    Awesome review. Unless you're a 15 year old who has never owed a real car, this is honestly one of the best reviews I have ever watched. Fast enough to get you in trouble, but not so much that you can't get back out of it. Nice work...!

    The challenger RT has always been my dream car and I am lucky to finally be able to drive it. Love the fact you described it as a commuter car because it’s exactly perfect and fun for that while maintaining its muscle powerhouse presence. The demon and hellcat, although badass, are not meant to be daily drive in my opinion

    • @01TA
      @01TA 2 роки тому +21

      Nailed it! Speed isn't the only factor when laying out nearly $50k for a car that is used for daily driving, vacations, or any other purpose. Something as simple as a comfortable ride is important to many. Don't get me wrong, acceleration and speed are ultra important but I sure don't floor it every time I take it out of the garage. As much as I still love spirited driving, high school is decades behind me.

    I think it is positioned for people who do not want the fastest car, but still like the rumble of the V8. Even if you get the Scat Pack (which I have), it is still not as fast as the Mustang GT with the 10 speed transmission, but it does look a lot better.

      These are facts. They're great and fun with the 6 speed. Looks good, sounds good and at the end of the day I can still only go about 100mph on occasion for short bursts on the highway so the extra hp isn't that essential especially since I don't track.

    Just had the pleasure of having the use of a 2021 Challenger R/T on a long weekend trip with my wife to Niagara Falls, NY.
    We reserved a KIA Soul and she pulled in the driveway in an R/T with 10K miles. Not sure what else my gorgeous significant other may have done to get that deal but hey, who was I to ask questions? Honestly, when she first got home my first thought was " I'm going to wreck a Hemi Challenger this weekend". I heard her coming down the street, the exhaust note is glorious. It's loud AF but only if you want it to be. I showed restraint and drove like an adult, most of the time. The 27.6 mpg I got on our 1000 mile jaunt is proof. This car was blast to drive. I was thankful for the low key but beautiful Silver paint on this car but it still got a lot of attention. Plenty of power for me, I couldn't imagine the need for double the HP in a Hellcat.

    • @01TA
      @01TA 2 роки тому +4

      Solid post. Even though the R/T isn't purchased for gas mileage concerns, it is a nice feature for anyone to be able to use mid grade gas in a Hemi. The owner's manual says it and who am I to argue with Dodge engineers that built the darn thing. On a recent 200 miles trip I re-set the computer and 24.2 mpg was supposedly obtained even though I was in 'manual' 8th gear to eliminate the 4 cylinder mode. That's simply amazing to me.

    Great honest review, thanks! Had 3 SRT's (one 300 and two Chargers) before I bought the 2021 Challenger R/T. I burned through tires and premium fuel and only thought I would be ever be happier with even more HP until I test drove this. Sure it's not as fast off the line, but totally agree that it's more usable all the time and the sound from the Active Exhaust is almost better than any of my SRTs plus I save over $100 a month buying regular gas! Great review Mr. Hardy. I've had my Octane Red '21 R/T Blacktop w/automatic for 13 months now, and can tell you that I am still in love with everything about it. I call her "Whitney" because she is beautiful and sounds amazing, [Whitney Houston reference for the young kids out there]. I've been through a few cars in my 35 years of driving, and Whitney is my favorite by far.
    A couple of quick added bonuses to point out that I appreciate: The 5.7L V-8 Hemi engine has VVT and what Dodge calls MDS, [Multi Displacement System] which cuts cylinder usage from 8 to 4 when the Challenger is cruising. Saves a little fuel. Also the instrument menu has a 0-60 mph timer which I've had fun with. It took a few tries, but I finally recorded a 5.1 second 60, [optimal]. The tires will slip if conditions aren't perfect. Lastly, the car is roomy when compared to its competition. I am 6'6", 230 lbs and find it to be very comfortable allowing for long cruises without complaint. I will check out a few more of your reviews, you have a new fan.

    I bought a 5.7 R/T just as the COVID situation was unfolding for $23K w/33K miles. Only option is the 8 speed automatic. I upgraded the speakers myself and picked up fidelity and volume (the sound system was terrible, it’s now acceptable). Yes the 6.4 is faster, but it’s more expensive to buy, feed and insure. And because I didn’t spend a lot, mine is paid for. I’d rather have a paid for fast car than still owe on a faster car. Too each his own, but my advice is to buy the best you can afford, which means paying it off in 3 years. Being a gear head can break you financially if you’re not careful.

The performance did not disappoint at all. It was all blacked out just like this one. Heck, I even gave her a name, and it wasn’t even mine 😂. I named her “Blade”, for obvious reasons😁. Well for one, I just finished watching all three Blade moves🤷🏽‍♂️. Needless to say, it was definitely a wonderful experience for me personally. I told my wife, I need that car in my life 🥰. The Challenger has ALWAYS been my dream car. This one has just enough power for me. I had it just for the weekend😩. Returning her was so heartbreaking. My time is definitely coming. Rented a 2022 Challenger RT for a week. Pros: engine sound and power, responsive 8 speed automatic transmission and I usually prefer stick shift cars , huge trunk , rear seats have room for adults vs competition, very responsive brakes and handling. Cons: terrible gas mileage over 1 week averaged 13.7 MPG in Florida stop and go with ac running. High of 16.8 mpg in my 7 days. Actually ran out of gas once as it has a tiny reserve tank and low fuel light comes on too late to be useful. Overall, it was an awesome car to rent but the horrible fuel economy would make me think twice. Wasn't flooring it all the time either , driving style didn't seem to improve mpg in the city much at all.

      So true with ANY car, but with 'muscle' cars you have to be concerned even more with the 'abuse' factor. If buying used, try to get a one owner Challenger from an older dude that rarely floored it, just used it for cruising and car shows.

    As someone who is not from the USA can you tell me from the MSRP of $46,980 what is the final cost to drive out of the dealership all up.

    • @01TA
      @01TA 2 роки тому +1

      I realize this is a little late but it depends what dealer you buy the car from and if there are rebates available too. During this current 'chip' shortage I hear that many dealers are getting FULL sticker MSRP for the cars plus any dealer 'add-ons' they might include. Also every state has taxes and they are different. You might have to add 3% and up depending where you live, then you have tag/title fees which are in the neighborhood of several hundred dollars. Timing is important and I can relay my own experience last November 2020 when I bought my new 2020 that listed for $48.550. FCA (Stellantis now) had a $3,000+ rebate going on AND the dealer in Georgia where I bought my R/T was offering another $3,000+ off the sticker. I 'saved' over $6,000 BUT then I added on an extended warranty for $2,500. You can see how every person will pay a different amount for their car. I hope this helped a bit.

    My dream car is a 68 or 69 Plymouth roadrunner. Clearly I’ll never get one of those without selling a kidney, would this basically be the modern day equivalent? Is the scat truly that much better? Do either leave you room to do little modifications down the road?

    • @01TA
      @01TA 2 роки тому

      Those late 60's Roadrunners were a rattling box with a high performance engine. I lived through that era and owned a much improved 1971 Roadrunner with the the standard 383. Do these modern R/T's compare? No way as they are LIGHT YEARS better and even faster. The R/T speed numbers are just about equal to the 426 Hemi in the old 70's Challengers. If you don't like those impressive 0-60 or 1/4 mile times, then yeah, the Scat is even quicker and blows away anything from the Mopar past. No need to mod anything unless it's your thing to do.
