A Song of Ice and Fire Author/Game of Thrones Creator George R. R. Martin Interview
You can criticise him for not finishing his A Song of Ice and Fire series, but you cannot deny his vast knowledge and talent in literature and fantasy and sci fi in general. He is also super well spoken in his views on writing and genres and no one can take that away from him.
Just came back from Dune part 2. And Faulkners phrase stood out.
Good point. Latter half of the book is Paul struggling against himself and that's what makes it's a sci-fi classic.
Didn't know that George held King in such high regards
Same
there's a whole interview with the both of them.

I mean King is PROBABLY the most famous Horror author of the last 50 years at least so surely he had a huge influence, Not as much as Lovecraft I would argue tho His books take HUGE influence I mean almost ALL the Horror featured somewhat can be traced back to some of his ideas and concepts
"Well, my biggest influence was Aesop's Fables. Specifically the story of the Tortoise and the Hare."
But mostly the Tortoise.
And this comment put 2 more years on the release of winds of winter thanks man :/ lol
He’s a such a cool dude I wanna talk and drink summer wine with him for a week straight

@@johnpsaros4973 yeah I am actually
Thank you for cutting and uploading these videos. You're awesome.
Wonder if he has read Cormac McCarthy
3:41 GRRM on the grassy knoll confirmed...
Ten minutes when all he had to say was "i write fanfiction about the war of the roses."
i feel that's only true if ur focusing on the 5 king war arc, mainly stark v lannister
Have you read his books?
Maybe someone can inspire him to finish "Winds of Winter"
StarseekerxMorgana One would hope the threat of dying while his greatest series is unfinished would ‘inspire’ that
George is not your bitch.
@@danielveres4351 you seem to be of similar cloth of the word you just used.
Does anyone know the name of this Dutch author he mentions?
My guess would be Thomas Olde Heuvelt, as he is the only Dutch writer with a Hugo award
I am dutch and even i dont know
I wish he would've revealed who he wanted to see on the Iron Throne.
I mean he did sorta tell us through that crappy finale. It’s bran the fuckin broken.
No one
@@vcetutorialshub8599 nope. The ending of the books will be different to the show. He had said it.
In 30 years when I'm a fam- I'm gonna stop you right there!
What did he say afterwards?
I didn't watch the whole thing.
Cringe
notice how he never mentions Dune or Frank Hubert, when clearly that author and the series influenced his writing style most of all
Care to elaborate on that?
He has mentioned dune in blog posts and in different interviews
@@asdfasdf5695 Leto 2 = Brand. Melissandre = Benne Gesserit. Duke Leto = Ned Stark. Faceless Men = Face Dancers/Tlelaxu. Shade of the Evening = Mentat Juice. The list goes on and on
@@ndantona92 Those sound like pretty broad generalizations to me. I don't see it.
@@asdfasdf5695 The liquid that turns your lips purple and gives you visions is to general? Thats literally copy/pasted other than the name.
George talks too much and writes too little.
Similar to how most humans talk a lot but work too little. Not like he's the only one doing it
@@The_Quiet_Kiddo tell me, o wiseass one, of anyone who doesn’t do the work they’re supposed to do for a decade and still have that job.
He knows he’ll never lose his customers so he milks the fame. Greedy scumbag.
@@ChadKakashi
I think the point of his writing around the subject is to sell more books by keeping readers on the hook as long as possible. I think his publisher wants to milk this thing as long as possible.
