These are facts. They're great and fun with the 6 speed. Looks good, sounds good and at the end of the day I can still only go about 100mph on occasion for short bursts on the highway so the extra hp isn't that essential especially since I don't track.
Awesome review. Unless you're a 15 year old who has never owed a real car, this is honestly one of the best reviews I have ever watched. Fast enough to get you in trouble, but not so much that you can't get back out of it. Nice work...!

Love the fact you described it as a commuter car because it’s exactly perfect and fun for that while maintaining its muscle powerhouse presence. Nailed it! Speed isn't the only factor when laying out nearly $50k for a car that is used for daily driving, vacations, or any other purpose. Something as simple as a comfortable ride is important to many. Don't get me wrong, acceleration and speed are ultra important but I sure don't floor it every time I take it out of the garage. As much as I still love spirited driving, high school is decades behind me.

Just had the pleasure of having the use of a 2021 Challenger R/T on a long weekend trip with my wife to Niagara Falls, NY. We reserved a KIA Soul and she pulled in the driveway in an R/T with 10K miles. Not sure what else my gorgeous significant other may have done to get that deal but hey, who was I to ask questions? Honestly, when she first got home my first thought was " I'm going to wreck a Hemi Challenger this weekend". I heard her coming down the street, the exhaust note is glorious. It's loud AF but only if you want it to be. I showed restraint and drove like an adult, most of the time. The 27.6 mpg I got on our 1000 mile jaunt is proof. This car was blast to drive. I was thankful for the low key but beautiful Silver paint on this car but it still got a lot of attention. Plenty of power for me, I couldn't imagine the need for double the HP in a Hellcat.
Solid post. Even though the R/T isn't purchased for gas mileage concerns, it is a nice feature for anyone to be able to use mid grade gas in a Hemi. The owner's manual says it and who am I to argue with Dodge engineers that built the darn thing. On a recent 200 miles trip I re-set the computer and 24.2 mpg was supposedly obtained even though I was in 'manual' 8th gear to eliminate the 4 cylinder mode. That's simply amazing to me.

Rented a 2022 Challenger RT for a week. Nice pleasing video. Good job! I bought a new 2020 R/T Shaker last November and it is plenty fast. More power is really unneeded unless you race. It's that simple. Did you know that the R/T with it's 5.7 Hemi has similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile numbers as the 426 Hemi in the 1970 Challenger?? Look it up if you don't believe me. The info is everywhere. YES< the R/T is fast enough.
@@capricetony I really like it. The Shaker package was a $2,595 option and it included many other cosmetic features. I also have the PLUS package which was $3,195 and the Performance Handling Group at $1,595. It all adds up but what a car! Back to your question: The looks are worth every penny to me. The only minor downside is needing to remove the Shaker for oil changes or adding any oil. 4 easily removed fasteners take it an extra few minutes, but no big deal to me. I was fortunate to find the exact car I wanted in Go Mango with all the performance options sitting on a lot just 200 miles from me. I'm hearing 3 - 4 months for ordering new cars. I have no first hand experience with that however.
Great review Mr. Hardy. I've had my Octane Red '21 R/T Blacktop w/automatic for 13 months now, and can tell you that I am still in love with everything about it. I call her "Whitney" because she is beautiful and sounds amazing, [Whitney Houston reference for the young kids out there]. I've been through a few cars in my 35 years of driving, and Whitney is my favorite by far. A couple of quick added bonuses to point out that I appreciate: The 5.7L V-8 Hemi engine has VVT and what Dodge calls MDS, [Multi Displacement System] which cuts cylinder usage from 8 to 4 when the Challenger is cruising. Saves a little fuel. Also the instrument menu has a 0-60 mph timer which I've had fun with. It took a few tries, but I finally recorded a 5.1 second 60, [optimal]. The tires will slip if conditions aren't perfect. Lastly, the car is roomy when compared to its competition. I am 6'6", 230 lbs and find it to be very comfortable allowing for long cruises without complaint. I will check out a few more of your reviews, you have a new fan.
