The difference between engine capacities of US, EU and Asian cars is mindblowing. But I felt like US was always behind, I feel like making gigantic engines that are powerful is much easier than fitting the same amount of HP in a car like Yaris GR, GTI Golf, etc.
Large engines tuned to less horsepower last much, much longer than high horsepower small engines. That's not an issue in Germany or France, but 30+ European countries fit inside the US. We want our cars fast too, but we also need them to last longer because they'll be getting way more miles than Euro cars.
Something like an NA Chevy LS is lighter and physically smaller than many other high HP engines, therefore thinking of engines as being 'big' or 'small' based on displacement can be misleading. Also judging how good engines are based on the displacement and the peak power is very misleading. A lorry / wagon / truck can have a 14 liter engine with a turbo on it making only 400-450hp. Does that make it bad? Or, do you need to consider what RPM that peak power is made, the peak torque, and the shape of the power/band. These higher displacement engines are much more drivable at low RPM due to the torqueband, which is where most people do most of thier driving. Hardly anyone talks about powerband but instead obsesses over peak power that only happens at a certain RPM, which is strange consider people drivie cars over a range several thousand RPM. The reason why the US makes cars with more displacement than EU/JPN cars mainly comes down to things like displacement tax.

Save those American Beasts, thanks to FIAT/Stellantis they killed them, also the 500e Aborth (they don't deserve the Abarth name) in 2 months only 14 was sold in Italy compared to 60 Ferrari Roma in the same period
Very nice, and yes those things sound amazing, especially inside the cities at night.👂 No sound generator is needed.
Can one turn off the stupid cylinder deactivation somewhere in the setup menu?
Only way to turn it off is put it in sport or manual mode. You can get a tune to disable it and have the lifters changed to non mds lifter. Other than that it’s gonna stay on in normal mode.
@@kellyoubrejr544 Thanks, I did not know that. Needing the lifters to be changed sounds like a lot of work.
