    -----------------------------------
Basically, it was necessary to rebuild, restore and reupholster the Ford car pick-up truck bench seat. The padding, foam base was deteriorated and has some portions in bad condition.
The ideal decision to have a perfect seat would have been to make a new foam base for the seat and both backrests. The customer did not want to and requested us to rebuild it.
Before fixing the padding it was necessary to check the condition of the zig-zag springs system. We had to replace with new ones some lines of springs.
It was also necessary to repair the seat runners to make the seats correctly slide back and forth again.
To the request of the customer the wrapping was done in automotive black vinyl with contrasting 138 size red thread for top stitches according to a picture he gave us.
For the foaming of the cover we used a bonded 9 mm foam. The diamonds measure 5 cm for the short diagonal and 8 cm for the longer one. The red stitches are 6 mm long.
As several tips included in the video one that stands out is the preparing of the piping: loose upper tension and longer 6 mm stitches when we sew down the vinyl strip to the plastic piping cord(2.5 mm thick)
Once the piping piece was ready it was attached to the required vinyl pieces. The same procedure, loose tension and longer stitches.
Next the last sewing consists in sewing the piece with the piping to the main panels. It is necessary to short stitches 3 to 4 mm long for this process. A tight tension just enough to get a tight sewing.
I hope you find this video useful and get some inspiration to perform your own upholstery projects!
    Cesar

Maybe you won't believe those are orthodontic pliers. We been searching for a similar on upholstery shops and hardware stores but no luck...maybe a future video with a " making standard pliers into curved tip pliers"

Much thanks for your tutorial:: my question is= > does worlden industrial sewing machine suit for upholstery project

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  8 місяців тому +1

It could be with some limitations though. It seems these machines are especially for garments. www.worldengroup.com/
To improve the sewing it would be necessary to do some adjustments as I did on this simple transport Singer sewing machine.
      ua-cam.com/video/V_IYfp7zBfI/v-deo.html
The ideal machine to do upholstery is a double or triple transport (walking foot) sewing machine. ua-cam.com/video/U3HBXBDDKoo/v-deo.html

Pretty sure that is not a factory '72 seat. I'd guess early 80's.

The body work and painting guy told me it was a 72 Ford truck. He was wrong with the year. I now have realized the model is later on.
You are right it is not a 72 truck, thanks for your commentary.
