Im 5’7 male and started at 190 and have gone down to 180 in 5 months. I ate out very occasionally (3-4 times a month) as kinda socially required in my profession but in general are very healthy and exercised routinely. Even losing this 10lb was very hard for me and I really admire how you have lost so much! I want to lose 20lb more and I know it will take probably another year the way I’m doing it but……it has to get done or I just won’t get to where I want! You were very big aspiration and I understand how much effort you have put in. Please keep up the good work and I will check out future videos!
Hi @nohryi1; welcome to my channel and thank you for taking the time to leave me your supportive message, that really does mean a lot to me. Thank you for telling me about your current experience on your journey to lose some of your unwanted weight. Well done for losing 10 pounds so far. I know how challenging it can for anyone, no matter what your starting point is to loss excess weight. Good for you for also sticking it out on your journey and pursuing your goal. It doesn't matter how long it takes as long as we both pass the finish line. Just keep making small healthy sustainable changes and importantly keep enjoying the process and you will achieve the goal(s) you've set yourself. Thank you once again for your kind and supportive message, enjoy your up and coming week, speak to you later. All my best, Stu.
The good news is that you probably didn't gain 3 actual pounds of fat. Some of that will just be carbs and salt that will come off. And you have 4 more months to make this a solid year where you make real progress, so that's good too. But you know that you did not make the greatest choices. In terms of getting your fluid in, you could get an insulated water bottle that you could bring with you in the car or even at the job site (assuming you're not in a very formal environment; though those usually have water provided.) In terms of your meals...yes you can't meal prep on a work trip but surely there were better choices than a cheeseburger Even small villages have things like grilled chicken or lean cuts of steak. Ready sandwiches are tougher but there are usually some not so bad choices like turkey or even egg salad. One week is one week and you'll be fine. But as I've said in the past you are currently in a longer term cycle of stagnation. It has been quite a while since you lost significant weight, and if you go back into your old videos months or even years you'll see you keep cycling up and down. That's the issue rather than one week. I'm not saying this to make you feel bad because you have lost a lot of weight and kept it off. That's impressive and has improved your quality of life and your health. A lot of people gain it all back and you haven't, so you should be proud of that. But you're also not where you want to be and the question I leave you with is: Do you think what you're doing is working given how long it has been since you've made sustained progress. And if it's not working is there something else you can do or some modification you can make so that it will start working again? At a certain point just "I need to be more consistent" may not be the answer because you've been trying that for a long time, right? I really am not trying to be a jerk. But I think you make these videos in part to get feedback and keep a record, and if what you're doing isn't working then it may be worth trying something else.
Hi Friendyghost75. I hope I haven't gain 3 pounds of solid fat too. Yeah only 4 months left of this year, where has it gone, this year has flown by. I would like to see the last 4 months of this year be solid with good weight losses and go somewhere to losing the 50 pound target I set myself at the start of the year. No, I didn't make the best choices whilst I was on my business trip except for the x2 occasions where I ordered Greek salads. I was ordering from the set menu in my hotel. Fluid consumption is always a big challenge for me when on trips. I always ask for glasses of water during the meetings/visits. But I struggle drinking the volume that I would normally do when in the office. You're 100% right I do make this video's to help me stay accountable and importantly read the feedback/messages people leave me. To answer your question, honestly, no I don't think what I'm doing at this moment in time is working for me. I definitely don't want to regain all the weight I've lost so far, like what I've done on previous weight loss attempts. And I don't want this journey to be another one of those attempts. I want this journey to be the one where I finally conquer the war I've been having with all of my unwanted excess weight all my life. Yes, I feel healthier for the weight that I've lost so far. I've always wanted this journey to be enjoyable for me, because the others weren't where I made large cuts to my calorie intake and stupid amounts of activity. It wasn't; sustainable and it certainly wasn't enjoyable and the end result I felt rubbish and I regained all the weight lost very quickly plus a hell of a lot more to boot. I nervous of that situation happening again, because I want to continue to move forward and not undo all the hard work I've done so far. I don't think you're a jerk for what you've said, I really appreciate your honest and supportive message that you've left me. It does help me put things into perspective. Thank you for your continued support, that really does mean a lot to me. Enjoy your up and coming week, speak to you later. Take care and stay safe, Stu.
Hi Stu, we are having a long weekend here also. I didn’t realize Cornwall was so far from Sheffield. That’s a heck of a drive. Glad you made it safely. Hang in there. You will get back on track. Take care and have a great weekend and upcoming week. Robin
Hi Robin, I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. Yeah Cornwall is the furthest south western county in England. It typically takes 5 or 6 hours to drive from Sheffield to the county boarder of Cornwall. The drive back was worse...9 hours due to all the bank holiday traffic. Thanks for leaving me your supportive message, that always means a lot to me. Enjoy the rest of your week, speak to you later. Take care and stay safe, Stu.
@@StuUnwin oh wow! A 9 hour drive would have been really rough. I always wonder how the truck drivers do it. All day on the road like that. I’m glad you had a safe trip. How’s your mom doing? I hope she is well. Do you two have and travel plans? Take care, Robin
Hi Robin, yeah 9 hours was a long day driving. Yeah my mum is doing well thank you for asking. She's enjoying the retirement life now. No we don't have any travel plans at the moment, my mum been on a couple of trips with her friends. But my house renovations used up all of my savings. So I need to saving up again, before I plan any big holidays. haha.
Hi My Midlife Musings, I too was happy it was a manageable gain. I ended gaining 1 pound more then I would have liked. But in comparison to previous work trips, this weight gain wasn't as bad as I've experienced before. Thanks for taking the time to leave me your supportive message, that always means a lot to me. Enjoy your up and coming week, speak to you later. Take care and stay safe, Stu.
sir appreciate your videos but would recommend watching Dr. Jason Fung or Dr. Eric Berg if your really series of losing weight. a bit long journey there 450 "weeks".......
Hi Jerry, yeah I agree it's been a long journey. I honestly wanted and expected to be much further on and weigh much less than I do know. But it is a journey, it isn't always to going to be plain sailing. Everyones journey is going to be unique to them and will take everyone different lengths of time. I'm just happy that's I've doing my best to stick at it and still feel determined to lose all of my unwanted weight, no matter how long it will take me. Thanks for taking the time to leave me your message, enjoy the rest of your weekend. Speak to you later, take care. All my best, Stu.
