What’s great about George is that he is generous with his experience as a writer. Some writers don’t always come forward with how to get started in literature, but George is so positive about what you can do to get a start. That’s invaluable to any young author who may have talent, but has no idea where to start in the industry.
Richard Gibson I wanted a more dramatic reason, such as he is so invested in his characters to the degree that he does not like it when they are put in a joke, but probably you are right.

Show Casterly Rock, if done as described in the books, would absolutely need some sort of lever system. Some mechanism like the Wall to elevate people. 3X the height and only steps? yikes. I think if they'd made the castle in the show on a cliff even 400-500ft it would've done justice
The castle isn't on the cliff top its at the base of the Rock. What passes for a castle is a curtain wall, brief courtyard and guard tower. The real fortification is the Rock itself. I've never seen a show like game of thrones before so I thought ned stark was the main character and hero type character and inevitably expected to be king eventually. In my defence he was the face of the poster.
I was surprised he took the job where he was the most famous actor in the show. When he died I wasn’t surprised. Just like Lord of the Rings he likes the flawed characters that die.
When GoT first aired, spoilers were online that Ned Stark is killed in the books. But it was the first season so people were wondering if HBO was going to follow the books or do something different. With “True Blood” the Lafayette character dies early in the books but HBO changed it so that he lived throughout the tv series. GoT viewers were wondering if the same thing was going to happen with Sean Bean as Ned Stark. Once he was killed, viewers realized HBO was following the books with this series.

I’d disagree with George’s assessment of Edward II as he spent so much time focusing on his favorites that he alienated the other nobles and he ignored and mistreated his wife so much that he lost a key ally with France. Edward made a lot of selfish choices including going to war over personal slights like when the nobles forced his favorite into exile and he would continually reverse reforms if he didn’t get his way.