I just brought the 2017 version. It only had 26,000 miles on it, one previous owner. I love it. I wanted a 6.1 l engine but my wife said that was too much so we settled for this. I’m gonna drive it like a old man driving a Cadillac, I’m not a racer except when there’s a few times when I wanna go around a couple of stupid drivers. Very nice car! 🚘
the 21 RT got everything the RT deserved. the better hood, the bigger chin splitter, the bigger brakes, chrome delete, black steering wheel, line lock, launch control.....the rest of us look like the v8 SXT smh
😂 One hundred percent agree... I could've have had A 2018 scat pack... But I simply went with the 2020 RT. Because it had the hood scoop. And they were the same price scat had less miles too
I own one of these and its plenty fast enough as long as you don't want to race anyone and actually win. If you want a masculine car that sounds great especially with some performance mid mufflers or catback exhaust and is fun to drive on back roads while at the same time not caring that mustangs and camaros will eat you for breakfast then this is the car for you. I love my RT its a blast to drive I have 0 regrets buying it other than I should of bought one sooner.
I've had my R/T for a little over a year now. Traded up from the SXT. I still get a thrill every time I start it and step on the gas. I have a Scat Pack ordered, should be here in a couple weeks.
@@kiovoheree Very! I was surprised at how much more power I had going from 305 to 375 then to 485 hp. I still sometimes get a wheel spin when I accelerate from a stop w/o thinking, lol!
So.....I went back and forth with a 2021 Challenger RT vs. Scat Pack. While the Scat Pack was faster, I loved the rumble in the RT while idling. Seemed louder. Plus, I'm not a fan of the bees on the SP, almost cartoonish.
i keep coming back to the same thought. new cars are a trip, no doubt. but for the 2nd or 3rd owner when the new has worn off and all the electronics start getting glitchy, they are going to start feeling more like a headache than s head rush.
So true with ANY car, but with 'muscle' cars you have to be concerned even more with the 'abuse' factor. If buying used, try to get a one owner Challenger from an older dude that rarely floored it, just used it for cruising and car shows.
Amen! That is exactly why I trade as soon as the warranty runs out or three years whichever. Had everything from Camaros, firebirds, mustangs, corvettes, Mercedes’, jeeps, trucks but I finally lucked out in getting a car I might very well keep to be buried in. The 2022 Dodge Challenger RT pitch black out with sun roof and active exhaust. What a car! M first Dodge and every time I start it up, I silently say Where have you been all my life”!
I've been pretty happy with my 5.7 6speed as a daily in upstate NY. If you really want to go faster.... You should probably look at something lighter....
Just bought a new ‘21 R/T Challenger with the Tremec. You’re right, it’s so comfortable, and sounds great. My car was built in December ‘21 and the MSRP was 37k not 35k!
Usually the Brembos are an 'option'. They were on my 2020 R/T as part of the $1,595 'performance package'. They sure stop the car quick. Very impressive.
Let's talk about Challenger V9 RT, oh there is a Honda Civic R.... oh there is a Blue Corvertte... Oh there is a Urus ... That's how good is RT, end of show.. I am just kidding, loved your video. I have a 2021 V8 Shaker, it's absolutely a head turner.
I ordered a RT Shaker in 2019 and I am glad I didn't get the 6.4. Don't need 91 octane, uses the same oil as my truck becauseit is 99% the same. It's a truck motor for christ sake unlike the 6.4 car engine.
... dang it lol I watched your 2022 GT Awd review cause I live in winter regions and this popped up so I clicked ... and that exhaust note reminded me why I loved my 17 r/t ... so thx for trip down memory lane ;) ... great review, Thx for sharing and bringing back memories ...
Yes, they do need them. 0-60 launches are tough without wheel spin. I still have not driven mine in the rain either (bought my R/T last November) and I'm sure the traction will be so-so whenever I do hit some rain.
No buyer's remorse here. I don't want or need a faster car. I don't race. I wanted a car like my old 'Cuda. The R/T is very similar in every aspect and is even faster. More HP is for boasting purposes only unless you actually use the HP for racing or just prefer the looks for personal reasons. To each his own.
