Before you get into the governor, try adjusting the length of the linkage rod. Too long or short can make the governor over sensitive. I'd try shortening a few threads first.
@@FarmallFanatic This was one year ago,may have allready fixed it,I have heard that big round head bollt on top of governor with the lock nut is buffer spring adjustment, they say loosen lock nut and turn it down some to put a little more pressure on buffer spring to eliminate surging, may have to adjust it a little at a time and experiment until it stops, but eventually will have to be rebuilt! Thanks for your videos, enjoy them all!
I have seen tractors sound like that and worse it just be governor out of adjustment. I see there is a bolt in the throttle rod clevis and not a clevis pin. The bolt may be to tight or the threads binding in the clevis and rockshaft arm. Unfortunately working on an old tractor is fixing what most people call good enough.
customer brought in his hydraulic pump for a reseal said it was leaking into his rearend, I don't see how that is possible on super c but thought maybe you had seen it or had a reason for him to believe that is the case. the tractor sets under a car port .
hey Farm Fan, You've always wanted a Super MTA. There's one coming up for auction in Kutztown Pa (Berks County) this coming Saturday (10-02) . Get after it. One step closer to having an example of all of the letter series.
You can fill the pto if you like but when it runs there is an OIL SLINGER GEAR that moves the oil to a passage that runs to the pto assy and also a drain in the pto assy so it dont overflow. If you never use the pto no big deal. Now those passages can get plugged so the pto dont get its supply from the tranny. So fill the pto and dont worry about it unless you do use the pto.
Some people do add transmission oil through that PTO inspection plug so they don't have to wait the few minutes it takes for oil to splash up into the PTO itself
@@FarmallFanatic I know on my 52 Super c there’s a drain plug for it underneath... it’s a little square head plug... should show it in the operating manual under librication somewhere. They are kind of hard to find, especially if a machine has grease or oil build up from a leak somewhere
Yeah that drain plug is actually to make sure that you drain all the old excess gear lube out of it so that it doesn't become old gunky grease. The fill is all at the main plug up on the platform.
I have a 1937 cat grader and in the summer I run 130w it’s a challenge to call napa and say I need 10 gallons of 130w lol. That transmission is all straight cut gears and the whine is perfectly normal but it’s louder than the engine 😂
Thanks for the information, great channel "BOOM" I have 3 Farmall Super C and actively use them on the small farm. Question, I have a C 21 (I Believe) sickle bar mower, where could I get parts for that mower? Have a great day
Here's a tip for the governor/throttle linkage: Shut the engine off and disconnect the front end of the rod. Move the throttle lever fully forward until it won't go any further. Push the rod all the way to the rear, which should be WOT on the carburetor. Adjust the length of the rod until the pin goes back in and tighten the jam nut. This will greatly reduce the "galloping" governor action.
