shenzhen mostly empty and shop closed.
Are they always like that even in the past or this just past years?
@paulgap7012 Chinese new year is the most important holiday in China , atleast 500 million migran workers went back to their hometown to celebration of Chinese new year with their families.

@~2:21 that highway looks pretty busy.
Yeah I looked at all that traffic and was like there go all your people that you said were not there. 😂😂
@@wolverine89893 People leaving Beijing, perhaps?
6:19- 100 million South Koreans? The entire population of S. Korea is about 52 million.
😂😂😂 man this is absurd
He meant 100,000. Hint - it dropped to 20,000. 100 million to 20,000 is tip off.
Chinese only celebrate Halloween 🎃🎃🎃
They don't celebrate anything without crackdowns. It's a "no fun" country.
Beijing too! China needs to make Tiananmen City Great Again!
This situation is normal during the Chinese New Year holiday. No news
Yeah. Obviously this YT channel has an agenda and I get that, but it’s really CNY as normal this year. Most cities are always dead during CNY, go to a town and it’s still popping off. This video is trying to make it seem like some ghost town and some crazy situation but people are still celebrating. For people that are expats in China, CNY can be nice in the cities as everyone clears out and it’s quiet and easy to get around.
20 million poeple all left did they?
It’s so sad because when I was in China for two months in September and October it was packed
Joy has been censored.
Thailand, Japan, Malaysia are some of the destinations for them to migrate?
Its Chinese new year no one is ever there during new year
3:17 UGH!
videos posted on online???
Damn, China is gonna go boom-boom
People leave the big cities to go to their hometowns during the Chinese New Year. This is not honest journalism. I am all about bashing China for legitimate reasons, but this is normal
That's what I.was thinking. How does this compare to previous years?
Just back from shanghai and it was quiet on New Year’s Eve as people are with their family but crowded the next day and on. I have my own video on my channel
But get after these mfs like I do. They are all crooks, paid actors and AI generated women. And footage taken from other countries. Yesterday they showed highway snow storm video in China, most footage from usa with us number license plates clearly visible and it said China doesn't not care about their people stuck.
can't help but laugh at the two buffoons trying to celebrate Chinese new year
I like these videos. Things suck in the U.S. but at least I’m not a citizen of the CCP😂
Deepseek n you DEEPSICK
Excellent,no way of catching COVID 19 of Bird Flu 😎😂
aren't people back in their own areas during CNY? that's why the streets and shops are empty?
OOOOOOOOOOOFconomy!
It is funny I did notice there was not a whole lot of stuff about new years on rednote
6:15 100mill to 20k? Thats more than the population of South korea and north korea combined.
its probably easier to spend cny at your local chinatown for the atmosphere.
take back china
China belongs to the mongol
100 million south Koreans? 😂
There are Muslim stores in Beijing? I never would have guessed
Total control. Of empty space.
It is like that since I was there in 2019😂
Who has income coming in, might be the question that is being asked.
They're all in Australia.
What a propaganda vlog 😅😅😅
it's like the early 1990s.
Today it has been packed. People returning back from home towns after Chinese new year.
Old news
I am buying lots of good from our friend Vietnam.
Then, who was shooting all those fireworks?
The online fireworks peddlers (TEMU) did a roaring trade. No need to go too town to buy.
For real!! It's annoying and jarring.
ALL those fireworks? Have you never seen a whole city setting off fireworks?
For a city of 19.4 million people the amount of activity, esp on a holiday, is pitiful.
He says most people aren't from Beijing, so how many people are from Beijing that live there also? 2:31
This video is silly. It is always dead during the Chinese New Year. Everyone goes to their hometown to see their family.
No, not always and not to these degrees. You have to keep in mind Beijing IS home for millions and those families would go home to Beijing. However, what's being seen here is the degrees of emptiness. 10 years ago, straight through Spring Festival you'd have seen massive numbers on the streets. This would also include a massive number of overseas Chinese who'd return to China via Beijing for Spring Festival.
@@theasianjaywalker4455 After the spring festival, they will have another video of people sightseeing during the spring festival.
@@mesimesi2313 There have been people sightseeing but it's significantly less than it was 5 years ago (not counting the brutal wuflu closures) and what we need to watch is the 'degree'. How many, how little.
but its understandable because China is in the start of economic collapse so of course we see less than before.
The bigger question is how much of the decline is actual population. That and aging population.
Well in another video I saw there were no people celebrating in the villages like in previous years. Do you have another place you can suggest where the people have gone. Perhaps the China sea?
Beijing has a population of 11,716,620. Are you saying they are all migrants who leave to go to their hometown?
Well, I am not interested in visiting China…there are other places to visit…
Thank you. Kong hei fat choi.
I find it hard to believe that it is this bad. This channel is prone to hyperbole.

Cut the crab propaganda. Have you step foot in Beijing???
Western Observer AKA China observer
Seriously dude. I know we have to be cautious about China and all, but stop spreading lies. CNY (Chinese New Year) is the time where everyone goes home to celebrate. It's very common for areas to be empty. There's a fine line between news and propaganda.