01TA I say this because after a period of time, the RT will lack in power / the thrill and comfort SRT drive modes enable. The scatpack is in the middle with speed when it comes to the muscle car line up
can these tow anything? i've always wondered.. I assume the hemis in the rams are tuned differently and have a stronger trans. (not an expert just an enthusiast)
Only a young person asks this question. If you had grown up in the 1980s you would appreciate things more. When I got my driver's license, if a car had 350HP, it was fast. Only muscle cars from the past had that much HP. My 1985 Trans Am had 190HP, my 1989 Mustang GT had 225HP and my 2002 Mustang GT had 260HP. The Challenger RT has 375HP. More than anybody needs if they are not using the car to make money LEGALLY, racing at a sanctioned motor speedway.
I think it is positioned for people who do not want the fastest car, but still like the rumble of the V8. Even if you get the Scat Pack (which I have), it is still not as fast as the Mustang GT with the 10 speed transmission, but it does look a lot better.

Did you know that the R/T with it's 5.7 Hemi has similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile numbers as the 426 Hemi in the 1970 Challenger?? Look it up if you don't believe me. The info is everywhere. YES< the R/T is fast enough.
How is your Shaker? How long it take to order?
Have you driven the scatpack yet?
Damn... That sounds beautiful!
Dodge: There's no such thing as too much horsepower! Stay tuned.
Tell that to those who crashed and killed them selves and others
@@cavitycreep blame the driver
And Torque! For Dodge it's Torque!
That's why I bought a SCAT
@@cavitycreep Yeah cause it's the car's fault that its driver was irresponsible. Dumbass take right there.
This comment makes the most sense ever
I've had my R/T for a little over a year now. Traded up from the SXT. I still get a thrill every time I start it and step on the gas. I have a Scat Pack ordered, should be here in a couple weeks.
Well….how’s the Scat??
@@brandonb.5070 I've had it a little over a year now...LOVE it!!!
@@waitn4theharpazo awesome! Great to hear! I plan to make the same jump soon
@@waitn4theharpazosince you had all those trims can i ask you have much noticeable is the power of a sxt to rt and a rt to scat
@@kiovoheree Very! I was surprised at how much more power I had going from 305 to 375 then to 485 hp. I still sometimes get a wheel spin when I accelerate from a stop w/o thinking, lol!
375 to the crank. Great sounding V8. It’s honestly a great car no matter how you look at it
Idc what car is faster than mine or who has the fast car . All I know is my car makes me happy . Get what makes you happy ❤
I have a 21' track ready Challenger R/T in Hell Raisin. Great ride enough power for the grins and still maintains milage sanity.
i like how you go over everything but you do it fast
Your video helped me decide to get the rt.I just bought this exact car and I love it.plenty fast enough for me
I've been pretty happy with my 5.7 6speed as a daily in upstate NY. If you really want to go faster.... You should probably look at something lighter....
Or get a scatpack
Nah then it’s shoulda have got a demon or a hellcat and on and on
This is plenty fast
@@paulmarclalonde3834 let's see yours.
Just picked up the same car today in a charcoal granite color.
for 46k might as well get a damn scat pack.
Yep a used scat I would definitely the pricing on the new r/t are too expensive
Scat cost like 65 -70 U don’t want a really used one
😹
Trading in my 15 challenger sxt for the rt this weekend !
How do you like it?
Just bought a new ‘21 R/T Challenger with the Tremec. You’re right, it’s so comfortable, and sounds great. My car was built in December ‘21 and the MSRP was 37k not 35k!
I got the SRT 8 challenger so I could afford the additional power. I don't regret it
Loving my new 2020 Challenger R/T Octane Red with Blacktop pkg.
It's fast enough for me.
Challenger is really jus the perfect daily muscle car.
Just got the exact same car in December. Minus the performance package and spare tire lol
I keep waiting for a black out RT to hit the lots near me to buy! And I want a manual with this one! I love the feeling of shifting.
I love my 2019 R/T
Damn I didn't know the 21 RTs come with brembos, that's dope!
My 2018 3.6 came with brembos and the scat rims , straight put of the lot with 6 miles on it . Not sure why .
Usually the Brembos are an 'option'. They were on my 2020 R/T as part of the $1,595 'performance package'. They sure stop the car quick. Very impressive.
@@01TAI had no clue,I have yet to see a stock R/T with brembos in person
@@01TA makes sense . Yea no lie took me about 2-3 days to get used too lmao . Even on the v6 version you can feel all that weight .
I want one. That black one is real slick
am i the only one that finds the sound it makes when it turns on satisfying
You are NOT alone. The stock exhaust note is amazing!!
I bought mine today! I love it. Mine is Indigo Blue but fully loaded.
Car looks great sounds great & it’s V8
Good video Ben, the entire car could be described by what you said at 2:23: "Ooooh"
Hey Ben! My wife and I are about to move to Utah! Love your Challenger videos, just happens to be my dream car!
Yes it's ridiculous fast
Best review ever syrs do more ❤️ i love Dodge cars
As a 19year old my challanger RT is enough for me it's a fun car to have fun in but not fast enough to get killed.
I surely love mine 2016 RT challenger manual 👍🏾
My 2021 f8 green rt is a blast
... dang it lol I watched your 2022 GT Awd review cause I live in winter regions and this popped up so I clicked ... and that exhaust note reminded me why I loved my 17 r/t ... so thx for trip down memory lane ;) ... great review, Thx for sharing and bringing back memories ...
P.S. @ 8:38 lol that gas station sign brought back memories as well lmao
I am about to BUy one so close ! Wish me luck guys
Did you get it??? This car is better than women.
624whp on my stock block 5.7 with $8k into it. 78k miles all stock drivetrain including clutch. 5.7 is a way better platform to mod than a 6.4
You shouldn’t have to mod it, it should be that fast anyway……
@@dmcrisp a 10 second car for

What did you put on it? I’m considering a supercharger down the line
@@spectre3492 magnuson 2300. I recommend Whipple 3.0l if that's an option for your model year
i’ll be getting one soon hopefully by the end of 2024
I have one and these cars need to all have wider wheels and tires on the back
Yes, they do need them. 0-60 launches are tough without wheel spin. I still have not driven mine in the rain either (bought my R/T last November) and I'm sure the traction will be so-so whenever I do hit some rain.
@@01TA I have an 11 R/T AWD with 275s all the way around and in the rain it’s still a little sketchy. But the AWD definitely helps with the 0-60
I’ll wait for prices to drop 😭 used cars are ridiculous
It should be called SRT package
Love it when it starts. @1:30
Alcantara! Yeah baby!
I had a 2014 RT Plus loved it to
I love your videos
Great video Ben this car looks great
Faster than 90% of the cars on the road at any given time. Sounds awesome. Looks cool. Get a stick. Did I mention it looks cool?
Paid 28k for my Charger RT. In 2018.
I'd consider one if it came with front and rear Sonar , Laser, Lizar, Microwave, Red Light detectors and $1,000 of legal representation for tickets.
New Classic Muscle. Cool post.
Can’t wait to upgrade my sxt challenger
I love this video and I keep watching it.
I want a Hellcat
What you mean to say is you want $100,000.00
I want one! I have a chrysler 300 v6. The scat will cost me $266 a month insurance.
I think it’s fair to say,, that was a warm start! 🤷🏽♂️😂😂😂👌🏽
Only thing I hate about the Challenger is the vacuum tips exhaust ... just wish they got rid of them and do quad tips instead
I love the vacuum tips, looks clean
Agreed i cant stand those round or nothing
This is the one. ✍
I'm getting one in 2023 GOALS
Blacktop package
It's just fast enough for me don't need to go super fast I got a bunch of kids to get home to.
Great review
🔥🔥
Excited for my car tomorrow
When it comes to dodge, I say just go scatpack. All the fun you’ll need & no buyers remorse
The scatpack is in the middle with speed when it comes to the muscle car line up
my dream car
its quick to start. you mod it with bolt ons, then its fast.
can these tow anything? i've always wondered..
This car is so fucking gorgeous.
Beautiful car.
